Wow, this game doesent look bad.
so how big is the roster now? around 12, 16 maybe?
The Goku vs. Cell fights were really good. I’m interested in this game now.
It plays just like a regular fighter, right? Not like those other DBZ fighters for PS2?
Agreed. This game does look like it has more potential than Budokai Tenkaichi but Budokai 3 is a different story. I’d have to play it first.
When comparing things to the Budokai games you have to keep in mind that Budokai 3 and Budokai Tenkaichi are made by two different comparies (Dimps for B3 and Spike for BT). Budokai Tenkaichi wasn’t even a real budokai game. They put Budokai in the title for marketing reasons. In Japan Budokai 1-3 are called DBZ 1-3 but BT is DBZ Sparkling
Budokai 3 was a very good fighting game with a lot of depth. Dimps did a great job on it and they will most likely improve it for the next iteration which will probably come out on PS3 (although they are making Shin Budokai for PSP which is based off B3).
After watching a few of the combo videos I think I like the combo style of Budokai 3 better. Like I said before, I’d have to try the game out to really know, but B3 looks more fluid.
Budokai 3 combo video for comparison.
No one wants to share their opinion of the combo video comparisons?
Who cares which looks more fluid? Isn’t Budokai the game where you shoot pieces of corn back and forth? Does SDBZ have the same stupid burst-type thing in Budokai where you use meter to get out of a combo and tele-hit the other dude?
EDIT Wow I didn’t think Budokai was better but the Linkin Park really convinced me. Hey why does every character have the same combo? Ground chain -> juggle chain -> powerup -> juggle chain -> powerup -> juggle chain -> super?
Anyway SDBZ looks fun. I like the crossup mixups and tick throws.
From what I’ve seen, no.
http://blog.goo.ne.jp/xkurisu/ - Where I got most of my SDBZ matches from. Few updates on it too.
Yeah I’ve seen some matches from there. I think I saw Freeza do a teleport thing but I think it’s just a normal teleport. Also, this game has reversals! That’s pretty dope. Reversal Kamehameha?
We’ve had this game for 2 months and i played it once total…but now i’ve seen vids i’ll give it a 2nd chance.
The “stupid burst-type thing” you’re probably referring to is called Hyper Mode which is hardly used in high-level play. Secondly, every character doesn’t have the same combo. That combo video only showed some of the available techniques of Budokai 3.
You might want to read through the Budokai 3 thread.
this game looks very very good IMO. Should I import or should I wait for a U.S release? Whens it come out here btw?
The game WILL have a US release from what I’ve heard that and there will 2 more bonus PS2 characters that weren’t in the arcade version:-
Videl
Mecha Freeza
Also the game has 4 secret characters:-
EX-Gohan
Majin Buu (the fat one :arazz: )
Majin Vegeta
and…
Piccolo Damyo (Dragonball Piccolo)
I personally am rather excited about the game TBH ^_^, though it sucks there is no Master Roshi or Mr. Satan :/.
Secret characters
Um…it looks cool as a fighter and everything, but from the screens (I can’t see the videos, the links are all inactive) it’s looks NOTHING like how actual fights in DBZ go down…2.5D? Why?
That “no true 3D movement” thing is the biggest rub about Budokai for me, and kind of why I like Tenkaichi…it’s way more of how I expected a DBZ game to be. You know, free flight, raining lasers on people from 10 miles away, that sort of thing.
Oh yeah…and I guess Videl was training with Naruto and Jiraiya instead of Gohan…cause one of the shots on the Magic Box sure looks like a Oodama Rasengan. Matter of fact, can’t she not use ki (outside of flying) at all?
Budokai Tenkaichi is a great dbz game (for the feel of DBZ) but a horrible fighting game. Only people into dbz would even like it.
Budokai 3 is a good DBZ game and a great fighting game. Hence why those otherwise uninterested in DBZ still like it.
I and most others agree that Budokai 3 >>>>>> Budokai Tenkaichi.
That’s what I said, Tenkaichi is more like actual DBZ fights than Budokai. So for the purposes of being a DBZ game (which is what Spike set out to do with Tenkaichi), it’s better than B3.
I do like Budokai, but it’s still kinda weird to see them fighting on 2.5D lines with Street Fighter-esque moves/combos.
get the japanese version for the japanese goku voice.
thumbs up
This man speaks the truth!
Btw, can anyone repost those older videos on the thread? Looks like they were deleted. Only match videos I can really find are on Youtube and there aren’t a whole lot.
ven: get off bukodai 3’s nuts. man it gets so old. sorry, but its really annoying. you go into every thread that has a hint of anything dragon ball, and diss everything in comparison to budokai 3 like its the best thing since sliced bread. yeah great we get it, you would hump budokai 3 if it would let you.
^That’s what I’ve been trying to tell em’ all along…
