It is a popular misconception that New Yorkers are rude. Impatient, I can understand, but Rude?! Actually, the reason why they are regarded as “mean” is because there is a rhythm, a system in NY. Interrupt that rhythm, and people will get upset. But, if you stop almost anyone, they will be willing to help.
granted, these are based on old surveys, but come to ny. It may take a day or two to get into the rhythm, but once you do, you’ll see people are a lot more courteous than one would typically anticipate.
I don’t think I’ve ever visited a city and thought “wow the people in this city in general are rude.” The only time I thought people were overtly polite was when I was in Japan, and only because I can’t imagine myself having the same patience trying to help someone who I can’t communicate with.
If you’re not white, Boston has to be #1. Otherwise I assume this list is fine. NY sucks btw. Socal is generally the best but I guess LA has a high wannabe model/actress quotient so I can see where that comes from. But San Diego was really nice.
“Name a city you had an isolated bad experience in, whose populace you now generalize based on that one incident, ignoring the fact that you probably just didn’t take a couple minutes to figure out how things worked there, or you’re an idiot.”
