Yeah…Guile and Dictator are stupid good in CE. Dictator has the corner trap from hell that can turn into a psuedo-infinite. Guile is just dumb, period. It would still be a fun game to have a fuck-around tournament on though. :slight_smile:

There are a lot of awesome people in the Bay Area who invite complete strangers to their home, to use their equipment, and don’t expect the SF scene to buy them a 360. They’re not even that much these days; a used one on eBay can be had for like $140. And their equipment is probably nicer than your CE cabinet. Can’t you play CE in one of those multicade cabs they have at like every dingy bar ever? Or in your browser?

Maybe you should get a job (sup work study).

it’s bloody hard enough to get people to drop $5 at established 5-10 console/cab gatherings with 30+ dudes at large townhouses/warehouse lofts where most the people already know each other and provide freeloader snacks and food/booze… so getting a bunch of dudes to drop $4 in a campus apartment with pizza and one cab is going to be like pulling a wisdom-tooth with dental floss fetched from a slimy sink drain…

We also have a lot of people that don’t have much tact. It’s her house she can damn well charge whatever the hell she wants and you have every right to just not show up. I know of at least one spot that charged a weekly fee so the equipment could both be maintained and new systems could be brought in. No one in their right mind would bitch about it either. Nice touch with dissing the host’s equipment btw. DATZFOREALTALKYO!

Well that’s not exactly true. The BEARcade got to keep the money all you beautiful people slammed into the machines themselves.

I agree with people who are saying the Leelo can do whatever she pleases since it’s her own event. It just happens to be more entrepreneurial than most gatherings of late that’s pissing people off.

If you want to keep it old school, find a price/arrangement to charge for the pizza, have entry fees go directly to the pot, and make the machine pay-to-play. But considering you managed to find a niche market with CE and have a reasonable entry fee, your current rules will probably hold up after all. Good luck with the tournament!

BTW: it’s always worth it to me to drop a tad bit of cash on playing on an old school cab, it’s not like they’re all over like in the early 90s. Respect to anyone who has the equipment and maintains that shit.

Still looking forward to the tourney and pizzzza! I played some CE with Chrisis today and he pulverized me. Bison is nuts! Fuuuuck. Seems like I might be able to get somewhere with Blanka though with a little practice. Also Ken’s fierce SRK is beastly.

For your blanka you need that jump roundhouse crouch forwardx2, it does damage, and although Bison is great, unless I’m sure I’m not playing against Dhalsim, Guile, or Zangief I won’t play as him in a tourney, too easy for throw loops to kill you. >.<

Well hopefully the tourney is at least best 2/3 matches so you can adjust character wise if necessary.

And for all those who ARE interested and have already called to reserve a spot - the tournament is on for this Saturday (July 25th at 9 pm). If you’d like to get familiar with the machine or get some practice in, you can stop by Friday
(July 24th) from 9-10 pm. If I have your contact information I will call you this week to give you my address.:party:

Note: the tourney will be at night because there is too much glare in broad daylight since the machine is outside.
