SUG~GOI! Arcana Heart 2: HELLA USEFUL Edition

Well, what did you LIKE about Kamui/lang gong? What did you use as Kamui/lang gong. You might even consider switching characters AND arcana’s. The games are quite different. Kamui no longer has range that nobody can compete with…

She still has range though :looney:

Kamui has a much stronger oki game in AH2 than AHF, which makes her a stronger offensive/setup character than before; meanwhile her pokes were made a BIT weaker but she is still a strong zoning character. You’ll have to change your basic ground combos a bit but otherwise she’s still pretty similar to her AHF incarnation (though the same can’t be said for the way matchups might play out).

Lang-Gong is also… pretty much the same. Arcana homing makes it a bit easier to use the fireball as a method to get in, but you have to homing the flamethrower super to really combo after it now so that could take getting used to (if you’re used to like sweep XX flamethrower super, dash up into combo or air combo to flamethrower super, airdash to knockdown).
On the plus side, you get fireball combos from midscreen that push to the corner really well. They’re just kinda weird to get used to at first.

I mean I’m not a huge fan of fire Kamui but it works and it isn’t terribly different from AHF.

Heartnana, I never looked at the tier lists or match-ups for AH1.

I mean, I hear Kamui is pretty high up there ( I guess) but I just picked the character because I thought I’d like to play with her, and I picked Lang gong because I like fire elements. And then I tried to make it work.

So from my matches, I’ve found (of course) she’s got that good pick range, I like the recovery on her projectile; makes for good blockstrings. Her combos are solid.

With Lang Gong, I find I can play her zoning game similar to my Akuma in other games, with alternating of her regular projectile and the arcana one, also the ground fireball, gives her a good, AA, I think and I believe you can homing cancel into a combo if you’re quick enough although I have not tried this.

The flamethrower I’ve found works great in combos, add it in twice in a JC combo then super, does awesome damage although I cannot do it as consistently as I’d like.

Finally I like her qcf, qcf+X arcana super; gives her a nice “get off of me” maneuver if I’m being pressured and you can get a homing combo off of it. I also like thinking up tactics and tricks using the unblockable properties of fully charged 6C and 3C, along with the HCF+AB after a KD/or at an advantage; reminds me of my Dizzy tactics in GGXX.

Cool?

Ok cool, good description:

It seems like if you want good poke range, you might want to also try out clarice. She’s mad fast, has great range on normals too. You might also like Petra, since she’s got decent range with her guns, and her projectiles are super solid.

Yeah, you can HC fireball and combo after it pretty easily. You have to HC before you see if the fireball is gonna hit the opponent usually, but it’s very easy to combo from it. As anti-air tho, I think it’s kind of slow personally, and it doesn’t do much good vs the opponents who do the cross-up air attack…

However, in AH2, Kamui already gets a decent amount of damage from her combos, and it’s almost not necessary to end in fire super when it’s generally a much better option to ground the opponent with her air super or 421C.

Fire isn’t a bad choice by any means. I think you might be able to get more out of using an arcana that adds more setups and takes advantage of her new crazy good crossup with 41236X rather than tacking on a bit of extra damage.

I’ve seen players use the flower arcana recently. It’s not a bad choice, and has some sick setups with the 236236E super. Love is also used a lot because she can combo into 236236E off of her 41236A without burning homing.

Sin is also interesting. The projectiles are a really good setup, as they’re slow moving and stun for a while. There’s that counter thing, where Kamui can set it up, and then attack outside of the range of it, and the charge E for Sin is really really buff.

Overall, it sounds like you like Kamui a lot, but I think if you try a few new arcanas, you might have more fun than you think. I’ve been playing Fire Petra for a while, and while Fire is awesome cause of the damage boost and stuff, it’s very basic. So using mirror, time and ice helped mix up some stuff and make the same character even more interesting. I think Kamui became more interesting in AH2, so having an arcana that works well with that could make it a lot more fun. You might like it basic tho, nothing wrong with that either, but I feel like there’s far more options in AH2 than there were in AH1, and that they’re more fun to use as well.

Cool?

Good Call, Bill. That looks like it was from an Athena tourney. That looks like how Shingo plays, and the Saki looks like Zabiel. Same colors, too.

Hopefully that gives a decent idea about why the mirror is so buff for Petra.

Sin Kamui is pretty cool IMO.

Sin is a cool arcana in general

One bad thing about sin is that specials, supers and charge E moves chip away chunks of your character’s health so you need to kind that in mind when you play.

Cool.

Yeah, as far as the fireball being an AA, I should have elaborated and just said Preemptive, like not on wakeup or anything; in any other case I’d just block or use the dp reversal move if I was feeling confident.

Thanks for confirmation on it being able to combo with a HC.

No, its not set in stone with her using lang gong, although I would prefer it to be her main; I do indeed like an air of simplicity to derive my tactics from, but I’m always willing to try out other things.

Mizuumi’s DNS provider is down at the moment. Mizuumi itself is fine, and I’ve already swapped nameservers to another provider so it should start propagating tomorrow.

So we just finished our first proper AH2 tourney the other day here in Singapore. It was a ton of fun and definitely a success I think. Hopefully we’ll be able to organise more of these. Hopefully with 2.6. (Right now it’s 2.5) Haha.

Vids have been uploaded to Kilvear’s account:

(Much thanks to him for helping us with the recording equipment)

Some comments I guess:

A good deal of the players are either new or don’t have much experience in AH2. Some never even having touched AH2 prior to the tournament (but have backgrounds in AH1). So the level of play isn’t particularly high. It’s also probably why you see so many Hearts and Sakis. You even get to see two Catherines try see how far spin spam gets them. :looney:

I played like shiiiiiiiit in the opening rounds. It’s just embarassing. Not like I didn’t drop a good deal of my combos later when I was playing better anyway though. Haha. Oddly enough, Ah Ning ( the winner) wasn’t playing too well in the beginning either.

There were a good amount of pretty intense moments. The finals were pretty hype. And we all cheered when Dan(Xlenz) sent Joel to losers. And again when I eliminated him. (Because 2.5 Akane is soooooo retarded.) That match also features I think the only draw via timeout I’ve ever seen ever. :looney:

Ah Ning was a bit of a dark horse throughout the tourney and in the end he did manage to win. Dan was the one we all expected to win. Haha.

Anyway, hope you guys enjoy the vids. And hopefully we can run another one before Dan has to go to the army.

I’ve posted the results on srk too
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=188596

Anyways I played like shit too dropping kamui combos left and right! I shld have stick to heart or saki :frowning:

finally vids are out!!

thks a thousand times to kilvear & sugar & all who help taking/ riping vids

after seeing, the match with sugar (kamui) & the saki player, (the final match of winner brackets & grand final)
i still dunno where my mistakes are…

(i know i miss quite alot of my combo… maybe is due to pressure lol… i can do them well during casuals xD )

care to comment anyone?? =P

Thanks for sharing! Very cool tournament!

Congrats Ah Ning + Xlenz + SugarMilkTea. And thanks for the vids, Kilvear.

So Akane didn’t win it? I’m surprised. :looney:

Joel is an MB player who recently started playing the game. So he actually plays the game like he plays MB. Which isn’t really optimal. Haha. You’ll notice he missed a lot of combo opportunities.

I’ve updated my list of SBO qualifier results:

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?p=6571437#post6571437

Notable teams:

Team ???
??? == Jamu (Lilica)
ACT (Maori)

It’s miu-ACT! This team went on to face the winners of the GAME-SKY pre-qual (good luck with that), but the results aren’t up yet.

Team ???
VJ (Fiona)
?? == Gao (Dorothy)

aka Team LOW-TIER! And yes, they qualified for SBO! :bgrin:

Now that I know not all winning teams qualify for SBO, I’ve adjusted the character counts accordingly:

Mei-Fang 3 :arazz:
Catherine 2
Angelia 1
Clarice 1
Dorothy 1
Fiona 1
Kamui 1
Maori 1
Nazuna 1
Petra 1
Saki 1
Akane 0
Elsa 0
Heart 0
Kira 0
Konoha 0
Lieselotte 0
Lilica 0
Yoriko 0
Zenia 0

14 players (out of 64?) accounted for.

Edit: Vids from the B-4 qualifiers can be found here on Nico Video:
http://www.nicovideo.jp/mylist/11701089

Edit 2: Some good Liese and Kira action in this one:

Team low tier qualified in hokkaido, not in tokyo. Big difference, and just something to keep in mind…

Just curious, what’s kira’s current standing nowadays? It’s not like I try really hard, but whenever I search for videos or stuff about kira mostly crap comes up or nothing at all. She doesn’t seem to be as popular as vanilla ah2. Maybe I have to look up nico video?
