Street Fighter x Tekken DLC/Balance patch: 7/31/2012

This is why I hate loops. It degenerates players into using only a handful of options. I hate it even more when it’s deliberately put in (i.e. RSF).

I wanna see what else they’ll be doing for Xiaoyu because I just don’t feel she’s well rounded - aka not solid.

When the SFxT panel concluded and the changes were announced, some random stream monster was like “Ugh, I can’t believe they’ve made this game EVEN WORSE”

“Addressing” Ravens cr.HP loop? Noooooooooooo!

lol. If they don’t change anything else, he’ll still be pretty good.

Raven’s c.HP is hardly the reason he’s so stupid. My guess is that they just want to nerf his tag potential, Cross Rush into c.HP loop xx Tag is pretty silly.

Yeah I agree, and without the cr.HP loop I think he’ll be at a good place where he’s strong but not too strong. Like every character should be.

I should´ve included SRK frontpage in the “Eventhubs doesn´t count” bracket.

Good thing is, these haters don´t count either.

Are we allowed to discuss the DLC characters now? I faced a guy who used them–first time I’ve ever seen them–and wanted to post a link to Youtube.

I wanna see that. Go for it

If you’re talking about SRK, I don’t think we’ve ever vetoed discussing the characters, just how to unlock them. Hell, we’ve had their character threads up for a long time now.

They were together in a lot of movies since Jackie was a stuntman at that time. Look at the end of Chinese Connection where the guy is kicked through a wall at the end. That’s Jackie.

Any game without X-factor or Ultra’s -> bad game.

Thank god for the option to disable chat. Reading it makes me go cross-eyed sometimes. ^^

Ok, thanks! Gonna upload some footage of me facing Dudley and Elena. Thanks.

Hey, that’s a better tag team name.

Anyway, this news is good indeed. Although I don’t understand most of the balance changes, I think it’s all for the better especially if they get rid of that Raven loop. He’s still a good fighter even without that, right? You may call me a scrub but I feel that move is too cheesy, isn’t it?

and one would reply, “It’s marvel baby”. More like it’s bullshit baby. There’s only one honest way to avoid the bs and that’s soulfisting your opponent into death or boredom. I couldn’t get into marvel because it was tons worse than sf. At anytime you could lose and sometimes doing the right thing such as blocking doomed you into a set up that kills you. SFXT actually prevented that as in if you blocked one way it would block the otherside from you as well to prevent unblockables. You have a roll to avoid vortexs that you just had to deal with in ae 2012.
I mean believe it or not we may be seeing gems in the future and i’m fine with them now since capcom has said no auto tech and auto block gems allowed. Yes to all of this and THIS should be an option for online play. This game can and will get better because capcom hasn’t given up on it. It believes in the game even with all the bad PR and glitches. People will always hate and make fun of this game, that’s just the ignorance of the bandwagoners. Just keep playing this game if you enjoy it. Even if you’re playing it by yourself in your community at least strive to be “that guy” in sfxt.

To me it’s just hard to believe SFxT is the game no one wanted to “adapt” to, while month 1 everyone was already talking about dropping Marvel 3, game can’t be saved, bad Capcom PR, all the above. I might sound like a broken record on this topic but it’s baffling to me. And now that capcom is finally taking the steps to change some stuff ppl have been complaining about for 4 months, it’s still a problem, and to late to change, but UMVC3 was more defended than this. I like UMVC3,AE and SFxT,its just crazy.

While I’m glad to hear they intend to make an attempt at balancing their assist gems, that is not the solution. Auto-block and auto-tech gems need to be removed entirely and never be spoken of again.

Even if acceptably balanced, the existence of a mechanic so contrary to the spirit of Street Fighter and fighting games in general only serves to bring down public opinion of the game. This game needs to regain competitive credibility in the eyes of the community at large to survive.

If you are a skilled player, seek out equal competition and get noticed. To this day there is not nearly enough media saturation of this game being played to its potential. We need a longer roster of high level players to supplement the improvements being made to the engine.

Once the patch is released, I want to see a surge of high level, entertaining match footage posted all over the community. Even in its current state, pro level play of this game IMO is stream-worthy. Unfortunately Capcom’s terrible handling of feedback throughout SFxT’s lifetime thus far has severely hampered it’s progress as a spectator sport. However, upon release of a significant patch such as this, we can capitalize on the opportunity to show this game’s true colors and change alot of minds.

@thancruz People didn’t like it at first because of gems. Then everyone was hype and then everyone was upset because of the 12 on disk characters. Then the game was “boring”. Using the clock as strat was deemed boring. Chain combos which were ‘lucky’ hits were scrubby. The game was thus deemed shitty by the fgc, but ironically mvc3 was shitter as it was a more incomplete game and had on disk characters on it but people were like mrah mrah mrah it’s marvel baby but you know what the community stuck by the game even with all its flaws. Then “cashcom” cashed in and then released umvc3 which came out WITH THE SAME ON DISK CHARACTERS, and people were like it’s fine because it’s marvel. It’s like the defacto excuse with anything in the game. If it’s broken it is because it’s marvel. I mean players ask them not to fix the broken stuff yet when broken stuff is found in sfxt ppl say, game broken on and its shit too. Like uh…what? The gameplay is so honest on paper in terms of options that meter management plays a bigger role than in ae and mvc3. When you lose you know why you lost. When you get hit it’s your fault because you either whiffed or didn’t block a mix up. In ae you just deal with certain things and some characters have no choice such as Juri and in marvel just expect “marvel baby” when shit happens.
@sliph let’s do our best to show this games potential but most importantly let’s have fun. Let’s get creative. I want to try and plan a invite tourney like curley mustache so the best of the best sfxt guys can play each other to lvl up and show off tech. I’m glad the community here has stuck by the game as well, i’m sure it’ll all pay off for us all.

it sucks becuase now this game is like second class citizen of capcom games…if your not playing ssf4 or marvel your going to have a hard time finding a tourny

Capcom has no one to blame but themselves but the poor tournament-level interest in the game. If they would have actually listened to the few very simple complaints people have had with the game, I assure you it would be a main stage, full-streamed game at Evo this year. If there were an easy no-gems mode, a way to turn off auto-combos (before the upcoming patch) and they hadn’t basically disgusted half the players with their DLC practices, I think the game would be MUCH more popular.

dlc harm the game the most. the simple excuse of saying the game is shit doesn’t do the justice of the people who spent so much money when the game first came out. There were a few of my friends who bought the expensive special edition for gems and only to find out that they have to pay for them again later. I on the other hand chose the reg edition because i was going to play with no gems regardless. These are the ones who hate the game the most. All other reasons why people hate this game derives from that. I think capcom shouldn’t have just given free dlc codes to ppl at evo but the people who bought the special edition. They are the ones who lost faith in the game and some even in capcom.
I was happy with what i had and i’ve been with capcom a long time. They do this kinda stuff all the time, don’t pretend they don’t because they do. First edition second edition and third. They wanted to allocate everyone on one thing…it was a bad move that had been exposed once with mvc3 and again with xtekken and i’m glad they got a wake up call. Capcom listens and only wants to please their fans. Not many companies will go out their way for their fans. The reason why most of us are probably playing in the fgc is because we played a capcom game once in our childhood or maybe you’re from the new generation of gamers. No matter your background or what game you started on you have an attachment to these games and the fgc. I feel that there is indeed a lot of discrimination for sfxt fans and its players who are trying to play at a tourney level. If you can’t find it guys then you gotta do your best to create one.
