just wanted to throw this out too - destructible environments? I mean SF2 had barrels and crates for crying out loud. Yes SF4 has some interaction with the BG, but eh.
with all the 2d sprite games out and coming out 2d is certainly not dead!
leave 3d to games like Killer Instinct, which looks disgustingly sick.

You guys ripping on the animations, I think he did it to just show what it might look like in motion, as a quick and dirty. It’s obvious he didn’t draw each frame of animation, or any frames other than the original key frame. It would take weeks to do in the style he chose for the final image. I doubt he’d spend that much time to show a “what if,” it’s simply too much work.
Remember, it’s just a what if, nothing more. Use your imaginations for the rest, jeez.
The sprites look great for non-game use. I just hate the idea of an HD remix. It reminds me of how much I despise the look of the sprites in SSF2T HD Remix. Let’s keep the giant pixels where they belong. It’s how it was meant to be.
HD Remixes could be good, if done right. ST was not done right.
Come on Moonchilde, nobody’s ripping on steamboys animations. Just expressing that we dislike that kind of animation in general. It’s the common style of internet animation because it’s quick and easy. Fine, use it for quick jobs but it doesn’t look nearly as good as properly animated frames. Game done like that would look whack.

If no tweening was done and every frame was hand drawn in HD like this, I’m happy.
the flow of clothes, movement of shading appearing and distorting, etc… is lost in this type of animation. it’s nice for what it is but honestly i hope if there ever was to be an HD remake, they would use traditional methods and not rigging art assets that are pre-painted.

Something like an attack would require a bunch of other unique keyframes. Is that all you’re trying to say?
That is assumed, you can’t just stretch Ken’s leg and make it look anything like a kick. Or you can try and have it look like the rumble fish.
I was referring to ONLY these examples here which look like individual pieces pasted together and wiggled around. That method (Rumble Fish) looks like shit.
To do a proper HD redraw would be a massive undertaking and it will likely never happen for 3S due to the number of frames per animation. ST HD Remix was some huge thing due to the redraw and that game has nowhere near the amount of frames of animation as 3S.
You might be hung up on tweening as in the method of calculating between frames popularized by flash, and actual between frames which are still hand drawn, they just don’t represent important moments in a sequence. They’re the fluff which makes it look right. I’m talking about tweening (calculated, automatic).

I think an hd version of the game would be too distracting. As if Ryu, or even Daigo to pull it out a bit further, would stop mid fight to comment on how you can see the hashing on chun li’s leggings.
