Street Fighter V Lounge "We on South Central crack addict status"

Joe is basically Cody and Mike is Boxer.

We’ll see. The translation is “A live demonstration with a playable build” that could be interpreted a few ways. Either that there is a live demonstration AND a playable build or that the live demonstration IS the playable build.

Yeah but Capcom has been pretty consistent about saying that Mike is NOT Balrog (even though Balrog is Mike Bison originally) and haven’t really commented on Joe. With how few moves the SF1 cast had they could reintroduce them and pretty heavily re-invent them while still keeping their original SF1 moves and updating the look.

That said I don’t really want them to come back as they aren’t terribly interesting. I’d rather have Retsu/Geki who could be expanded on a lot better IMO. Bringing eagle back would be cool as he had a pretty neat move set in CvS2.

Do we really need yet another black boxer?

Ken Bogard got some inside info of his own in this video:

*- Time / Weather effects in stages

  • Release date : 2016, before the end of the fiscal year.
  • Unreal Engine 4
  • The new mechanic is named V-Trigger : You can change your stance.
  • 16 characters
  • No Super Street Fighter 2X + EX (Updates kinda like League of Legends / Killer Instinct)
  • The story mode will be way much better, they know they fucked up with sf4.
  • The PC version is here mostly because they want to bring the game to Latin America, South Asia, Africa… *

What do you mean by “No Super Street Fighter 2X+EX”? Also, the mechanic being named v-trigger falls in line with what some other guy was spreading rumors about, though in that case it was said that v-trigger was the name of a new character.

I think it means that updates will be more like seasonal updates than the full Super/AE/Ultra updates that IV got.

It means no “Super” edition type of updates. It’ll be handled like Killer Instinct / LoL with “seasonal” updates with individual characters/content added piecemeal instead of 1 big update. Ultimately makes Capcom A LOT more money due to saving money on creating physical goods as well as charging more for less content.

Good in that it’ll mean more regular updating to fix issues such as bugs, bad in that the game will be given less time to breath and probably cost more for players who want access to all characters for training purposes.

16 characters, and you can choose between stances for every one of them. Is it me or does it sound like they’re mimicking Mortal Kombat X?

Not really, MKX you choose the stances outside of the battle IIRC. This sounds like something you do mid match.

I kind of wonder though, giving everyone access to stance changing, does that increase or decrease the chances of characters who are already known for having stances? Specifically Cody (Hands/knife) and Gen (mantis/crane)

“16 characters” is freakin’ great! I’m hoping SFV - after all seasons/updates - won’t have more than 25 chars.

I hope there are 2 updates max, with 5 or 6 characters each. If they are priced reasonably ($15 or $20) and include new stages and/or modes then I’ll be ok with it.

If they do it any other way, I can’t see people (including me) being too happy it. I think they’re going to need to include more content in their SF5 dlc than they did for SF4 dlc, mostly to keep casuals happy if the 16 character info is true.

Better story mode!

It said in that rumor that they’d do it LoL / Killer Instinct style. This means they’ll likely release characters 1 at a time rather than in big clumps. You’re looking at dropping 4.99-7.99$ per character given the pricing schemes of other FGs.

They may do like a “season pass” thing where they let you buy the next 4 characters + maybe a costume each for $19.99 or something like that. If you want everything you’re probably looking at ~$90-$124 for everything individually, not counting cosmetics (Pricing between 49.99-59.99 for base game + 8 additional characters at 4.99-7.99 each.)

would have to agree. I was just saying yesterday to a friend that I don’t feel K.I. is really interesting enough to be staggered out into multiple seasons the way it is. It’s taking too long for an essentially unfinished product to come out. And obviously this is just personal opinion but I don’t think sfv will be so much different.

If it is a small cast (which I’m very relieved by) I hope the bite the bullet and give customizations already. It’s a big enough draw and easy enough dlc cash-in so I can’t see why not. The SF cast looks relatively bland compared to just about everything else and they have way too many cool designs that didn’t make it off the cutting room floor.

Oh I’m stupid, for some reason when I thought about KI’s dlc my mind instantly went to season pass. Still, I hope their inevitable seadon passes are similarly priced to SF4 dlc instead $20-$25.

if 16 is true, hoping at least 6 new characters or at worst 4. Any less than 4 new characters will be a travesty.

Well, I guess PC version would be there even without those countries, since Europe has significant role in PC gaming.

Since there’s cross-platform play between PS4 / PC (and I think it’s GREAT idea), could it be possible that Valve implements Steam support for PS4? Portal 2 for instance allowed PS3 and PC players to play together.

i bet they’re reusing the same core file types, wouldn’t be surprised if the old modding techniques would immediately work. since it’s coming out so ‘quickly’ I can’t see them starting truly from scratch with all the file objects. I dig the higher muscle definition in ryu and chun

Capcom keeps listing Mike and Balrog as separate characters. Has Joe been mentioned anywhere outside the game he debuted in? In the comics or elsewhere?

16 characters means there better not be any clones, that would be just an incredible waste. Assuming at least some of these will be new, the returning characters should be as different as possible from each other.
