Regarding the Pokeballs, I hope they don’t limit the number that they can appear like they did in Brawl. They limited it to 3 pokeballs that can appear at one time, while Melee was unlimited. Melee was such fun.

On various topics over the last day or so…
Samus’ revised look: The Other M visual design is slightly too sleek for me… the midsection area looks just a bit disproportionate compared to the rest. Everything else about it is good though, and I don’t mind seeing it show up in Smash 4. Preferred the SNES-era look, but can live with this.
On Returning Cast: I hope Pokemon Trainer does return. Not out of any real fondness for the franchise, but for how creative a character idea he was. The idea of getting three vastly different characters in one is obviously an awesome advantage on paper, and the Fatigue mechanic seemed like a fair way to balance it. Now, we all know it didn’t quite work out so hot in practice for Brawl… but that’s no reason to scrap such a neat idea. I hope they’ll refine his design a little more and make him one of the most unusual (in play form, not obscurity-of-series obviously) additions to the cast. And just for fun, offer different trainers as alternate skins/models.
There’s honestly so much potential here (not just on that one character, but in general) that even with how disappointing Brawl was from the competitive side, I’m getting excited that this installment could turn out to be a great game. I hope it does.
I do hope P.Trainer does come back, though I’d love to see a different set of starters. Probably won’t happen, but I just feel like Blaziken or Infernape deserve some fight time. Y’know, considering they’re FIGHTING types.

I’m checking out sales numbers on the game and by the looks of things it’s the lowest selling game in the franchise at half a mil. In comparison both Prime 1 and 3 both sold over a mil and Prime 2 was just under a mil at 800,000. Fusion also managed to break a mil.
I’ve been watching the smash trailers over and over at work and I’m just now starting to realize that Megaman could be a force to be reckoned with when trying to get back onto the stage. He has like a billion things to throw at you and then has a metor smash that is seperate from his body and goes farther than any of the sword wielder’s weapons… That is going to be a bitch lol. Also depending upon how far his forward smash goes I completely expect people to be spamming that at certain distances. It looks like it’s almost like having a 3/4 Samus Charge shot in your pocket that you only have to charge up 1/3 of the time. Only downside being that you can’t save it.
There’s so many small details about him that they just got perfect with him. They got the little noise when he lands down, his run animation is spot on, and he barely shows much emotion. If there’s one complaint I could even have is that aesthetically Megaman isn’t displaying much emotion but even that is fucking perfect since his face only changes when he jumps, he’s using his abilities, or gets hit in the old games. In fact they got him down so perfect that it actually threw me off that they gave him the ninja run as his dash lol. They really put some TLC into his design.
Something else I noticed from staring at the trailers for too long is that it seems for now that grabbing the ledge isn’t as snappy as it was in Brawl and looks to be closer to Melee. Best example I can give is at 4:37 in the Dev Direct Mario is jumping back to the stage and he’s clearly within the vicinity of the ledge that if it was Brawl he would have snapped right to it. He doesn’t…he capes right near the ledge and he still doesn’t snap to it.
I guess Wiifit Trainer adds a whole new meaning to the phrase, “Feel the Burn!”

The roster size is about the same as Brawl so I kept that in mind.
Mario has no more notable characters to add. Toad is not notable, Bowser Junior hardly ever does anything interesting there’s really no one left.
DK is getting more popular lately and K. Rool is a visually striking consistent villain, Yoshi and Wario are a given (there’s a bit of bias as to which Wario I put in though).
Link seems to be a saturated TP Link so I assume they kept that around because Sheik has no SS version. The other Link is the LttP model because the new 3DS game uses that artstyle and Toon Link shows up on the train level which leads me to believe he’s out.
Samus and her Zero Suit are back, Sakurai said he knows about the demand of Ridley and that he could pull it off if he tried his best which he now has time to do.
Olimar is interesting, they may use him or they may use one of the new guys, I think they’ll use him because Smash has a tendancy to never eliminate an original (Ness, Marth).
Sakurai LOVES StarFox, they aren’t going anywhere and Krystal is not part of the N64 StarFox (aka the one everyone cares about) so she seems least likely.
Falcon is the man, the logo is a Falcon, no other character really makes sense and not many people actually care about having a third Captain Falcon.
The Pokemon are interesting, no one from the 64 game is leaving so we’re “stuck” with Pikachu and Jigglypuff, the Trainer is a great way to represent the human being in the games and I feel they’ll go with the Kanto one because while he’s not the newest he’s the one everyone knows and will recognize if they use one of the new kids with 3 new Pokemon a lot of the 90’s guys aren’t gonna know who they are, not to mention Charizard is still a really popular Pokemon. Mewtwo is another case of recognizing the character the new generation has no replacement Mewtwo and Lucario’s heydey is over. The rule here is: EVERYONE knows first gen and likes it, Smash has a clear bias to first gen.
Fire Emblem has worked like this for 2 games: Keep Marth, replace the other guy with the newest guy so… here we are.
To make room for all the new characters though some need to get cut which is why I’m counting Lucas out, Ness isn’t going anywhere as one of the original 12 and one of them is gone.
Game and Watch, Ice Climbers and ROB are here to stay. Ice Climbers have already been mentioned, ROB was huge in the plot of Brawl and G&W is a homage to the legend who made the GameBoy.
The new characters are all from slightly more minor games and have all been assist trophies) that have gotten some attention lately and as they are the original main character (notice a trend here?) of their series they seem most likely for new additions.
And finally 3rd party, Kojima might not want Snake in his more serious, Hollywood acted self appearing in a game like this so I left him out (want him to make it though!) and Sonic has a 3 game exclusivity deal with Nintendo and was a huge hit and feature in the last game they probably signed the papers years ago.
Im not sure Meta Knight will come back or not, if he does hopefully they fix him. And if they get other character from konami hopefully they get alucard. Sega maybe tails, or someone from Streets of Rage
That’s some wishful thinking. If they get anyone from Castlevania it’ll be Simon. And more than one character for a 3rd party company? I wish but… no.
