Had a decent amount of matches this morning. Surprised at how good it feels, especially since I’m playing this from across the Pacific. Yeah, some matches do turn into rollback fests depending on the connection, but that’s expected since it’s rollback code. No underwater slowdown here.
Eh compared to the last beta when I got to play for a few hours the connection was dog shit about 50% of the time. Literally unable to see half the match. One time it showed I stunned a guy and he got the little bird things and sound started playing so just supered when he stood up for the win and he BLOCKED, turned out it rolled back and he wasn’t stunned but he kept the birds and the stun sound effect kept playing the rest of the match. Saw some cool stuff, but this was not acceptable for a final version of the netcode. Reminded me of the old GGPO 3rd strike days where the netcode would literally break the game for a round and you couldn’t see the screen because of black bars or you would kill a guy and get KO but than they would stay alive and you’d have to finish the round with the KO letters staying on the screen. Could have dealt with all that but people going from being grounded to 3/4th’s through their jump was a little more than annoying.
I was guessing it’s down bc it legit told me “You are unable to play the Street Fighter V Beta.”
Funny how last time I got to be a training mode monster and wanted matches, now I only was getting like a minute of training before another fight and wished I had more time to practice. I have to remember Chun’s godlike normals instead of going back to my main fireball strategy from playing USF4.
I know it’s not a bug or glitch but they should just reset the players back to the original side they began the match in. Flip flopping in mirror matches is hard to keep track who you are even when you aren’t in a mirror that blue and red player one and player two side thing doesn’t clearly show the side your on at a glance. Tack on looking down at the bottom of the screen for meter and it’s kinda jumbled visually if you are switching sides between rounds keeping track of your health and meter, it’s very confusing. Matches are fast as well so that adds to confusion as well… so just reset it like the old way…
The gameplay in SFV feels rly good so far.
I have spent quite some time with every character
into the lab, but mainly with Nash in training mode.
Yesterday Birdie and Cammy were also available
but they are gone today after another login.
The visuals are pretty cool I think.
So far I have played about 50+ games - 47 games
vs US and players from Canada and only 2 players
from Europe. All the match footage on this
highlight reel was live recorded. Most of ppl
online don’t know the block strings, punishes,
frame data etc yet including myself, but there
were quite some good players online who got
some solid fundamentals of SFV already - AA me
everytime, punished my unsafe moves ( such as f.HP )
and knew quite some cool setups and combos.
Compiled a short highlight reel today.
Anyways, more SFV footage is coming soon as long as
I can login again.
Until then GGs, thanks for playing, thanks for watching and
see you in SFV.
Did you guys notice that you can press the Share button while playing the game? Usually it wouldn’t do anything if a game has it blocked, but apparently you can record footage and make screenshots during the matches
