define investment
no there is no such thing as "it’s an investment to me"
it’s a word with a set definition
Arcade mode allows you to play against multiple cpu characters without having to go to the main menu everytime
no need to manage health like survival
yes CPU don’t act like real opponents for those of us who have a good amount of experience in SF, it’s a stepping stone to prepare people for online
building muscle memory for bnb’s
basic situations/scenarios
practicing hit confirms
it’s much harder to build muscle memory for those things against players that vary from ass to extremely good
Ok so like many I was pretty PO’d about the no Arcade Mode but after messing with Survival it isnt too bad. Id even say its better than Arcade. It doesnt end, gets increasingly harder, more of a challenge, faster pace (even if you lose and start over), and unless youre after max points or have a really bad fight its fairly easy to heal up. Worst case, you lose and are fighting again in seconds.
What do I care about “beating the game” anyway? I did all the story modes and it was just as bad as in the previous SF games.
Not that im excusing them. I still think Capcom should be embarrassed at this sad excuse for a fully priced game.
Theres no reason for Capcom to be embarrassed about anything. They created an amazing fighting game for tournament and human vs human competition. The fighting engine itself is extremely polished and well balanced. They released a road map that explained their plans for SFV launch so no one was blindsided.
Capcom released the game this month due to the fact that the Capcom Pro Tour starts next month. They needed to get it into peoples hands so they can start training. If the tour started later the game would of been released later. The game is still worth $60 bucks because you are still receiving everything you paid for. Cinematic Story mode/Arcade mode, Store, Challenges/trails, updated lounge support for higher player count, and the ability to get every DLC character and story mode costume for free.
Now if Capcom was charging for any of these DLC updates then I would 100% agree with you but for $60 you are getting your money’s worth. You are just being inpatient. Personally I have no problems in waiting for these free updates. Theres plenty to do right now.
I would rather Capcom do two more rounds of Beta testing (including one open beta to truly test the server stability), than launch the game at this current state.
I would rather Capcom wait til March/April to get the vs CPU/Ladder matches ready, and get the Lobbies ready.
To maintain the credibility of the SF brand and for me to not feel stressed, yes delay the release.
Ok lets delay the release but what about all those people that put time off at work, paid for air flight and hotel to go to a tournament? last I check you cant just request a vacation a moments notice from work. That stuff needs to be planned. We also know that once you give your money to any airline you arent getting a refund unless you cancel within 24 hours. So lets screw them for you to be able to play 8 CPU controlled dummies that read your buttons? Yea i dont think so.
a open beta would have allowed people to train and tournaments to continue with theire shedule!
there was no reason to release the game in its current state.
they did and now they get the response from the people via metascore and steam ratings.
Yea from people that arent into fighting games. This game is designed for Human vs Human play. Thats the focus of SFV and they are acting like none of these features will be added and if they are its paid DLC. Which we all know this isnt the case. If you wanted to just play the CPU, theres plenty of games you could buy that are already out there. You werent force to buy on day 1. So any of those complaints are just inpatient millennials that cant handle not getting everything they want right away.
The fighting engine, characters and balance are complete, its 100% tournament ready. Im happily playing the game vs my friends online as I learn my characters matchups.
Like what Appomo said, have an open beta February 16th until whenever instead. You can still have your tournament and your SFV vacation.
*“Sorry for the delay. We are working hard to make SFV the best game possible and need more time to release the product that our fans deserve. Here’s an open beta in the meantime. We will be watching closely to test the stability of our servers. Thank you for your patience and enjoy!” *
I’ve been getting my “arcade mode” feel from entering training mode and setting mine and the dummies life bar to normal. That way it sorta acts like a round when either bar is depleted we reset back in the middle. Then I just tune the dummies difficulty level. Because the argument that survival can just be the stopgap between when arcade mode becomes available is silly, survival even on hard, teaches some awful strategies against the AI. Like half the time I’m spamming fireballs, or doing nonstop hard read DP’s on jump ins or the AI just walking in. Plus the supplement game skews your mentality and approach, like “oh shit, I only have 25% bar left, better play super passive and defensive, even though I can see some chances to gamble a trade on”. Survival is neat, but no game changer.
You cant wait 2 months? I can, theres no extra charge. I dont see the problem. You dont have to buy the game right now. You decided to buy it, no one forced you. You could wait till june. Go play GG Xrd on PC, it was just released. Full story mode too!
Capcom straight told us was coming at launch, we all made a choice to keep our pre orders or to not do our due diligence… and trust me I’m no defender of the launch cobtebt, but I read it and said ok fine I’ll still get it, my problem now
you dont even get the point dude…
capcom would have made themself a favor when they would have gotten the above described way.
that way everyone would be happy and steam / metascores wouldnt be in the 30-40 region.
Capcom isnt worried about PC steam users that really dont care for the genre. Just their own selfish needs.
Capcom Pro Tour and those that devote themselves to it are way more important. Real FG heads that want to improve themselves vs competition.
All these complaints will be a distant forgotten memory in due time. Thats what you dont get.
What will your complaint be come summer time?
