I think we can at least broadly agree it was one of his better moves. Ganoncide was pretty damn fun, though! It was one of those things that, for as briefly as online Brawl was a thing before we realized the netcode was pretty bad… made me wish the game would have voice chat. Because I wanted to listen to people rage every time they got chokeslammed into the abyss!
IIRC ganoncide was random in who got the kill, if both players are down to their last stock sometimes Gannon got the win and sometimes the other player did.
Orochizoolander: …Yikes, you just reminded me of something. Wasn’t there some concept of ‘controller port priority’ in Brawl that affected that, and/or how certain hitbox interactions (for purposes of what would otherwise be a hit trade) got resolved? I remember there being quite the buzz about it a few years back. Was it ever proven/disproven, and if it was the former then what are the implications for Smash 4?
I think they should keep it as a slow, high damage move, but change what it is or its animation or whatever.
Like make him punch the ground and have purple warlock magic shoot up in a burst around him. It would shoot be super far upwards, opposed to the falcon punch launching people to the side.
Sparta kick is the best. So satisfying to see someone fly horizontal at a 180 DEGREE ANGLE across the stage.
Tilt up A has so much knock back probably the best in the game after the homerun bat. But nearly impossible to hit someone with it. I say give Ganon a stun move.
His meteor effect attack is also godlike. It bounces them of the floor and the fly verticall.
Only moves they should change are his smash attacks and maybe up B
Ganondorf is all about neutral A. I love jabbing people, especially if they get cornered. The stomp is great too, especially if you can eliminate the recovery.
Pic of the day. Zelda’s strong side attack. It’s a slash attack that utilizes her magic to make even a simple slash look sharp.
As fun and badass as Ganon’s moves are I’d be disappointed if he didn’t have an all new move set simply due to him being a stronger, slower Falcon in Brawl. Sakurai saying no clones gives me hope we’ll get a heavily modified Ganon.
Keep the Spartan kick, down air, down special and maybe side special.
Give him a sword or some magic.
Keep him the same speed.
Make him laugh really loud whenever you hit a side special.
Orochizoolander: Thank you for the link on port priority. That’s… …kind of warped. I see most of it isn’t a big deal, but things like influencing how Bowsercide behaves does matter and I can’t help but hope they have a better solution in Smash 4.
Zelda’s magic slash in the PotD looks neat. I really like that they’re giving her those kind of visual touch-ups, since her art design in general is one of the things I liked most in Brawl.
And one of the faster ways the game can teach someone to learn how to use their damn shield button.
Smacking people with repeated Ganondorf jabs in Brawl is one of the funnier things you can do if they’re inexperienced and have bad defense: Whack “What the?” Whack" “Damnit, stop–” Whack “KNOCK IT OFF!!!111ONE”
