Street Fighter V: Beta Version unofficial Feedback & report thread

That doesnt mean it was good for the other person. Dont be a douchebag, turn that shit off!

If you wanna be technical about it. The beta didn’t fail nor succeed. The beta itself barely happened.
The servers are what failed.

You can’t really say the beta failed when it didn’t even come close to starting it’s main objective. It’s like saying that a mars rover failed it’s mission because the rocket launching it exploded before it could even make it to mars. Unfortunate event that caused the mission to be aborted? Yes. Does that make the rover the failure? Nope. Same thing with the beta.

It failed. Anyone who says other wise is blind or delusional. Ono himself all but said it was a horrendous failure

In the end there’s nothing wrong with it failing. It’s ok for a beta to fail. That’s way better than a full demo or release game not working. We’re going to be playing the game regardless and the beta is essentially in a pause and when they allow us to press play we’ll be back where we were still in the first beta (hopefully much more stable and worldwide).

The beta didn’t work on my PS3. I think its because of the Windows 10 update.

actually it failed for you…not everyone. I had a blast and played many many hours of it

This makes no sense. That’s like saying if Facebook isn’t working on your browser because the servers are hosed, then Facebook isn’t what failed, the servers are.

The client + servers all make up the product.

Well…yeah. Same thing applies to your facebook analogy as well. The facebook service(as in the code) and how it works isn’t tied to the server. The server merely stores the site’s code and any server problems would just prevent you from accessing it. If 10 people are able to still access and post things on facebook then facebook itself is still working even though 2000 other people are stuck getting “unable to connect messages” due to the server having problems. In other words if you put a perfectly fine slice of bread in a toaster and the toaster catches fire, then is it the breads fault? Does that make it shitty bread? Yes the client and the server makes up the entire product but look at it for what was supposed to be tested. Which was the netcode. That was the objective. An objective that couldn’t have even been started on because only a handful of people could actually access it.

Facebook servers don’t just “store code”, they do a lot of processing as well. Sure they store the client code that is served up to your browser (client) which in turn is ran in the browser (the javascript, html, etc), but they also do all of the backend processing and serve up images and a whole bunch of other stuff.

SF5 is different in that you already have the client. The server isn’t serving code for the client to run or anything. The client is merely connecting to the server to do all the backend stuff and get online games going. But all of this is besides the point.

I do agree that overall the beta as a whole was a failure in the sense to us, the customers, because for us it was to merely test the netcode and only a handful of us got to test it, but to Capcom is was a great success because they now know where problem areas lie and what needs to be addressed.

Regardless of Capcom telling us that the beta was strictly to test the netcode, it was intended to obviously test out more than that.

I’m pretty sure if Capcom told us “this beta is to test our server capacity” that people on these forums would still be crying about not being able to play. They wouldn’t be all smiles and cheers just because the rules of the beta changed.

I can see that we actually mostly agree on the same thing but I’m not gonna keep spouting more analogies and keep a pointless argument going all day. One thing’s for sure. That whole weekend was just an unfortunate waste of time for the majority of people that participated.

That is one thing I can agree on as well. Think my X button no longer works on my PS4 pad.

Thats the stupid thing about it. They tell you to press any button but you ended up having to press the X button most of the time only since the X button is the only way to bypass the error messages.

Yeah, there was a lot of stupid about everything.

Like why say error code 21007, then have us go on twitter to see what it means, when they could have just put the “SERVER IS FULL” message in the game instead?

Just one of the many stupid things going on.

But again, it was a beta, and beta’s aren’t ready for production so I can get it. Hell at work I’m working on a new feature right now that is about 95% finished, and it was demo’d yesterday to the customer, and literally THE FIRST THING she asked about was the 5% that wasn’t finished yet lol, even knowing full well that it is about a month away from being complete.

I just put my x button on auto turbo lol and just chilled  when I saw ryu and chun in the training stage I knew I got in lol

In a way the beta failed but not because of the game, just because of the server space that they had in place for the beta.

It has been said that the first beta period will be released again soon with bigger and more stable servers so then hopefully we will get a true taste of the what the beta is really like.

Well no typical circumstances, lol. Just trying to keep myself occupied while testing the press every button feature for SFV at the time.

I was under the impression SFV was peer-to-peer, if he had no lag neither did the other dude.

Yea I’m pretty sure that’s how it works. I know in SF4 people would send me salty messages saying they lost because it was too laggy, but I would always say that lag is bisexual (goes both ways), so if I didn’t feel it neither did they.

after clicking x relentlessy for hours on end. Doeant sount like too much fun. Whats with all the nuthuggers here? Capcom arent gonna give you special treatment because you white knight them.

It’s dumb to be mad at something that’s designed to flush out problems.
