I have this strong feeling they wil do that once they have released enough characters. I feel that 16 is just a little small size for my personal preference.
You know why ppl like me who play Street Fighter prefer an Arcade Mode? Because ppl like me actually played Street Fighter in buildings called Arcades.
Arcade mode (just like an 8-player Battle Lounge) simulates the arcade experience, SF’s roots, in your home. You play the game by yourself, going up a ladder of CPU fighters 2 out of 3, with harder and harder difficulty, until you beat the last boss, then you put your initials in because you have the highest score, & other players have to beat your score. And every once in a while, a human player can jump in on your game and challenge you.
Arcade mode keeps you sharp within the parameters of a typical 2 out of 3 match, single round Survival Mode with suppliments and Training mode bots do not.
Actually the best way to build v-trigger is usually to use your v-skill (depending on the character), but I can see where you’re coming from. It is hard to get one in during a survival match.
Why are you unable to practice confirms and anti-airs on a moving opponent in training mode?
You don’t need to justify anything. At the end of the day it’s your decision to make and no one can disrespect that. But did you buy the game for the vs. CPU option? Is it a deal-breaker for you?
Everyone acknowledges that it would be simple to add in and was a mistake to leave out, hopefully if enough people speak up Capcom might add it in sooner rather than later.
Played it yesterday. I could map my buttons semi-conviniently and versus mode worked. People had some combos that let me know training mode as also functional.
Well, content as of today is lacking. But how about nearly 7000 challenges to do! Feb launch has just been so underwhelming, let’s just have March be here now.
Well, this is what I was saying that was going to happen before the release. The game was going to lose in the beginning with casuals and a few hardcore fans, and its been pretty brutal. Apparently, everyone on Steam is shitting themselves over the game based on first impression user reviews. Plus, with the servers not connecting, it’s pretty bad. But, I knew this going in that it wasn’t going to be a smooth release. The server was only tested with only the beta testers in mind, and not with the full load PSN and Steam. While I’m not condoning how Capcom released the game (Personally, I thought there would be at least an option for difficulty.), I do believe that they will right the ship, sooner rather than later. My experience has been pretty good so far. They (Sony and Capcom) betted the farm on this, there’s no way they’re not going to do anything about this. So, with that being said, let me go back grinding for colors and labbing. LOL!
Lauch day and week and as the thread suggest we have an extended demo, any one remember shareware ?
I mean we pay money I honestly had no idea about the lack of single player contact when I pre ordered and was shocked …
I do find it difficult to defend, you pay full price for a game you met your part of the contract Capcom have not met there’s there is no argument about it sadly, just read the blurb on the back of the box.
Oh the online, no company ever learns and we are the muppets that take it and then there are even muppets out of the muppets that take this that defend the muppets that have out us in this situation which is the sad part.
Anyways let’s hope this doesn’t damage the game aka Sim City, and let’s hope going forward we have a great game with all these updates. I’m not giving up yet, I’m just disappointed…
I made a video about this very thing on my YouTube specifically talking about story mode and how lackluster that is.
Its really a shame because pro players and people who love Street Fighter already like myself would buy this day one. But Ive already heard numerous casual players saying they would hold off for now, or im glad i didn’t buy that day 1 which is a big shame imo. They fumbled the release but they at least they have things planned down the line to improve.
My biggest complaint is the servers atm, of course they are overwhelmed day 1 alot of games are even with beta tests. But the entirety of the game relies on online and being connected to servers. When its down you’ve literally got practice mode and that’s it.
All in all its day 2 of SFV and my hype is already dead.
Some of the best 3s players in Japan play vs CPU all the time. I don’t agree at all to the claim that there’s no use to arcade mode and it only teaches you bad habits. What you come down to it, all these things can teach you bad habits if used incorrectly:
Arcade mode
Online
Offline with bad players
Training mode
Nothing about any of those innately teaches you how to really play the game. It’s up to you how much you get out of any format.
I did not buy the game solely for that, but partially for it, yes. In the same vein that I bought skyrim partially for the story and partially for the exploration. It’s not a deal breaker, but I pre-ordered the game. However, if it had been a deal breaker and I found out about it after I spent 4 hours downloading it then waiting for everything to install and messing around for a bit, I’d be livid to say the least. It’s like if lego marvel avengers dropped but there was no open world Manhattan for a month after release and they didn’t bother trying to publicize that.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with this, really. The game was released early to coincide with CPT events, and the updates are free, so they’re not really missing out on anything by waiting until March or June to buy it. This is the advice I’ve been trying to give people. If you don’t think the game is worth it yet, hold off until later.
Again what is up with all the Neogaf post around here? Go over there to bitch about the non-important things you will ignore 90% of the time in the future.
That is a huge artificial inflation. There are only 27 challenges. The thing is that you can perform these challenges with every single character vs every single character. That is like saying that the game has 256 training modes since it can have any combination of 2 characters and there is 16 characters.
