Holy crap keep strawmanning irrelevant arguments and facts.
Eileithyia, the right to be in last chance qualifiers is literally decided by pulling 16 team names out of a hat out of ALL the teams that want to play for the last spot (or in this case, two spots.)
The 16 teams that are chosen from the hat get the “right” to play in the Last Chance Qualifier.
This is why poongko did not play in SBO, his name was not pulled out of the hat, even though he showed up to it.
Daigo and Iyo did not have to put their name in the hat, they were automatically guaranteed a spot.
Why do I keep bringing their name up?
Because THAT WAS THE ONLY TEAM IN LAST CHANCE QUALIFIERS that did not have to put their name into a hat.
Why did they not have to put their name in the hat?
Because their names are Daigo and Iyo.
They did not win anything, they were just given a free entry into LCQ.
No questions asked.
There was no seeding involved or points or whatever, no one else had such a privilege.
Also they never lost any qualifier?
What, you think they just failed to attend every SBO qualifier in Japan BEFORE Tougeki and then entered ONLY last chance?
Are you stupid?
Any serious Japanese player enters multiple SBO qualifier tournaments if he doesn’t get in the first time.
The nation is relatively small, they can afford to do this.
I don’t care about your garbage about madcatz or capcom or whatever other nonsense you’re trying to bring up, those are basically strawman arguments that have nothing to do with the issue at hand.
Learn your debate fallacies, arguing by terrible analogy is one of them.
Actually, that’s exactly what happened. They didn’t even attend any of the SBO qualifiers.
I had heard that you had to have won a local qualifier to even be considered for LCQ, but apparently that wasn’t true either (they let Poongko in the “hat”).
Giving Daigo/Iyo a spot was definitely bullshit, either way.
For SBO to buck on even letting Hsien/Bananaken have a play-in is pretty shitty, but at the end of the day, they let them play, and in a single elim format, there is literally zero difference between being in the top 32, and having to play one set to get in to that spot… especially if you lose the play-in anyway.
In single elim, you lose, you go home. They lost to an SBO qualified team, and they went home. They lost at SBO. I don’t see the difference, personally.
In single elim, only first place is definitively determined. Everything else is up in the air. You lost to somebody at some point. That’s single elim.
Maybe you should get you facts straight cause Daigo never tried for any of the other sbo qualifiers. The only one he try was this LCQ. There were rumors that he didnt want to join sbo this year, but for some reason decided to join the lcq.
People here need to learn the difference between an invitational versus an open tournament. SBO is not an open tournament, and never has been. It has been at best, a pseudo-open tournament (only because technically anyone who wins a qualifier could get a spot), but ultimately, Arcadia decides on who gets to play in it, or who to delegate that decision to. If they wanted to give Daigo and Iyo a better chance of making SBO (or even to just outright give them a spot), that’s well within their rights. Other sports do this too, so I’m not sure why so many people get their panties in a bunch over it
i dont know, besides the PZ thing, daigo thing, and not gettin to watch some of the “important matches”… its not really THAT bad to actually blow shit up lol
but yeah, i do feel like its not worth paying 4000yen for that shit…
it has some nice moments… but i really feel like im having fun at a godsgarden or nsb event… or any other event ive been to haha
anyway im workin on writing/translating some shit in japanese for the japanese people to voice out their opinion vocally if theyre unhappy with how things are
gonna take some time though cause i cant write some half assed shit lol
I said this before, but before AE dropped it really felt like Godsgarden was going to be the premier tournament. There was more hype for it and people were really starting to take notice. Then AE dropped and everything went back to SBO.
I think Godsgarden could pick up the ball if they wanted to, but since the Japanese gaming scene still revolves around the arcade they’re content to just roll with SBO. You are right though, now would be a great time for EVO Japan to come back and take the ball.
so now that all japanese spots have been granted, will we see more drama at the last chance qualifiers ? did daigo, mago and tokido even try to get a regular spot ? also wtf @no show from kindevu and iyo ?
