SUG~GOI! Arcana Heart 2: HELLA USEFUL Edition

People still play her here, we’ve got a few solid Kira’s. Nico would be a better bet than youtube I would imagine.

Check out the B-4 qualifier vids on Nico Video: there are two good Kira players there, one pink w/ Metal, the other blue w/ Poison.

Kind of makes sense if they qualified in Hokkaido (since the majority of top players are based in Kansai region and I doubt most people are willing to travel to Hokkaido just to qualify)

My Kamui will be beastly as soon as I master my Lang-gong JC combo and hitconfirm off of picks.

Also, a friend of mine who I do sessions with uses Maori with that metal Arcana (forgot the name). He’s really good/annoying with it. Combined with playing a really good defense, he got that shield, uses her sister summons to keep me out while he charges meter (and hence upgrades the arcana abilities) and uses those spears [super] for good damage and combos.

Its like the perfect arcana for her; surprised it isn’t her “default”.

Steel works well with few characters (including Maori, Yoriko and Kira) but pretty much forces the player to adopt a turtle style that sacrifices combo damage output in favor of charging meter.

It’s fine if the player really enjoys that cagey playstyle, but I certainly don’t think it’s the best Arcana for Maori.

I think Ka (he turtles in just about every game we play) is just fine with that. BTW, concerning damage output, he has a simple combo where does launch XX Lv.2/lv.3 Dikaiosi. It hurts…

Out of curiosity what would you say is Maori’s best Arcana?

You can pretty much play any Arnana with Maori, but certain ones are obviously better. I personally like Dieu Mort the most because of the extra combo potential she gets off super teleports and 2[E], on top of poison cloud being a good zoning tool. Gier is also good because it gives her a extra dimension of zoning options and guard crush set ups, but it’s a combination you will need some practice with.

Unlike other characters, projectiles are less of a factor when choosing Arcana for Maori because she already has the ability to play strong zoning game with her summons.

What I focus more so are the combos and basic ability options she gains from the Arcana selection. Homing guage recovery is important to Maori as well, as you will be using the guage quite a bit just by maneuvering her in the air.
Some other notable Arcanas:
[] Love - Extra danmaku; simple but effective.
[
] Wind - Pushblock and extra mobility in air from triple jump.
[] Time - Time ball, 5[E] and 6D mix-up options; time-specific combos.
[
] Lightning - Additional clash options; lightning-specific combos.
[] Sin - Extra danmaku, offense and defense buffs, 5[E] guard crush.
[
] Fire - Fireballs, offense buff, reversal super.

Ice - Ice dash, ice-specific combos.
Steel is okay if your focus is to turtle and power up your Arcana specials/supers, but Maori needs to constantly use the super meter to deal damage in her combos so I would much rather use Arcanas where you can normally gain meter through offense. Playing steel also takes extra thought process because every time you charge, you are compensating other aspects of your game (Shortening your combos, loosening your summon strings). If you want to really, really turtle with her, Flower and Water are both much better options IMO.

Also, ACT qualified (I just checked). So that makes 2 Maori so far.

I really want Densetsu no Otaku to qualify (since he plays Maori now), and always feel bad when I hear of his struggles on Arcadia.

Hey I just noticed something: air-unblockable moves are blockable if you’re in blockstun already?

Kira blocks Kamui’s 3B in the air while in blockstun from Gier.

I’m having a little difficulty seeing it. Kamui did 3B twice, but the Gier super was attacking both times simultaneously (or so it seems). Does the game register hits that occur on the same frame?

Unblockable attacks don’t register during block stun. For example, 236236E with Dieu Mort while the opponent is in block stun (btw, the move is a hit-grab and not a throw). So it’s quite possible that the game doesn’t recognize additional attacks once a character enters block stun state.

I think it still accepts guard crush, however.

Something for the Zenia players.

Damn, TWENTY-SEVEN minutes. Thanks for posting the link. This actually gives me some ideas for my next video, but you can count on it not using Wind arcana. :V

Fixed.

The only top players in Kansai are guy-girl, douchebag, and kouya. We have some decently strong players, but “top” players? nah, aside from those few there aren’t really any. They’re mostly in Tokyo area.

Tho guy-girl and kouya did travel to Okinawa to qualify for AH2, strangely enough.

I was thinking Kanto in my head but somehow typed Kansai when I had to put it out in English D;
