I actually think this is the Capcom’s plan. It wouldn’t certainly be a bad idea to continue doing stress tests in different regions of the world to make sure that they don’t fuck up worldwide launch of Street Fighter V in March, since I’m sure there’ll be changes to the netcode as the development goes on
Stress tests aren’t about the netcode though, they’re about testing functionality and capacity under extreme conditions. The beta period is when the real netcode/matchmaking evaluation starts.
FWIW, the netcode feels much better for me than the USFIV netcode does. This may partially be on account of the 3 frame buffer, but the characters movement just feels better to me than it does in USFIV. The one tangible thing I can point at is that I am having much better luck anti-airing in the Beta than I do in USFIV. That’s a reaction thing, which makes me think the game is actually more responsive for me.
Also possible that the movement also feels more like I remember SFII movement feeling like, and that is the game I spent so much time with as a kid. Hard to say.
Can’t stand Ryu in USFIV, but loving him in the Beta. Hells if I know why.
Fun fact. In training mode, dick around with bison’s kick moves and churn the butter on that stick. Like, just go nuts wobbling from side to side, jumping and just doing a bunch of crap nonstop. After not too long, the real time physics on bison’s skirt should get all fucky and start doing some very weird clipping. It’s not even hard to do, I was doing it pretty consistantly.
He has bad matchups like any character but he has a lot of options and easy combos that do tons of damage not too mention one of the best cross ups in the game so far.
