I recently bought the SF IV Fight Stick Tournament Edition by Mad Catz, for the XBOX 360. I did this because everywhere I read, people were having no problem installing the stick in a PC and playing. I however was not so lucky.
I got a ‘USB Device is Not Recognized’ error from Windows vista(32bit) when I plugged it in at first. No problem. I looked around, found some XBDC drivers that people highly recommended. I downloaded it, installed it, and used a workaround where I had to copy over the .sys/.inf files to make it workable for 32bit Vista.
Restarted. No luck, the stick is still not recognized by windows and I even tried to download an official microsoft xbox accessory driver for controllers, which didn’t appear to do anything. In device manager, the stick has always appeared as ‘Unknown Device’. In all the tutorials I read, it is supposed to show up as ‘XBOX 360 Controller’. It appears vista simply won’t recognize the device at all. I even tried plugging the stick into my 32bit XP machine, and no luck there either. Neither of my machines will recognize the device at all, yet hundreds of people appear to be using this model to play on the PC. Could it be something to do with my USB ports?
Summary:
Street Fighter IV Fight Stick Tournament Edition (for XBOX 360) doesn’t work on my PC.
Tried installing XBDC newest version. Tried doing the patch to make it work for vista 32bit.
Tried installing official microsoft xbox accessory drivers.
The TE stick appears as ‘Unknown Device’ in device manager.
Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. thanks for your time.
no I don’t have an xbox atm, the TE stick is only manufactured for the PS3 and XBOX 360, however both work in a PC (or so they claim). The USB cable does not appear to be damaged in any way, I literally just got it fresh out of the box and it appears to be in mint condition.
That is odd. When I plugged it in it literally worked right off the bat. Have you maybe tried going into the Street Fighter 4 controller settings? I’ve seen it on the autorun window.
No use there, it’s literally like my computer doesn’t know the stick exists, it lights up for about a second and then windows says ‘USB Device is Not Recognized’, then the light turns off. None of the buttons work, except if I try to turn it back on, which will give me the ‘USB Device is Not Recognized’ error again before shutting off. Don’t have any idea what the problem could be really.
The only place it shows up on my computer is in Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus controllers as ‘Unknown Device’.
There are microsoft drivers you may need to install. When i plugged in mine to Windows 7, it automatically downloaded a driver for it to work. Also try a different USB port. Are you plugging right into the computer or a hub?
plugging it right into the computer, not using a hub. Have tried using every single usb port on my rig, even gone as far as to unplug everything else. Have tried downloading every known driver relating to xbox 360 controllers, would be happy to uninstall them and try again if anyone has suggestions.
I have tried it in one other computer which is running windows XP SP2 32bit, and the same thing happened. ‘usb device is not recognized’, and then displays as ‘Unknown Device’
I am probably just going to send it back for a refund. Has anyone else got this stick to work with vista 32bit?
I am having the same issue with my TE (1st gen Round 1) not being recognized by Windows 7 & XP 32-bit, Asus Striker Extreme mainboard with Nvidia Southbridge Chipset.
I can’t really remember if it USED to work in my PC, I generally play on consoles and I bought the stick during the second batch of TE’s were being shipped at time of release.
It functions normally on X360 too.
However my SSF4 TE ‘S’ (Black) installs seamlessly without problems in the same PC…weird (updated PCB by Madcatz???)
If anyone knows about this speak up please, thanks!
EDIT: I have the 1st gen Akuma Fightpad and it installed seamlessly too, it shows as ‘Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class’ - ‘Xbox 360 Controller for Windows’
Well, digging up an old topic…
x360 te second round. Works fine on xbox but on pc w/ Windows 7 64 bits appears as an “unknown device”. It has already work in this very same system with the same windows. The only difference was a format and a ssd… Can’t seem to find nothing remotely helpful online…
Same problem here except that it was working until I was in the middle of a match. It made the disconnect sound and now it won’t work anymore. However, I have no problem on my 360. It’s like Windows just decided that it didn’t want it anymore.
Edit: Okay, so this is weird. I tried it on my roommate’s computer and it worked fine, then I go back and plug it into my computer and it installs just like it’s supposed to. Now I pull it out again and it’s unrecognized when I put it back in.
