Are you being serious or sarcastic? Well, Samus is pretty good in Melee, she ranks around mid to upper tier.
NO That Bitch sucks. Sux. Sux. Sux. And I’m not saying this because I hate her. On melee, they took out the priorities on her attacks. Even famous Samus mains that I’ve met says she sucks. She still is an ok character its just man the transition to 64 characters to melee characters still somewhere in the back of my mind bothers me. No Johns.
Lol im looking for some info on Smashboards and i think it exploded. The C.Fal confirmation was too much for everyone.
Well HugS is the number 1 Samus player and he consistently ranks in tournaments. Samus is also on the higher end of the mid tier. Her ground game is very powerful, and has great control over the bottom levels of stages. She has some great edge guarding with missile cancels, bombs, charged shot, and sex kick. She also has the hands down best recovery in the game. So I’m not sure how she sucks. Also Samus is bottom tier in 64, some I’m not sure how she had a bad transition from 64 to Melee.
She was bottom in the 1st but still better than the melee version. All of her attacks that are useless were so much better in the first one because they actually juggled, and not miss while in a combo. The same is said with Link. You see how Link’s U+smash was in 64. It hit everytime, and killed a lot of the time. But now in melee he won’t even get all of the hits in, and possibly gives your opponent a chance to recover. Basically, what I’m saying my dude is Samus/Link was indeed one of the worst characters, but due to the game mechanics of 64. They were contenders. 64 had no DI, less variety between characters, no one didn’t have a bad attack really, small roster, and a more emphasis on “don’t get hit” even more so than Melee. All Nintendo had to do was make the bad characters better, and leave the good characters alone is that so hard to do?
Which is why Sheik, Marth, Fox, Falco, Falcon, and Peach are still runnning amuck for 5 years over 21 other characters. But HugS getting 2nd at Evo is because HugS is a very, very smart player. He limits himself on that character because I suppose he feels comfortable playing her, and she fits his criteria on playstyle. Otherwise, he could picked up Peach because she does a lot of shit better than Samus. Spamming vegetables, getting back on stage, the Beyblade attack (the spin), harder to kill if DI properly, and she’s just overall gay.
You’re honestly confusing me. Link and Samus were the only two bottom tier characters in 64. Link has been moved up to low tier, while Samus has been moved up to the higher end of the mid tier. Yet you say that the 64 versions are better? I think you’re just being a bit too nit picky about certain attacks while missing the whole picture, which is the fact that they are higher on the tier list in Melee than they were in 64.
what was samus’ brawl change, i remember it having something to do with missles, but i dont quite remember. Or maybe im wrong, man…someone should have cataloged all the character/gameplay changes on SRK.
Well she can’t missile cancel no more if thats what you’re talking about. And her missiles are a bit weaker overall.
well, if the missle cancelling thing is it, then my memory is vague on that certain ability, as for the weaker missles, since its apparently harder to kill someone in Brawl anyway, I dont see the point. Aw well.
I thought shffling was still in the game. you just had to fast fall before you attacked, which made slower moving characters unable to shffle.
The roster was very small in 64 which are reasons why. Melee has a much larger cast, and lot of characters barely had anything going for them at the top of the metagame. The reason why Samus is so high is because her crouch cancel is one of the top 3, She is heavy yet floaty so she survives at very high percentages, difficult to edgeguard, great projectiles, and honestly she just flat out better than the other characters below her. The reason why because of most of those characters got a nerf bat. Remember Ness -_- he was good wasn’t he? Top tier too. Now he is Mierda De Toro.
The L-canceling from E-for-All is out? … looks like Peach is gonna be Top tier.
Your logic works except for the fact that there’s no dashdancing in Brawl due to tripping. Whoops.
Oh, and lend me your magic time machine so I can play some Ike.
He was talking about Melee not 64. Samus in 64 was a turd unfortunately.
Ness was more of a Dark Horse IMO. Once he was off the stage he was doomed.
Was everything changed from e-for-all? because at e-for-all there was dashdancing, it was harder due to the wiimote but it still existed.
The way I see it if SHFFLing is completely eliminated the ones who can fast fall will have a definite offensive advantage, but the ones who have heavy armor and can’t SHFFL will have a defensive advantage, balancing the gameplay a bit… theoretically.
I was explaining the comparison of the Samus incarnations to him,she was a turd. But what I’m trying to explain is 64 mechanics helped balance shit out. While Melee mechanics she didn’t see any just out of this world improvement. If it wasn’t for DI, and the other characters sucking horribly she would still be garbage.
Do you get me? Do you think she would still be mid top if Pika, Ness, especially Kirby, and a few others weren’t toned down? That’s all I’m saying lol. They haven’t really done any seriously noticable buffs to Samus besides her crouch canceling. Sorry for derailing.
edit: so no l-canceling in Brawl? Well everyone’ gonna start fresh.
:wonder: uh, when you first actually made this post, im pretty sure i read something really random…but uh…
turned into a quality post in the end. Bowser should be defensive anyway, since reading the move lists they posted last night, it looks like his fwd B is the Final Atomic Bowser “Flying Slam” (Someone probably already confirmed that, but i only read the one smash demo info thing, and didnt recall him saying that.), so depending on its range etc, you want to be careful around King Koopa.
There’s a thing called tripping now, apparently it’s just that; you do quick turn-arounds and your character seems to fall over, thus nixing dashdancing. However, you can do stuff out of the trip so it seems to have some actual strategic merit to it.
No she still wouldn’t be mid top, it was just hard deciphering what you were saying. We all thought you were referring to Melee Samus which is leagues better than her 64 bit counterpart.
