The official stance on ultra changes for SNCR will be that you are always free to change your ultra before every game, even if you won the previous game of a match. The winner must keep the same character but is allowed to change costume, color, taunt, and ultra. I want to leave freedom to the players and leave out any extra restrictions as much as possible.
Related to that rule, players may opt for blind select in character for the first game of a match. They may add in ultra selection as part of the blind process. If this is desired, please let the judge know both your character and ultra.

Eh, with blind character select, I think you should at least be able to know who your character is using when you select your ultra, because it can be very important to a matchup.
That is a very rare case in actuality. Not many characters have match up specific ultras that aren’t already the characters’ preferred ultra. The majority of players use the same ultra no matter who they face against due to practicality. The blind select on ultra as a secondary option makes natural sense. Think about it this way, if someone is asking to blind select both characters and ultras they are probably trying to gimmick you - so wouldn’t you want to pick the safest ultra anyways?
NCR is just over a week away so there will be no substitutions in console format now. So MvC2 will stay on PS3. As good as the DC version was, we should try to accept the transition and move forward to the next gen version. Note that the console selection was partly to give Marvel players a chance to practice in the upcoming EVO format. The only caveat is that if Marvel or any other event gets less than 8 entries, I’ll cancel the event and refund the money.
For the ultra selection rule, I’ll amend the rule to state that in the rare case the ultra selection is also requested to be blind, then the blind character choice must first be revealed then ultra selection can be done blind after.
they should implement this for evo too. it’s actually a lot better since, blind pick ultra is more of gambling than anything if you have 2 ultra that switches depending on char type.
simple example, ultra1 goes thru fireballs, ultra 2 can be comboed into but does not go thru fireballs. you obviously dont’ want to guess ultra1 and fight against a grappler.
