Smash It Up! Setting the stage:
very very interesting…I think I like the idea of all the stages except for clu clu…bit iffy on that…Green Hill is a duh but the thought of Bowser’s Castle, Bramble Blast, and OG DK stage sound fun.
Green Hill looks like a nice addition but Bowser Castle top from Super Mario World would be cool too.
Replacing dropping players with cpus!? what!? Any moron could tell the difference between a cpu and a human. what the hell kind of idea is this?
Eh, I guess it’s slightly better than just having you drop out of a match and go back to the menu.
other than that, i’m fine. Vf5 lowered my fighting game online standards by alot (because the setup is terrible), so yeah.

Out of my 5 years of playing Melee, I’ve played hundreds of people on all sorts of levels. Only 1 person out of those hundreds I remember playing somewhat like a computer. It’s a very rare occurrence. And even then, some stuff he did wasn’t 100% CPU-like.
And the idea of a person wasting hours of his time playing like a CPU (i.e. playing to lose) just to make people disconnect makes no logical sense whatsoever.
Like I said, the concept of replacing dropouts with CPUs is stupid. I’d rather play people, especially since CPUs tend to be stupid as well as reinforce bad habits.
Damn, finally saw some actual gameplay vids of the game and it’s getting me hella excited.
And story mode looks really sweet!
Green Hill stage is kind of a given. I mean, Sonic needs his own stage. And it’s…yeah.
I hope Green Hill isn’t the only one…cause it’s TOO much of a given. I don’t know what other stage I’d like to see in smash though…there’s too many to pick for me…maybe a casino themed/typish level since those used to always show up in the old school sonic games. It’d either have to be Spring Yard, Casino Night, or Carnival Night. Music wise though I’m leaning towards Carnival Night. If I could ask for a third stage from his games it would be Death Egg from Sonic 2 complete with Egg mech terrorizing all over the place and the epic music.
Still, man, you gotta take it into account: this isn’t Sonic’s game; he’s not even sharing the spotlight equally with Mario (as was the case in Mario & Sonic). He’s a guest-star in a predominantly Nintendo title. So for him to not only get in, but to have a stage, plus probably 2 BGMs to his credit (Classic Green Hill, as well as “Live and Learn”), as well as at least one Assist Trophy to his credit (all odds point to Tails) is already something worthy of noting, considering that he’s a 3rd party character.
So, in my eyes, Sonic has probably received as much as to be due to any character, whether he’s a guest-star or not. Any more, and we might have to start wondering if some other characters may end up getting the shaft in his favor…
Actually, I kind of doubt that “Live and Learn” is background music because as of yet, no music in the series has had vocals.
Of course, this may be the first time, especially considering that Ashley song.
Sonic’s stage is either going to be Green Hill or a Secret Rings stage.
Death Egg FTW
What I said above was assuming that each series( I.E. mario, zelda, f-zero, pokemon, etc) gets at LEAST 2 stages. Some will obviously get more than others for various reasons. I’m not in anyway saying Sonic should get special red carpet treatment at all and agree that just the fact that he’s in is a feat in itself (see Lucifer freezing his ass off). Last game every series had at least 2 stages with the exception of mr. game and watch and ice climbers. I’m saying if sonic was to get one and one stage only then it’s a no brainer and obvious choice that Green Hill would at least have a 70% chance out of all the other zones of making the cut. But I’m hoping he gets a second stage at least and the stages that I could think of that would be a good addition to smash would be what I stated earlier, that’s just my opinion.

Hmmm…I forgot about that one, mostly because I hate that song and no one plays that song.
You have to admit that that is pretty atrocious song though, even if you like it for its cheesiness.
Seriously. I mean, who came up with that should of had their hands broken.
The levels in Secret Rings were some of the best I’ve seen in a Sonic game (I consider it better than Sonic 3 and Knuckles levels). Pirate Storm, Night Palace, Skeleton Dome, or Sand Oasis would make a great stage.

Again, though, my thing is, if EVERYBODY stands to get two stages, then sure, let Sonic have another. (I’d nominate Death Egg, with a funky remix of S3’s soundtrack powering it).
But if such a thing occurs where some characters still only have one stage, then in the end, what’s good for those geese, is good for the gander…err…hedgehog. As it stands, we don’t even know if Snake has a second stage (I would think some kind of jungle, whether it was based off of the original Metal Gear, or Snake Eater, would be appropriate), and he’s been known about longer than Sonic has.
In any case, we shall see. On another note, I’m really hoping that they allowed the guys behind the Killer 7 and God Hand OSTs to have some real fun. Smash has always had a good orchestral sound, but it could definitely use more distinctly awesome beats.
