Street Fighter V Lounge "We on South Central crack addict status"

It’s a slightly silly request…but can we get more full screen ultras which invalidate zoning? I’m talking about Dudley U1, Ken U2, Balrog U1 and Seth U1. That would be just amazing.

I love the super sound effect from Marvel 2 and 3, too godlike, probably the best in any fighting game.

100% truth. No business does anything for free or in capcoms case for the community. There’s is a monetary purpose behind every move that capcom makes, any insider info you may have D3v, stops at the board room where real decisions are made. As someone who owns their own business along with a normal 9-5 job I can tell you for a fact that whenever I give out stuff for free in a contest, I’m doing it in a way that will be making me money at some point. Just remember that capcom has investors to answer to.

zoning is already so castrated in sf4 between focus attacks, every character having special moves that go through projectiles, and projectiles doing no damage. like Ryu, Sim, and Sagat are the only ones that can try, and they’re all mediocre.

It was sarcasm, you…

With no focus being in and hopefully no BS characters that run all over fireballs (yes Fuerte and Viper) I’m hoping zoning will be strong in this game. I don’t really like the idea of specials not chip on block, but I like the buffs Ryu and Chun got coming into this game.

I hope all dive kicks destroy projectiles. And are invincible until landing. And +5 on block at worst. And everyone gets one.

Bringing entire groups or subgroups of characters like the 4 Shadaloo bosses would be a waste. If they want a sense of completion they can always keep them in the storyline or background. I hope every single SF5 character has a bigger reasoning for his presence than just boasting that the entire X cast is back.

Maybe drugs or fatalities are overkill but Capcom would do fine by not caring for the Adorable Innocent Children for once. Some smoking of tobacco, some blood or harder hitting moves, a grittier atmosphere instead of pure SF4 campiness, etc. I suspect they never pushed Cody or Vega to full playability because they didn’t want characters wielding a knife and claw in the spotlight, which is dumb.

Of course that rumor is fake, Cuz Kuan is not even a Vietnamese name…

I’ll agree that zoning isn’t amazing, but you’re giving less credit than what is reality.

Akuma, Juri, Guile, Rose, Chun, Gouken, and Poison are all really solid zoning characters in addition to the ones you listed. The game just doesn’t allow them to play their game every match the same way the anti zoning characters get to go nuts 24/7

I would like to see less anti fireball fuckery in 5 tho. However I doubt it happens. Already seen Chun’s ultra

Chun’s Ultra and Charlie’s Ultra already confirm what I thought already…Capcom are gonna make even more full screen fireball punishes.

These should be fine, as long as the range is decent (i.e. not truly full screen) and that we don’t see the “Revenge” moves (not calling them Ultras) as often as we see Ultras in IV.

Well there seems to be a difference between Revenge and what we would know of as Ultras. The former requires only the Revenge meter and the “ultra” requires revenge meter AND the full ex meter power up. This alone should reduce the frequency of ultras to less than IV.

Not talking about that. Was talking more about how the revenge bar seems to fill up more slowly than in SFIV.

One of the problems with IV is that Ultra meter fills up quite quickly, meaning we often see multiple Ultra’s popped in a match.

Haven’t read all these posts, but correct me if im wrong… we are getting a “revenge” move + an “ultra” move now? ffs this shit is gonna be utter shit.

The example we’ve seen is Ryu. The revenge meter grants him Shinku Hadouken, but if he powers up (v-trigger/elemental/whatever you want to call it) before, the Shinku Hadouken becomes a Denjin Hadouken. Thus Ryu consumed both his Revenge and his Ex meter to perform this move, which I believe is the equivalent of SF4’s Ultras or SF Alpha’s Level 3 supers.

I like this.

From what we’ve seen, that mechanic may be only for Ryu. Chun seems to get Houyokusen no matter what.

That is what SF4 should have done from the start.

What? SFA-SFA3 looked the same, CvS2 used those same sprites for capcom side with exception to a few. SF2 all interations look the same other than HDR.

I alway felt that Ultra meter should no refill once you used it so it would be a true comeback mechanic. Ultra really is just a shitty nerfed version of K-groove.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t that super launch after the super if it was used while in V-trigger, as opposed to used otherwise? Or am I imagining things from the footage we’ve seen?
Either way, I’d be surprised if Ryu was the only character who gets powered up supers in V-trigger.
