Street Fighter V: Beta Version unofficial Feedback & report thread

this attempt doesn’t count as one out of the three. This is effectively your extended period. Even if it only lasted 10 minutes in training mode.

The beta has been a failure up to this point no matter how some may try to slice it. They can’t even have a message in the client that informs us about these things. Instead you have to head over to Capcom Unity or track the ongoings via Twitter. Oh, i forgot, everyone in the world owns a Twitter account. Smh

I can’t imagine the amount of people who have preordered, but will never get a chance to play. Oh well, on with real life again.

This is secretly a good thing, since hopefully when it returns we will no longer have to waste our days to even attempt to log in.

I’m fine with this. After Thursday night a 5 tries then give up for a few hours rule was enacted. Got quite a few sessions in on Saturday, one lasting just over 2 hours, so it’s hard to complain if they’re taking a mulligan on this one.

The fuck are you talking about? There’s complacency, ingratitude and expectancy, if they’re going to announce a beta you expect to play it at the announced date. They haven’t fulfilled that for players and people want comeuppance for the days lost. And considering a majority didn’t play for the the initial attempt, this hasn’t filled that role. It would be ingratitude if they released it and I went around saying it was utterly shit and I wish they hadn’t of had a beta, this is just acknowledging they fucked up and wasted my time on something defunct.

Good and bad … Good there not counting this as of the 3 beta test.Bad that it turned out pretty bad.
Does this mean we getting another set of beta keys or this one would count for the rest of the beta test??

They said you only need one beta to take part in all of them, so I wouldn’t assume you’ll need a new key unless the client itself breaks and is unfixable and requires a clean install.

I doubt it, the retailers were barely able to handle this release. The dl should work for the next one, maybe with a large patch pushed to update it. no reason to send new keys.

the good : they get to work on and fix the game (which is good for everyone)
the bad : i didn’t really get to play it (i’ll survive , i guess)

How is this beta failed? It did exactly what was meant to do and more. Allowed testing of the netcode in the real world AND catch these problems way ahead of release. This is a good thing that happened.

It failed because

A. It was a disaster and didnt work.

B. People have lost even more confidence in capcom and r possibly cancelling there pre-orders.

And C. The fact that they had to straight out cancel it. They may have gotten data but it definately wasnt as much they were hoping 4.

Personally I didnt cancel my pre-order and I got quite a bit of time 2 play. I think the game is gonna turn out 2 be really fun as others who got 2 play did. But lets not act like this Beta attempt wasnt anything short of a disaster that failed

You said it man, even the twitter account wasn’t updating but relying on the capcom unity blog posts; which were already hard to access because the site kept crashing for everyone.

“a successful test is one that finds a bug” is actually the approach taken in software development.

Capcom ran into some unexpected problems, and that’s alright, shit happens, and honestly, they are handling this in the absolute best way possible.

It’s Capcom, they could have easily fucked everybody and counted those days towards the beta, but they aren’t, and they are giving bonus incentives for the inconvenience.

Not exactly sure what else you could ask of them. It’s not like they expected any of this, I’m not going to sit here and bitch and moan over an honest mistake.

This beta failing had a nice upside of giving you way more time to do training mode than if the servers were working great. If the servers were working as normal itd be tough to get any real training mode in.

Not salty about it at all. Gives me time to find a way to buy another Xbone and decide if I want to keep the PS4 or just wait for the pc beta and trade it in. Would be nice to just have all the platforms though so we’ll see.

A free beta 9 months before release didn’t go smooth as butter and people are shocked? Come on that is why they have these things.

Sure it sucks ass for us, but it’s a good thing.

It’s like when a game gets delayed. That is also a good thing, but it sucks we get it later than expected. But had they just released it half assed with bugs, it could ruin the game. Look at Drive Club. They failed so hard at launch and they never really recovered from it. I’m sure that cost them A LOT of money.

So this beta not going smoothly is okay. It means Capcom simply was not ready for the traffic, and they found it 9 months prior to launch instead of launch night. Imagine if this crap happened next March on launch night. Imagine the backlash at that point. It would be 100000x worse than this.

Hell even the sound glitches in SFxT were attrocious at launch. The crappy sound glitch and spotty netcode is THE reason I stopped playing it. I don’t even care that they fixed it down the road. By that time I was onto other stuff and back onto SF4.

So again, while it sucks we can’t get our hands on this game as early as we hoped and the short term blows, in the long run this is a good thing.

EDIT:

And those who think that they could just “fix” this issue overnight, you clearly are ignorant of how large scale software development works. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it’s just not quite as simple as you think.

So do you guys think that the “next” first beta will be a completely updated build with Ken and Necalli in it? Or are they planning to use the E3 build still?

Also wondering if they’re gonna include Birdie and Cammy from day one or test the content delivery once again, if the beta goes over smoothly of course

It’s ungrateful because you are getting more than you originally signed up for, and still sounds like you’re unhappy about it because it didn’t fall on the dates you expected. I should be as mad as anyone, I took a vacation from work around these dates (usually do around this time of year anyway), had friends over on the 23rd who were all treated to a night of error messages and 5 minutes in training mode, spent every possible minute all 3 days trying to log in with limited results (fortunately still more than most I gather) and now it gets postponed. But like metric said, shit happens and they are making it up to me and everyone else whose dream hasn’t died.

I don’t know how you can honestly that when Combo’s post said they expected fuck-ups. Not of this level but the beta did it’s job. I see the cancellation as Capcom needing to rework their online and the fact it happened this early is a good thing. I don’t want this game to be fucked on launch like Driveclub.

Even if they have to give out new codes, now they should just be able to redistribute new codes to anyone who already has access through PSN.
