Even though the Landmaster jokes are funny Fox, Falco and even more so Wolf are different enough that I don’t consider them clones. Yes they both have reflectors, blasters, zippy moves and what not but their moves have enough of a difference that makes them seperate characters in pretty much the same way how the Shoto’s of Street Fighter work. You don’t approach a match with the same exact same mentality between them and their KO reliable attacks are on different moves. Wolf is even more different…and don’t tell me you don’t find his idle stance animation awesome as all hell.
Lots of people are worrying about Falcon, but I’m more worried for Yoshi. The original 8 were in that trailer except him being replaced by pit. I’m not so worried about Falcon though. He’s probably a secret character along with Ness, Jiggz, and Luigi. Hopefully.
Doesn’t look like anyone has posted the daily picture update yet. This one just leaves me saying “Huh?”, but I suspect if I was more awake at this hour I’d probably get it. I’m going to feel stupid in about 8-10 hours when the reference finally ‘clicks’ in my mind:
On a side note, I kind of miss those little diary style updates they did for Brawl. Granted, I can see why they would stop using these. They eat up time Sakurai could instead use to make more stuff for the game and one wonders how much new stuff he really has to talk about this time around.
By the way. Swedish Chef: Where did you get that picture you’re using as your user icon currently? Sabin suplexing a train? That’s awesome and I want a copy of it if it’s available!
What people seem to forget about Japan Time (the stretch of time where there was hype/reveals for Brawl) was that it started exactly the same way as this new one, with little random pictures being posted up to tease people. Later on, it evolved into the amazing hype/posts that we got last time, so for anybody that is getting sick of just silly pictures with no reveals; be patient, it’s worth it, trust me.
Whenever I see this all I can think of is Sabin and the Phantom Train.

Agreed with ya’ completely, but this in particular is one of my favorite things about Dedede. When I saw that it was his dash attack I was freaking elated. As a HUGE Kirby fan, I am obligated to use Dedede’s trip-dash at least once a match.
Details like that are why Smash makes me smile from ear-to-ear.
Definitely agree there. If they cut one of them, as much as I like Falco as a character he’s closer to Fox than Wolf is. Though he needs to have a “Can’t let you do that, Fox” quote somewhere in there (I don’t think he did in Brawl did he?).

Real talk, the Brawl dev blog effing spoiled me, No other dev blog has even touched it since, and the way Sakurai is talking about the one for this game, it won’t either.
I remember staying up until my eyes were bleeding waiting for updates (when I used to post on IGN lol).
Oh god, I spent way too many fucking hours not only trying to collect those stupid things, but then trying to arrange them in my house to play with the music properly in each room.
…and I’m about to do that again with New Leaf. Why.
Yeah, they’re called gyroids as a blanket term, but each one has a different combination depending on the skin/shame. Like you could have a gyroid, or a litizboid, cumzoid, etc.
Regarding 3DS Version: Why not? If they can make it play decently on a handheld, I say let 'em try. If we get a good Smash game on the 3DS, that just means something more to play on a system I have precious few worthwhile games for.
On Sakurai discouraging bandwagoning/hiveminding in balance patch requests: Then he’s going to have to make that aggressively clear IN GAME. Make sure the game teaches defense. Otherwise whoever Smash 4’s heavy hitter is… they’re going to be “Cheap!” just like Ike ‘was’ to the people who had no idea what a block button was. Make the defense tutorial mandatory, too. Then include a blocking segment in a single-player mode so the player has to block in order to proceed. I want Smash 4 to make people finally understand “Oh, hey! Defense is important!” rather than bawwwwing when button mashing just gets them destroyed.
