I’m on the neutral stance in that they failed to deliver what they said they would, but it’s understandable why everyone is mad. You pay $60 for that beta access and of course you’re gonna be mad, especially when people just played Amazon and got it for free. So let them vent their frustration, they’re justified in their annoyance.
It was an incentive, of course people purchased it pre-emptively for the beta; why else did they make it part of the pre-order? Marketing. That excuse is not valid for the people who pre-ordered expecting their incentive at the delivered date. And yes we’re getting it at a different date now, but the fact that people booked days off, cleared schedules among other things all for nothing is easily valid reason to be annoyed at this. No idea why people can’t see the validity behind some peoples frustration.
I was one of the scumbag EU’s that got it in an email for free, so I didn’t pay. I just see why people would be angry.
People who cleared days off is on them. Capcom ain’t at fault for that.
Also, anyone who pre-order through Amazon didn’t pay. They won’t charge you for the product until it’s ready to ship. All the smart people pre-order through them.
No I an understand why people are frustrated/angry, but you are still getting exactly what Capcom said you would get - access to the beta and get 3 rounds of it. They didn’t take anything away from you. Instead of it happening last week, it will now in turn happen at another time that we would all be twiddling our thumbs instead.
And yeah, people who took off work for it, that is on them. That has nothing to do with Capcom. I can see why people would be bothered by that though.
It’s obvious that most people who are crying about this and think they deserve something in return aren’t in the real world yet. Because in the real world, shit happens and you deal with it and move on. Crying about things won’t get you anywhere. But with the whole entitlement mentality of the new generations, it’s not surprising about all of the whining.
I was actually going to start doing them for windows phones, however when I looked into it and was trying to get the tools, WIndows 8 was required. And I wasn’t going to upgrade to Win8 on my desktop just for that reason cause I used Win8 once and that was enough. Maybe when Win10 comes out though.
I say the idea is it’s ok to be frustrated, but don’t act like you have no fault in it for investing a ton of time on a beta. Capcom already said up front that we are basically testing the game for them and with the beta only allowing online play, it wasn’t really meant to have a rocking good time finding tech and grinding out matchups. Being limited to only one real way of playing should have given you an indication that you are rolling up into a very incomplete and shaky version of the game.
You ultimately had to make the decision whether you wanted to bank time off on a beta which is never a guaranteed to run perfectly type thing. I spent way more than 60 dollars knowing it may not go perfect and that’s the risk I took. Still find it worth it just for being able to crack out Chun Li early and get a glimpse of what rollback netcode in a mainstream SF game would be like. Even with all of the setbacks in the beta, from the time I got in (which is probably more than what a lot of people did) I say the future is bright.
Between Evo and the beta I probably got more SFV time in than most of the people on the planet. Other than those who went to E3 or Six Flags any way.
I took Friday off from work and I’m no where close to mad, we are still getting the beta, I was going to pre order the game anyway because I love sf. And I’m still going to get beta access eventually, was it a failed attempt this past weekend yes 100% but we are still going to get our beta and I got to play a bit anyway aND got hooked on the game.
Which is really the industries fault. I remember signing up for a beta once years ago and there was a question on “do I have past beta testing experience and with what games”. And I came to the realization that I had taken part in so many weekend demos that I couldn’t remember the last actual beta I had been in.
This SF5 “beta” however was more like a stress test than anything else.
Just curious, does anyone have any leads or ideas as to how the next beta session for SFV is going to be distributed? Like, will people who have the beta client on their PS4s have automatic access? Or do you think / know if we will have to sign up again in one way or another to be given access to the next beta session?
I think Capcom said if you are in the beta that guarantees you access to all phases of the beta. You shouldn’t have to do any extra purchasing or signing up for the extra betas.
Same client, no new codes, you have access. The client will just patch itself if it needs an update, and the characters we’re missing get imported and Capcom get to test out their character distribution system like they did with Cammy/Birdie.(I also think this information needs to be stickied somewhere, it gets asked for a lot)
I would expect something early this coming month, before the 10th? If not then, the situation was a lot worse than I thought.
I got a good feeling the situation is pretty bad if it got that bad that quickly. I won’t be surprised at all if we get into the middle of the month or later before the beta starts again.
