Street Fighter V sales thread... Serious discussion please

So Capcom disagreed with all of you that “Arcade mode” and “Story mode” were necessary, but yet here you are with everybody else throwing a fucking tantrum in unison.

It’s perfectly fine that you and people like you don’t value the game.

What is a problem for those of us who do is that “casualers” spent half a day and not even an entire full day, giving the hard work of SFV a lasting negative review which all culminated in an awful reception for SFV’s “grand opening” over petty crap like “Story mode” or so-called “single-player content”, disregarding the entire meat of the product.

Is it right if you review a game and the score you base it on is not over the gameplay, visuals, audio, etc., but over two CPU-modes in a multiplayer game? That is what has happened with SFV and that’s what’s ticked me completely off.

SFIV lasted 7 years throughout several updates - SFV is following the same schedule, and it’s additionally free to upgrade, and day fucking 1, out of 7 years, morons like yourself gave the game a bad review.

Except SF4 had a much much better launch, basically without any errors and reviving the genre, and having a shit ton more content than SF5, so it was well received by casuals and hardcores alike.

This wasn’t excepted from what I was discussing in my post that you are quoting.

“Except” isn’t something you can just pull out of thin air, you know.

Agreed…the gameplay is amazing. I love it, haven’t loved an SF game like this since 3rd Strike. Just this isn’t arcade days anymore, and finding any halfway decent matches is impossible. It’s gotten better but still really bad, like 50/50 for me and I do have very great internet and I’m hardwired with low ping.

Also, yesterday, I kept getting kicked out of battle lounge. My friend and I could not get a lounge going, if he hosted he got kicked out, if I hosted I would get kicked out. Ridiculous…

Still having slim hope this game will survive and turn out to be a polished gem from the mounds of issues. At this point, I’m about 350 bucks in on this game. I realize Capcom doesn’t get anything for me buying a joystick and peripherals, but bottom line is I invested in all that in hopes of playing this game competitively.

Those hopes are diminishing lol…guess I’ll save it for Tekken 7.

Why are you guys still entertaining this fool? The reality on the ground speaks for itself. No need to justify it or even consider his deluded point of view. In a few days we will get the sales data, and the market will have spoken. Single player content will make or break your game in 2016, no matter how good the engine is. Can’t handle it? Enjoy oblivion.

You got it ass-backwards. It’s in 2016 that’s it all about multiplayer, because of the “internet”.

And you regard me as the fool?

You are totally correct in that the online-part has been wonky.

I had the same issues as you initially, but after 3-4 days it got resolved by Capcom. I still get disconnects from Battle-lounge from time to time, and everything isn’t silky-smooth just yet, including not being able to tell what country most of the players are from in said Battle-lounge.

I have several small gripes and issues with the game too, but I’m not acting like an ungrateful homeless person with a video game-console as his only possession and with less patience and perserverance and understanding than a psychopath.

I think lots of issues will get resolved with the first patch. If you because of this regard this as a bad product, then fine, but you can’t review a game as bad on its first day, then fully enjoy it 4 weeks later and for several years, but still have your lousy-review lingering with the product still for sale for other customers.

Let me also say this; I don’t play much of anything single-player anymore, but in the 3-4 days that the online functionality was more or less absent, there was plenty of opportunity for “single-player enthusiasts” to actually try out and play the 16 characters in first Training mode to get acquainted, then Story mode for some story-stuff, then Survival mode to get at least a few alternate costume-colors. This should at least take a few days, but no — everybody was dissatisfied still to the point of all hell breaking loose.

JUST RETURN THE GAME DUH HERP DERP

Now you’re just trolling at the lack of an argument.

Bravo.

How is your app, by the way? Is all the content in place on day one? I looked at it on the app-store, but didn’t see it labelled as “beta”, you stinking hypocrite.

I really wonder sometimes if you guys are coordinating this or something. Are all of you just some Alt accounts of the same person ?

Troll for sure. I’m prepared to take your bait, I got some free time.

If somebody posts something with valid points, or just points to consider - your response completely neuters all valuable discussion and your general response is a half-hearted insult to cover up your lack of valid points. Or you ignore their points entirely and repeat your original argument without providing legitimate backing. You’re ignorant as fuck and can’t discuss something in a civilized manner, which worries me doubly so if you’re an adult. Good luck in the world with your dog-shit attitude.

However when you reply to somebody who does the exact same thing as you do - i.e. blind man-child rage and writing nothing of substance, you call them out for the exact same thing(Lack of concrete argument, trolling, throwing random insults). You can’t really call anybody a hypocrite, you’re a definitive example of the word.

I’m gonna carry on saying SFV has no content, the online is garbage and Capcom are an incompetent company who treat their fans new and old like garbage. What’re you gonna do to stop me? Change my mind through civilised discussion or just call me an asshole and call it a day? I could give a shit less, you’ve completely invalidated yourself through the way the act. Wanna defend the game? Be my guest, make me change my mind without derailing the discussion into nothing more than insults and belittling, because you probably can’t.

Game isn’t worth it’s full price tag in it’s current state - not subjective, fact. You can finish everything it has to offer within 2 hours, and online isn’t stable.

TL;DR

I really really like memes.

Can’t we just say SFV is dead, start buying MKXL, tell Lupe he doesn’t know what he’s talking about and that MKX is the GOAT and close the thread?

probably one of the worst video game launches ever?
you honestly can’t even try to fanboy by saying the competition content is worth it without the single player modes because even that doesn’t work correctly

bad connections
constant disconnects
disconnects even using offline modes
can’t connect to friends
1v1 lounges
no disconnect penalties

My arguments have been this:

A) Good gameplay doesn’t come out of thin air
B ) SFV has amazing gameplay
C) The netcode is fantastic
D) The player-pool is united and not divided
E) The menus and lobby-systems are very nice and clean
F) The music is amazing
G) The visuals are gorgeous
H) The training mode is superb
I) The voice-acting is great
J) The online-interaction including predefined chat is laid out for a great experience
K) The game is free to upgrade unlike SFIV
L) There is more content and patching and fixing on the way, ever since the point of release and several years onward

Meanwhile, your kind has been moaning that A) “But I wanted all the content now!”, and B ) “Where is more content?!?”

You said it yourself;

This is not a good plan for you. I’m going to wish you the same good luck you wished me with “in this world with my dog-shit attitude”.

And I agree with nearly all of your arguments. You’re not wrong on points A-L. But you have to understand that the Launch Day is always about making a good first impression. When games are released with both a multitude of single player content for casuals as well as well balanced and great online play, then you have a successful launch.

The main point of this entire thread is about SALES. And I’m not complaining about the gameplay, or the music, or the graphics. But there was something about the game that lead to a loss in sales. At launch, it failed to reach it’s projected number.

What we’re debating is why SFV failed at launch. I didn’t say it was a shit game. I enjoy it very much. But the fact is that numbers don’t lie. Something was either broken or missing that convinced players NOT to buy the game.

When a large percentage of your consumers are casual players, you have to be able to cater to their needs as well. not just for the hardcore competetive scene. Capcom failed to do so and that lead to a loss of sales.

A way you can entice casuals to purchase the game is to offer something for them. And not just give them bare bones or anything minimal. That’s why we’re suggesting an **Arcade Mode, A completed Story mode. Vs. CPUs. Challenges and Trials. **

These are all examples of getting casuals to enjoy the game without having to face the pressures of joining the competitive scene right away. You must entice them first before they ultimately decide whether to join the competitive scene.

We can argue ALL DAY about what modes are lacking, or what makes SFV good or what makes it bad, or net code, or what ever. One thing you CAN’T argue is that SFV flopped at launch.

I cant understand how you people can go bananas over missing Arcade/Time mode.

We are living in 2016 internet era and you people want to play against CPU?

You people are crazy.

And your reading comprehension skill is very poor if you think people here are going bananas over missing arcade mode. Have a seat.

can’t buy MKXL on PC, feelsgoodman

I hope this game lives…considering buying season pass but dont wanna buy season pass for this game if it’s gonna die like sfxt

Im gonna play this awesome game called Street Fighter 5 and yiu can keep on crying over Arcade/Time mode.

Hello again.

The thing is that there is a limitied amount of resources any company including Capcom can put into a product.

If we agree on points A and B, that it takes work to create a good and balanced gameplay especially in the competitive genre, then we should begin to understand why everything didn’t fit into the time-budget, and why some content that belongs in the back row in a fighting game is coming at a later time because it fell down the priority-list.

Sure, I would also like all sorts of “fluff” to be included in the game, but I fully agree with not focusing on that, especially when work remains on making the actual game itself that the player will actually play, in those various modes like Arcade, Story and Trials, to be as good as it can be. And by the sound of it, everyone agrees that the gameplay is amazing, but nobody seems to understand why, and everybody cries how random junk didn’t make the cut and gives the game 0 stars over it.

At the same time, we have dudes like “Froztey” who seemingly belong to the community but presumably shout louder than these “casuals” you have concern for over the game not having enough content. People like him probably rated the game 0 stars on its day of release without realizing much of anything other than “I wanted more”, and that’s what’s made me aggressive in this thread towards people like him.

I’ve heard people here say “Capcom tried to have their cake and eat it too”, but I’d say it’s the other way around - Capcom made a fantastic game and delivered what they could in their time-frame, but people wanted more.

I have nothing more to say, so please keep it in a good tone if you have a reply, but I want to sign myself out now.

He can sit right next to you.

Could care less about the content, this is a sales discussion thread and why people aren’t happy with the product.

We’re discussing the reasoning behind the bad sales of SFV, and why the game isn’t worth it’s weight in value on release day which in turn leads to bad sales for Capcom. Aside from the included features not working as intended, we’re also taking note that the lack of a coherent story mode/arcade mode detracts from having the game be an appealing purchase to casual gamers AKA the bulk of the sales.

My only personal gripe is that the online is in a sorry state, I’m not a casual player so I don’t care about the single player content.

But in your eyes, everybody here is complaining and trying to boycott the game without rhyme or reason, as shown by your insanely heated responses to posts that showed no sign of hostility towards you. Astounding.

Thanks for a legitimate reply though, appreciated.
