Street Fighter V: Beta Version unofficial Feedback & report thread

Hopefully its not too long until we get to try the beta again. It’d be nice if we got Ken (possibly Necalli too).
I might get a PS4 stick ready for it. I got 20mins on the beta and haven’t used a pad for street fighter for years so it was a bit strange.

Well when you take it into consideration the PC/PS4 beta isn’t actually that far away so there can’t be that big of a gap from now. Just a random guess, but I’d call 2/3 weeks from now we may hear something, hopefully sooner.

loadings on the PS4 is pretty awful from watching the beta, i hope having an SSD will speed it up

It’s hard to call. They did say “indefinite,” so it depends on what they plan to do. You can’t really fix a live server issue while the server is down, so they’ll have to start it back up again and when they do it will probably have similar problems anyway. Their best bet to keep everyone from freaking out is to update the client to be more verbose with errors and less limiting in terms of what the player can do. That way they can get more detailed feedback on the backend and keep the player base somewhat content. But that could take weeks.

And don’t think the PC beta is going to go on as scheduled at this point. Different platform, but they probably thought they would use the same client flow, which may be even worse on PC thanks to all the different specs they have to cover. I don’t think they’ll risk it until they have a good way to keep things stable.

But Fighter Within is still Xbone exclusive!

From Capcom Unity’s thing

“UPDATE: There seems to be concern from some players who were unable to connect to the beta, that they would not be able to get the in-game incentive we mentioned. We are still working out the specifics on the incentive, but can confirm that connecting to, or not being able to connect to the initial beta, will not be a factor in receiving this incentive.”

So no need to worry for those who downloaded the beta but did not get in, we’re all getting something no matter what.
On the topic of downloading the beta though, does anyone have any guesses as to how the next attempt will work? I ask this because those of us in Europe and Asia could not guarantee that we got the beta, we had to sign up and cross our fingers. Are we going to have to do that again for the real first beta test? Or are we safe and sound with the first key we got?
I would be mighty pissed if I had to sign up for another key and for some reason didn’t get one this time around.

Maybe they will send out secondary Codes to people who got the first one?

Maybe, but it wouldn’t be too difficult to retain the current key holders and just have the same client (or maybe an updated one) running. The problems were all on their side so if they fix their problems on their end, we wouldn’t have to do much I guess.

They will probably just patch the client, or have it available on PSN.

Why would the client need to be patched?

Yeah I am not following why anyone thinks we will have to re-download a new client.

The issue was clearly on the server side of things and Capcom has even said so.

Yeah I’m totally eager to get my hands on PC KI!!
But if it comes out in competition of SF5…I’ll be playing SF5…sorry KI.
Anyhoo. I had an observation that I didn’t pay attention too when I had a few matches (probably because I only had 3! but it is 3 more than most had so I’m thankful)

Experience for both player and character are separate, no brainer there just like PP and BP are separate.
However there is a progress bar showing how far you have to go to level up.
It looks like you always gain experience win or lose and next to our Title was a ‘V’ that had a 10 inside it. This was definitely a place holder and correct me if I’m wrong but I’m thinking that number will increase with every level you increase.
Basically what I’m saying this looks just like Killer Instinct’s ranking system.

Now Flame me if you want!!! But I had a thought that I felt would be kinda cool. If you instead of a ‘level cap’, you can ‘prestige’ or start over to re-level up your characters.
Of course there will have to be some Icon/Title that signifies you’ve ‘prestiged’ like Call of Duty does. It would add a little something and show your work put in with a character. This would also show who is a legit player with a character versus someone who is just a grinder.

Prestiging wouldn’t make sense to me in SFV because you aren’t unlocking stuff with your EXP as you progress (that we know of at least). So if you start over you won’t have unlocked items and won’t get bonuses for doing certain things.

In SFV it wouldn’t make any difference whether you maxed out at level 10 but could prestige 10 times or if you maxed out at level 100 without prestiging.

Well Capcom wouldn’t need to call prestige necessarily.
And they could certainly give bonuses for doing so. Fight Money/Costumes/Icons/Titles etc. ,etc.,
They were pretty generic when they said 'get rewarded/unlock things by playing the game’
For all we know there could be a costumes that unlock while leveling up to show off your time put in.
A lot of kids would cry about this “I can’t reach level 50” well you just suck - period.
Games these days spoon feed too much so I’m all for super difficult unlocks like I just mentioned.

Of course it is hypothetical and merely observing something I noticed during Beta. Considering Capcom has been very quiet about the online features and just how ranked/endless/player matches etc,. will work; theory is all I’m left with.

I’m eager to learn more about ranking and match making, but we’ll have to wait till the next big event for reveals.

Any word if we’ll hear move about SF5 during this weekend’s Asia/Shanghai qualifier?
I’m not sure what events are coming up for possible reveals.

I am guessing/hoping it will just use the same game we’ve already downloaded, just with an update patch to apply.

That probably won’t be the case, since everything that went wrong was on their end.

There are gaming conventions they might attend and reveal info at. We already know about Brazil Game Show but there is also Gamescom and the Capcom Cup final itself. So we have somewhat monthly reveals in the coming year.

nycc is probably another event they will do a reveal too

And TGS as well.

I wouldn’t be shocked if they did the IGN first thing later on down the pipeline. That would be later on down the pipeline but could hold a bunch of the left to reveal details of the game.
