Went up to Xizhimen to other day for my Bemani fix and was chatting with the guy that runs the tourneys. Apparently the localized Chinese cab for AE goes on sale this month and Xizhimen may get it, he says his boss is interested but wants to see prices first. Fingers crossed!

Question to all gmail users, have you been able to access your accounts today without a vpn? Just got into the office, tried to check my mail and the page keeps getting timed out. I turn on my vpn, try it again and it opens just fine. :?
Update: Nevermind. Gmail opened with FireFox. Chrome fail FTW. Kinda ironic.

I just got back from the doctor. It seems I have rather acute sinusitis. Go figure.
Regrettably, this means no planes for me for a while, so Shanghai is out for me. 
Wouldn’t worry about it; at this rate our level of organisation has been a tad slow, and some people are having availability issues with the date, so we’ll probably push it back to give people a chance or we’ll just do something else which doesn’t require travelling to another city!
If anyone figures out a way to disable this godawful adbar, let me know.

Been using Chrome with Adblock forever now. Still get the ad. 
Maybe a setting change or list subscription you are using?
Update: Ok you were right 4neqs. Just had to click the adblock button -> Block an Ad on this page then followed the procedure it gave me. Will probably be the same for Firefox+Adblock. Thanks!

Turns out I had the wrong ad block software dl’ed for Firefox. Problem solved! That was an annoying day.

Internet has been screwy as fuck today. Seriously hope this isn’t gonna last long. As for the VPN, Witopia’s current solution seems to be working out just fine. This shit is starting to get out of hand. On one hand I don’t see them blocking VPN’s permanently because a lot of businesses use them. On the other, this is China and all is possible. We’ll see… In other news, our lease is ending in May so we called the landlord to talk about renewing it cause, you know, we like it here and stuff. The old hag wants to increase the rent by 500 RMB and says non-negotiable. Really? It seems the market has gone up but still 500 is way too much. Second phone call went a lot better but she wants to revisit this in April. Today sucks so bad…
Yeah, ever since the internet went ass, everything has varied from barely usable to unusable without a VPN. Even when you do manage to get online with PSN, there’s so few lobbies because the entire country’s infrastructure is getting raped in the ass. I set one up through DreamHost for web browsing that seems to work reasonably well (youtube buffer on 240p is pretty decent for chinese speeds, etc.) so anyone that doesn’t have Witopia or whatever can contact me for a hookup if you need. You can probably make it work with any program you want but that involves some experience with the likes of FreeCap and such, which I haven’t really bothered with.
As for the rent thing, sucks to hear that Yannis, but it sounds par on course with everyone I’ve been keeping in touch here. Most folks sounds like their rent is getting a kick up. Beijing’s gettin’ real expensive~
Seems to be the case. We spoke to a couple of agencies and they don’t have anything below 3800. We’ll see though. It’s our fault for not making a longer contract. Hopefully she’ll accept our 3600 offer. We don’t have money issues. I just find the 500 rmb excessive.
