ya, it’s alot narrower but longer…on a regular TE you could fit another row of buttons on top of the existing buttons…this one is alot smaller…as an art template maker, my job just got harder…lol…
i just don’t see the point in that wasted space next to the stick. i don’t like the slanted design. i’d prefer a large flat surface under the buttons to rest my palms. i don’t like feeling any kind of edges, which is why on my TEs i have the plexis without middle screws.
The space on the left side of the stick makes sense when you place your left hand on the stick and your right hand over the 6 main buttons and see that each of your hands is of equal distance away from the edge, unless of course you use the straight 6 rightmost buttons.
The slant is obviously there to make the stick closer in feel to the Vewlix cabinet control panels, much like what Hori did with their V3/VX SA sticks.
There are some people that hold the stick in a way where it falls off the left edge if there isn’t 5 inches to the left of it.
If you look at this pic, the way that these guys hold it, they need that extra hand space. If that space wasn’t there the palm would fall over the corner if it was like a EX2 or Agetec.
