Super Skrull UMvC3 Changes thread!

Super armor on the Stone Smite when he’s releasing the charge.

Hmm… interesting I guess. Does this affect the assist? Any practical applications for this. If all we are getting are these 3 things, then Skrull is staying at the bottom of the tier list, really unfortunate.

I don’t think he’s there to begin with, but I sure as hell don’t wanna start that same argument again.
Air Meteor Smash could very well be a much bigger buff than you think, especially given the new found love for zoning characters in UMvC3. Other than that, air XFC seems huge for Skrull, combine those two changes and any thoughtless assist call against Skrull means instant death.

Air XF helps everyone, if he doesn’t have any other changes he will most certainly not be played in the competitive scene. Air meteor smash has some potential. Following up the level 3 seems like it has the most potential because it could improve his lackluster damage output. If the stone smite assist has the armor, then that would be a change that actually could make him a viable choice in the competitive environment. Regardless I will still play him, although with 12 new characters I can’t guarantee he’ll be my primary choice anymore.

It seems like Skrull will, more or less, stay where he is currently on the tier list. Armor on stone smite won’t really help much, even if it is on the assist, just because of its slow start up. Not being able to block while air dashing is a nerf but air meteor smash will lead to new resets, combos and ways of getting in. Lack of Skrull in competitve play will benefit the Skrull players since not many people will know the match-up. Just look at DJhousen, dude placed really high at season’s beatings by landing his combos and resets

You can’t dismiss the success of a Skrull at a major like that as just a lack of matchup knowledge.

Orbital grudge assist might be getting an armor/speed buff as well, that’s good news for my Skrull anchor team :smiley:

Death Penalty now auto-tracks the opponent.

This isn’t just an easier way to OTG with this. Guaranteed full screen high damage punishes WITH a stagger state? Skrull for god-tier.

I think it was definitely needed because I’ve had Death penalty land right next to or on top of people and randomly miss

No, it’s always a pain regardless. Even if you hit the right buttons, it’s still likely it won’t hit anyway.

Here are the change list for Skrull:

Super-Skrull
- Stone Dunk hit box has been increased.
- Orbital Grudge floats higher.
- Obrital Grudge super armor activates faster.

  • Meteor Smash can be activated in the air.
  • Death Penalty automatically brings you over the opponent.
  • Number of hits in Inferno (ground and air ver.) can be increased through rapid button presses.

What the hell is the stone dunk, is that Air down H, or is that stone smite?

What does “floats higher mean”

If the super armor activates faster as an assist, that could be a major game changer.

I’m also curious about this death penalty stagger state (that isn’t mentioned in the change list), is it going to just lead to hit stun deterioration soon, because if so, that will be lame.

-Stone Dunk is Charge Air S.
-Especially if the hitbox got tweaked. People were able to Happy Birthday you easily if you relied on that assist to cover you.
-I’m guessing he raises his fists higher or the hitbox is higher.
-I was hoping it led to it being a hard knockdown instead since you could just MS to Inferno after a lvl 3 if that happened.

That’s good that his Air S is bigger, I always felt that hitbox was misleadingly small. Well, he certainly got better, air meteor smash could be a game changer for damage output, but only reset wise, he needs more reliable damage, but fortunately lately, new technology has been coming out. Let’s just hope that the armor on Orbital Grudge goes on the assist too.

lvl3 tracking is good news. that blind spot where it would miss no matter which one you did was pretty irritating. all of skrulls changes sound like vast improvements. no weaknesses reported so far. still wondering if infinite will be possible.

yes, Skrull looks fine, can’t wait to play him. let’s cross fingers that the Doom hype will calm down because I don’t wanna fight my way through missile barrages. that assist is annoying as hell for Skrull…

judging from the rocket raccoon gameplay reveal vids, stone smite is definitely looking a lot faster. that’s a VERY welcomed addition. :tup:maybe now it won’t be virtually useless as an assist

I think it comes out instantly like Juggernaut’s assist in MvC2. That’d be amazing.

seeing the bigger hitbox on stone dunk is great now SMMH stone dunk SMMHS MS inferno will be one of his best resets the timing on it in vanilla was tight. Also faster super armor on Orbital grudge makes it his best assist and since M version is safe on block I’ll be using this move on point more.

Skrull has a good chance of making the jump to high tier.
