None of can be mad though. This is beta! I rather have these issues now rather when the game launches.
Truth be told we can’t be mad at Capcom.
They were attempting something they had never attempted before. They were bold in making this beta available and wanting the community to have an opportunity to play outside of special events like E3 and SDCC.
This game is their life’s work and no one wanted this beta to work more than the people who put it together.
Yes it is a downer, but isn’t anything to groan like children over.
I had every intention of sitting all weekend and playing the beta, but am I throwing a fit? Not at all and either should you all.
Capcom will make this right and the final product will reflect that effort.
Bless them all and peace be with the FGC
Spoiler
They will still exist when it launches
and the people who tried to play PC MKX on launch day…
Although I did expect something remotely playable for a beta, at least it’s just a beta rather than a full priced release. Oh well, I can’t complain. I got the beta for free.
Edit: gave it away
I got to play it for a good little while before getting kicked again, really like how the game feels, hopefully the delay won’t be too much
I don’t understand how they drop SFIV to millions and it works day one. I played all night. But this beta completely caved in on itself. Hype destroyed. I hope they get it together. Get Sony’s help, they’ve done one of these before.
Yeah to be honest, as someone else mentioned, while this is a blower that it is having these issues, this is EXACTLY what betas are for. It’s better than having this crap happen on launch day. Look at MCC on X1 or Drive Club on PS4. Those suffered big time because they weren’t ready at launch. It’s much better this happens a year out in the first beta than down the line.
So no qualms here. I’m actually happy since I’m on vacation until tomorrow (or very late tonight) anyways so I was going to miss out on 2 days anyways lol.
What I would love to hear about though is for those of you who got to play against a live opponent, how was the netcode? How does it compare to Killer Instinct (for those of you who have played both)?
Yeah Im not mad, just disappointed really. I was so hyped especially bc they changed the characters in SFV enough that they all look fun (even Bison who I’ve never liked) to the point that I decided I wanted to play Chun despite not liking charge characters. I was studying videos with her, bought purbeast’s app, added in combos to test, etc.
I was chilling with DevilJin in his stream last night and we both agreed (before 9PM PST) it wouldn’t be nearly as bad if there were some sort of offline component. You know, instead of people constantly having to sit there and hope while mashing X. They definitely don’t owe us anything, but it would have been cool to allow people like 10m or so of offline training before they took it down completely just as thanks.
SFV is far from being finished. It’s not the same network, netcode etc. the beta is here to test and well… We’ve just tested that it doesn’t work. Now you can be sure it won’t be like that on the release date ! (I hope)
Who ever is the network engineer for the servers in SF5 is probably working for Microsoft. Lmfao just kidding but his ass will definitely get in trouble maybe even fired
On this level? I dont think so.
Just seen the news, wow! Hopefully they may give us key when it re opens…they wont but it would be nice
I would expect the servers to explode on launch day.
Has nothing to do with this issue.
That’s just a problem with games/players and the cost of servers and maintenance. After the first week the amount of traffic will decrease dramatically and they want to avoid having anything under utilized. So it’s common to undershoot and then try to bolster things as needed.
I forget which game it was I played but one of the network engineers explained the issue like half a year after launch. It’s an industry wide issue and makes it challenging to have a great launch day/week experience because the numbers are so dramatically different than they will be in two weeks, a month, etc.
That doesn’t mean Capcom doesn’t have a solution or anything. Just that it would not be odd if they had issues.
This is a Beta so I kno that this kind of this is gd at this stage so it doesnt happen at launch (who knows its still might knowing Capcom). But lets be real here most people who joined this Beta just wanted a chance 2 play the game a little bit and lets not act like Capcom didnt kno this. With how things have been lately with them (the terrible release of USF4 on PS4) they just started to convince me that the company was getting better with how they were handling this game in general but they just reminded me that Capcom will always be Capcom and mess things up. I not mad about it just disappointed, I was back on the SF train but now im back to thinking Capcom is still the same
Nah, not mad. What I would like is a longer beta period now though, both as a little icing on the cake for players who waited up just to see if they could play and to test their netcode and the stability of their servers thoroughly, because obviously we blew all of their current servers up last night/this morning.
That is what happens if you don’t include Adon in this game
Some of you guys need to realize this isnt a demo. This is beta. Learn what Beta means.
