Yeah give me Zero Suit Samus already.
he looks like a duck
yeah but snake is better…jk i wont start trash talking until online and a release date is confirmed :encore:
Quoted for truth. All the people saying “lolz roy’s teh marth clone” DO know that the only reason Roy fought like him is because they hadn’t established his own fighting style yet? FE6 wasn’t released at the time of SSBM, Roy was a promo character for that game.
I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again; in FE6 he fights with the Sword of Seals MUCH DIFFERENTLY than the SSBM Roy. Think iai-jutsu (like Johnny from GGXX) with a double-edged sword and you have Roy. For example:

On that note, they could easily give him a new move set if they wished.
YES! That would work wonderfully. Roy would do well with an iaido-based moveset, and someone like Ganondorf would do well with a new moveset as well. You know you want to see Ganondorf bust out his sword and start using his magic.
Ganon’s fine as he is. The only way in which Ganon is similar to Falcon is through similar animations for some attacks (n-air, f-smash, u-smash, d-smash, u-air, etc.). Otherwise, the 2 are completely different in terms of their attacks’ hitbox size, speed, and playstyle.
Eh, I still think as far as the average gamer is concerned Ganon would be a clone character.
3/4 of his moves look the same. Clone. I could care less about properties. Give him his damn sword.
So much for my prediction on it being a stage…but yeah Fox looks like he definitely is about to scream out the whole ‘over 9000’ thing at any moment. judging from the screens and what we know so far from the game…In earlier shots and the clips of him from the second smash trailer does anyone get the feeling that fox might have a second mode similiar in a sort of way to how zelda changes to sheik? I don’t know exactly how it would work out but fox sometimes has his blaster out and then at times he doesn’t. what do you guys think?
GD was a clone. Granted he had his own unique weight, speed, power, friction and defense he was still a clone. He was basically a non-rush version of Cap. Alot of people find that kind of lame (I myself do) and would like to see him fight in a way that more compliments the character as he appears in Zelda. (swordplay and magic)
On the topic of clones: I have no grief with them from a gameplay standpoint. From a style standpoint, the only ones that really bug me are Dr. Mario and Young Link. Ganondorf, Roy, Falco, and yes even Pichu would be cool with quasi-unique or wholly-unique movesets.
using the same mocap (motion capture animations) = CLONES. end of story.
dr mario, luigi = mario mocap. - Luigi is his brother, after all.
falco = fox mocap.
young link = link mocap.
ganondorf = captain falcon mocap.
pichu = pikachu mocap.
roy = marth mocap.
those are the “clones” in melee that might get a total rework of thier animations Or get removed all together.
who will most likely get the axe out of these?
- Pichu (replaced by a 4th gen poke),
- Roy (get replaced by another main character in the newer Fire Emblem games)
- Falco (might stay and they will just add Star Wolf and Krystal.)
- dr mario (mario with stronger spikes and heavier, mirror clone, no reason to keep really)
- young link (replaced by cell shaded Wind Waker Link (!!!) or just removed)
Ganondorf is the villan of the Zelda series, he WILL stay but will have a new mocap and possibly wield his sword (finally).
they should put lil mac from punchout
Actually, Luigi was different in melee.
HELL YES
smash needs steve fox :rock:
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…
BONK for SSBB
And because of this, I don’t think we’ll be seeing another character update for a while.
They used mocap? Are you sure? I thought they keyframed all of it.
he had a lot of similar moves though
and how the fuck do you motion capture a fucking pikachu
- greatly exagerated animation at the descretion of the programmers and designs. :tup:
I’m loving the weather/time effects in the game.
