By the way, I’m likely meeting friends for beers later Saturday night in the Wudaokou area, if anyone wants to come along for that too.
4 people have contacted me saying they’re going, so tomorrow should be hype.
I probably won’t be there until 12:30, as I’m meeting people at the wudaokou subway station at noon.
Give a call if you need directions or want to meet up to go together.

GGs today, it was great to have a chance to play and meet fellow SRK’ers. Sorry about the abrupt departure, the gf attempted to put me in panic mode for no reason.
It was great to play some good comp in SF and get butt stomped in BR. Good times.
I’ll post the other arcades I know of once I get all the name and locations together. One nice thing I saw tonight (after i left) is another arcade that has BR and SF4, and it doesn’t look too crowed (and the XiDan tokens worked there)
- we got someone from Holland, WAR UBEREEM
It’s allgood, we left right after. Jimi wanted to get back to the west side of town for dinner and what not.
GGs everyone, thanks for coming out. I have a class thing next weekend, but I want to try to get everyone to come out to Shuangjing on Saturday the 7th. They should have a team tourney that weekend too.
hi all
im currently staying in suzhou for a month, wondering if there are any arcades in shanghai / suzhou with SF4 machines…
kinda alien to this place and i dont even know how to ask wheres the arcade in mandarin LOL
any clue?
Shanghai definitely has SF4 arcade, though I’m not sure where. I hear there is a decent spot with like 6 linked cabs. Pensuke might know, he’s living in Hangzhou. You might also check in the HK thread; maybe someone knows what’s up.
Arcade is ??? (jie1ji1) in mandarin. Street Fighter 4 is usually called ??? (jie1ba4 si4) in the mainland. You could probably ask something like ???
Also, here is that Chinese made stick we were talking about over dinner, Han.
I went to Suzhou on a weekend trip in August and I actually did find an arcade somehow. You can use Google Maps to find the exact location. I posted this in the Central China/Wuhan thread:
About Shanghai, I did go there last weekend and checked out their “main” arcade, ??. It is famous enough that the guy who I talked to in Suzhou had heard of it. You can check out the Shanghai thread about it. I was actually somewhat disappointed by it. In terms of general arcadeness, Zhengyang isn’t a very large, clean, nice arcade like a lot of arcades in China. It’s relatively small, dark, has people smoking, and in a random, sketchy street in Shanghai, not a huge crowded city street or in a mall like you would expect. However, half the arcade literally is fighters and does have at least three SF4 head-to-head setups and an ST setup with lots of people playing. It’s definitely a place for the hardcore, not a place to bring friends like I did. The only way I knew it was the place was because of a huge poster there that is the same as the one on their website: http://bbs.17utt.com I didn’t get to play so I don’t know how the competition is, but it seems definitely like an arcade rats’ den.
If anyone else happens to care, I traveled to Shenzhen and found like two arcades, at least one with one SF4 setup, but I didn’t really check them out enough to be worth mentioning here.
By the way, Jason, I thought ?? literally was just fighting game machine. I’ve looked around on some Chinese forums and found that it only referred to fighters. I still haven’t found the exact word for “arcade” in a way that everyone who aren’t arcade rats will understand. :xeye: Also, you should get on MSN or QQ more often. One or the other. I talked to Brandon recently and he asked me when I’m coming back to Beijing. I wish I could invade Beijing again now that there are so many SRKers, but unfortunately, I don’t have that much time. Maybe some day though.
Astrohan, if you ever travel to Hangzhou, let me know and I’ll show you around. :smokin:
Its a shame I missed this time, I’ll be up for next weekend if I have money and certainly for the 7 th when all you guys are going…
Also BR … is what? Bakumatsu Roman ?
Thanks for the great replies everyone! Makes me look forward to explore this city in the next 3 weeks to come ^^
Hangzhou is about 3hours from here, but I doubt I will be heading back there anytime this week as I was just there visiting some of the tourist attractions just 2 days ago. I’m here on a school trip, so curfews and time table kinda owns me. Only got Friday and Saturday as a free day for us to travel around on our own etc.
If I do head down to Hangzhou again I’ll definitely let you know Pensuke ^^
Meanwhile, is there anyone in Suzhou or Shanghai that would like to meet up for some SF4 games? ^^ I will be at Shanghai this coming Saturday. However I will have to head back to Suzhou by the end of the day (Somewhere around 8pm or so I’m guessing)
I’m still an amateur at this game, so if anyone needs some practice targets in China let me know
I’m not very good at chinese, but I call the arcade dianzi youxi ting.
I’m pretty sure the Beijingers use ?? interchangeably for arcade and arcade game. I had a long “who’s on first-esque” exchange with a local to that effect, heh. But I guess that could have led to my confusion.
You can probably use ??? (dian4 wan2 ting1) then too. Dian4wan2 is the short way of saying video game.
Note for Beijingers: You should not “er” the wan in dian wan. Only “er” it as a verb. IE: ??? is cool, ??? is not.
Hi all!
Had just dropped by ??? at ???, I am pretty impressed at the condition of the machine there, was expecting much worse
The only complain I have would be that there’s only 2 machines, only 1 match at a time. Saw quite alot of players there, I tried to talk to them but they don’t seem too friendly
I guess my mandarin is really too lousy to communicate with them :xeye:
Will anyone be in Suzhou area?
ugh @ Beijing accent – like its not hard enough already to learn
^^ Not to mention that ?? is pretty ugly sounding
???
???
BTW, you’ll hear a lot of erhua at the arcades. Many of the Beijing SF players call Shuangjing "???
So I’m looking at April to come to Beijing for a little vacation. I’ll randomly pop in here from time to time to practice written ?? until then, if that’s cool.
Still a ways off, but hopefully some of you guys will still be there when I get there.
Starcade: Thanks for the invite but NEXT TIME.
wow jason…a year and a half of living in china(i think) and you’re already giving people lessons on their chinese…
you are gdlk.
?? :china:
lol… ppl typing chinese here and I can’t even read any of them, except zhong wen :p. Yeah I’m looking towards for Shuangjing. And Jason this time we’re gonna play much more right! Have to get used to the arcade sticks, but I like it!
Carlos! What’s good?
After a year of living here, you’d be giving lessons too.
