I’m actually really excited for the U2 hitbox buff. Bisons punishing teleports with slide will hopefully be able to get hit by the U2 now. As well as other things.
And if its startup is reduced to 9 frames that will be pretty ridiculous. Cross up tatsu to U2 will be guaranteed on every character. I doubt they will change the startup at all. If they do though, it will either get a damage nerf or only have teleport xx U2 have pursuit property rather than straight up U2. Doubt we will be seeing this though. :\

Hahha, well I hope Shin Akuma doesn’t like straight out suck. If he’s just an Akuma on crack with lower hp, I might just main him.

Maybe he’s going to replace Seth as the character with 750 HP now hmm…, hope he’ll be in the game and ain’t tournament banned though, we’ll know for sure in pretty much a week when AE is released in Japan.
@ DevilKnight, I almost had a heart attack when I read the first couple of changes, only after I realized you were messing around lol
DF palm recovery could make me drop Akuma as my main, removing the armor breaker and giving it to his tatsu for example could make me drop him period :P, at least there’s hope for a replacement Akuma now if anything disastrous happened to regular Akuma lol
Oni/Shin Akuma = Vanilla SF4 Akuma??
Same stun and damage as vanilla… If that were to happen, I think I’d switch my main as to him as well! Give him double zanku using HP only (LP/MP shoots only one FB), maybe add slightly more recovery to the HP zankus to make it “even”. Give him 750 health and then make him available online (ranked/endless/tourney).
Akuma/Shin Akuma/Rose all day tbh.

They better not add recovery to palm. I was just joking when I first brought it up, but you guys hyped it enough to genuinely scare me LOL.
as a wannabe akuma user, i see the U2 buff as a pretty huge buff for akuma. U2 as it stands now is as close to useless as you can get. i main Ken so i’m a huge advocate of FADC> Ultra combos and this buff couldnt make me happier
it makes sense to nerf the shit out of regular akuma so no one uses him and everyone moves onto broken ass shin/oni whatever akuma.

Imho SSF4 Akuma already is a shadow of his former self and not far away from absolute threshold of pain (when it comes to joy of playing him).
I don’t wanna cry but hey… remember those beautiful f.HK combos from vanilla. Or the variety of supers in former sf-games? KKZ, Misogi, …
Whenever you faced him you felt kinda like you have to nearly die of awe.
Of course this is a bit exaggerated.
But in the meanwhile the only thing someone thinks when facing him is that he takes damage like a dainty little girl. Two combos and he’s “dead”.

As a fellow vanilla player, I share this sentiment 100% so it’s not just you. That feeling is what I was kinda getting at in that satire I posted about AE changes for him.
It seems to me (also) as if the SSF4 Akuma players may have forgotten what it was like to play him in vanilla; while the SSF4 non-Akuma players still think of vanilla Akuma when they talk about how he’s a monster. I recommend someone like Gamogo, James or whoever play vanilla Akuma for a week just to be able to take a second look at what he’s been dilluted to in SSF4. The difference is ridiculous.
Let me start by saying that yes, Akuma is less powerful now than he was in SF4. That being said however he is still powerful, you just need to play him differently. Some of the changes they made to him are purely nonsensical. Lack of stun and making his FADC red combos worthless had me scratching my head.
I still remember - I have to royalty of playing at my school’s arcade cabinet. He was pretty OP back then. Shoryu FADC shaku did so much stun AND set up more demon flips… 1 knockdown + 2 mixups? Stunned.
So glad it’s getting buffed.
Yes, your right. He`s playable and in the right hands he still can be on top of any tourney. So it’s different, but he still has a lot of tools. I know that must sound scrubby, but nevertheless I miss a lot of the beauty and aesthetics of his playstyle.
It’s good you mentioned those nearly worthless fadc shaku combos. I’m doing them still when playing SSF4 at my friends house - just because they’re looking soooo good.
Just watched a vanilla replay of you (ShinAkuma204) yesterday that I’ve recorded pretty much a year ago. You’ve destroyed a FeiLong in a G2 Final (on PC) pretty badly.
Just beautiful.
And here I am playing Vanilla PC being able to do all the RH loops and whatnot on Abel and Sagat. I enjoy that but then I ask myself if theres any point still knowing the timing because I know it wont work in SSF4 AE if it ever comes out for PC
