Because no one ever plays their matches and it ends up being a huge waste of time.

For the sake of history:

Smash Leagues were run by me for a while, with many of the peeps here (and several that are gone) participating. You had 1 week to complete your match. Many did not, averaging 2 matches being dropped a week. People were enthused for a while, despite no one ever making the time for a less than 15 minute Bo3.

When I had crap to do IRL I left it to Mood. Mood tried, but no one was willing to even respond when he made inquiries about what next to try with the League. No one responded and everyone just moved on.
