Prior to Brawl I had 7 years with a Gamecube controller, going to that tiny, light little thing that never rumbles with the sticks at the bottom and the evenly shaped buttons? No thanks. Way too jarring.
I wonder if Smash can implement Quake 3/Live design of “item” spawning, where there’s preset locations and timings of items/weapons respawning at specific intervals.
Keeping track of the timings of every soon-to-be spawned item/weapon in Quake 3 is a important fundamental and often shifts into a battle of positioning and control. I can see it complementing a stage if implemented well. *If ever and probably going to cause another fiasco within the smash community no matter how well implemented it gets
^closest thing to that we Got was PSAS which I would say had an actual legit balanced item system. Items where one of the very few ways to drain meter from oppnents in that game other than throws and items damage to space control/effect ratios where very well thought out. stages had a default selection of items that cycled in the item spawn points. PSAS was so slept on.
All that they NEED to do is have a countdown beacon. 3 second counter and a flash of some sort (similar to the Golden Hammer?). In a perfect world, they will do that.
So I got a question/discussion for everyone. What are a few SMALL wants from Smash Bros? Not things like stages, characters, gameplay options, balancing, or community things. I mean things like pokemon in pokeballs, stage themes, etc. The stuff that has little to no impact on the actual way the game is played. Here’s an example of mine
Ducktales Moon theme on the Cosmic Observatory(Super Mario Galaxy Stage)
Bald Bull Assist trophy(Jumps into the background as a large Sprite, then charges closer and closer at a random enemy for instant KO. Can be stopped by well timed punch/attack)
Specialized intros to remain.
Powerglove item. No idea what it does, but is best item because it’s so bad.
I was trying to say that Xenoblade is an original under Nintendo…Xenosaga is owned by Namco. I made the assumption that maybe you thought that since you said ‘when they buy out the IP is gone’ when that isn’t the case. I don’t think Monolith has made any games for IP’s that they own.
Also Monolith isnt the same as Rare. Nintendo had controlling shares in Rare during the Snes to GC period but they didn’t fully own Rare completely. Anything Rare did that was original and wasn’t related to a pre existing IP that Nintendo had was owned by Rare themselves. With Monolith, they’ve been 100% bought out by Nintendo by about 2008 thus making them a complete 1st party studio. Anything that Monolith makes or will make that is original after that point is owned by Nintendo.
I also want specialized intros to remain. Since I think they help set the stage for the fight in a way. I always liked Link’s intro from the Smash 64 where he just looked like he just came from finishing a dungeon and he’s still ready to go. If megaman doesn’t teleport in after all that perfect work they put in, it’s going to be sad.
I want both Sonic and Megaman to have more assist trophies to represent their franchises. Sonic would have Tails, Knux and Shadow and Megaman would have Bass (maybe with Treble?), Protoman, and I guess Roll? I think it’d be hilarious to see Roll pop up and to a mini TvC combo on someone, Get someone in a broom combo and finish it off with the giant pail of water.
Edit:
crap uh no characters ummm…ummmmmm…I want Crisis City ‘Modern Mix’ from Sonic Generations on the playlist for Sonic’s stage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptAPujlGcB0
The twin rocketbarrels are back, now with the ability to launch along more horizontal trajectories. They can also come off when opponents hit them mid-boost.
I want proof on all of that. I’m tired of just reading people’s thoughts. Show me the proof. I got my info from another person just typing on the internet. No proof no deal.
You’re asking me to provide proof yet you you’re not providing anything as to why Xenoblade isn’t owned by Nintendo. Nintendo doesn’t put puzzles up on the 3DS of franchises that they don’t own, that’s easily a dead giveaway in and of itself.
And it isn’t thought, what I said IS what happened. What is it exactly that you need proof of?
Nintendo had a 49% stake in Rare…NOT 100%
That’s why even though Nintendo published KI and Banjo when they had controlling interest in the company, Rare retained the rights for those games. Anything involving DK franchise was already owned by Nintendo before Rare dabbled in it.
What I’m saying is, I got my info on the last post from another forum post I found on a video game forum with no links of any kind. I’m getting a conflicting report again with no proof so I’m gonna concede I don’t know and just ask for evidence.
If you want me to believe for a second they own Xenoblade I want it proven. I can’t find proof of either opinion being correct. Also if they own Xenoblade does that mean they own those other two games that came out around the same time? If so, why do they get the cold shoulder?
Monolith Soft has been a first party of Nintendo since 2007 with Nintendo holding at least 96% stake in the company (Rare by comparison were second party, with Nintendo owning 49% stake in the company). In fact Monolith Soft even worked as co-developers for Super Smash Bros Brawl.
As for Xenoblade yes this means it is owned by Nintendo as a whole rather than Monolith Soft as it is an original ip created by a Nintendo first party developer, published by Nintendo and released exclusively for a Nintendo system.
