That would be very sad face.
They probably reduced the otg window or something. Maybe if you delay the first air combo you can still otg with d.H and dash relaunch.
There is no first air combo, im referring to his elastic slam command grab. I landed at least 5-6 e.s. and none of them connected with any type of OTG, and its pretty hard to screw up e.s. into meteor strike, but again, I was very low on fuel and semi trashed so its possible they shortened the window. But it would seem that capcom made alot of changes to various moves and one of the changes they seem to have done alot is making moves that used to cause a hard knock down, now cause a soft, which if this is the case with e.s. means no more OTG after, which is one of the main reasons i play skrull.
I’m hoping somebody else was able to play him and confirm otherwise.
I hope so too, cuz that’s what makes skrull good.
I use him for his range game, but if he loses his throw combos then I’ll probably mess with Ghost Rider, or Iron Man or Spider Man. Just for a ranged keep away type game, with a little rush down.
here’s a vid of tokiko playing umvc3. He uses skrull.
Tokiko if ur there I would like to hear some thoughts about umvc3 skrull. Did you notice followups after elastic slam not working? Or combos that you couldn’t use anymore?
I won all my matches with skrull last night at NYC fight club. He seems the same to me except for air meteor smash which is really useful for offensive mixups as well as getting out of a tight spot, it’s a much better buff then I initially though it’s not really going to make skrull broken lol.
E.S, dash, skrull smash, dash, S, B, B, C, S, meteor, inferno still combos and seems to do more damage to although I’m not sure if that’s due mostly to the nearly universal health nerf or skrull’s more damaging normals.
It felt like the timing for dash S after skrull smash is less tight then in vanilla.
Awesome, thank you so much for posting this.
Man, I think that Tokido gets the point with that team. I will prove the same team when UMvC3 is on sale!
I’m really excited for Meteor Smash in the air. I think will be much easier to use after a j.S to combine with Inferno. I’m a Skrull player since day 1 and no matter how nerf o buff they give, WILL BE MY TEAM CAPTAIN!
Edit: It’s not vital, but I noticed one change. Skrull doesn’t say “He loves you” anymore after Inferno.
This pleases me greatly! No “He loves you” displeases me though. I can’t wait to inferno xf ms xx inferno!
Super Skrull, comics wise never believed in “Him”, which makes sense. All he ever really wanted to do was unite his people and protect them from Galactus. This is of course after his initial programming of “YOU MUST KILL THE FANTASTIC 4!”.
I wish Skrull made some reference to the F4 in his dialogue or special moves. Hopefully he gets some new lines because I love the VA of skrull(He also does Dr. Doom in the MSH Show).
From now, I’ve see a new dialogue in reference to F4. When he beats Hawkeye: “Enough of this Avenger, Bring me the Fantastic Four” in a super cool way. And in his text say “Yes, I fought for humanity during Secret Invasion. But don’t read too much into that.”
Really, Skrull is the Man!.. No… The SKRULL!
Cool. I couldn’t experiment too much when I played with him at EVO since I’m a pad player and the machines are stick only.
He felt the same when I played him at Evo.
I really want an interaction with Nova. Skrull helps Nova during the Secret Invasion, so I hope some “Forget about Secret invasion. Allow me to show you the Skrull superiority!”.
I hope they dont broke my heart like when they give no interaction with She-Hulk about his daughter :(.
I only got to play him a couple of matches on the EVO build, but so far I can back what has been said about everything he has working more or less the same as it does in vanilla. I didn’t drop anything I usually do with him, so if there were any negative changes there, I didn’t notice them.
I do have to say though, air meteor smash is incredible. There doesn’t seem to be any minimum height requirement to use it (or if there is, it’s very low), unlike most specials - kind of like Doom’s air dash. I could be about to land from a jump and meteor smash right before hitting the ground. When coupled with assists and cross-up smash distance, it makes for some really ambiguous setups: people were getting hit by surprise left and right. I can imagine this bringing some awesome new technology in once we get some more time to play with it.
Good stuff, Correa. I’m starting to think that Skrull is really going to benefit from the general rushdown nerf and the introduction of new zoning characters. Air meteor smashing assists on reaction (and possibly the point char as well) > Inferno > XFC > Inferno is looking scary as hell
what this probably means is that lvl3 causes a hard knockdown ‘stagger’ like rolling hook or gravity squeeze. the type where their legs are still reeling from the hit. if thats the case, then lvl3 will have better midscreen applications as a combo starter. something like…lvl3, wavedash, L tenderizer, dash, launch, etc…similar to midscreen post throw combos. this would make sense considering skrull is one of the few characters with a lvl3 that doesn’t end in a hard knockdown.
So it’s been quite some time, what do we know now about his changes aside from level 3 stagger and air meteor smash, there’s got to be something else, right?
