The CEO of Ultracade Technologies, maker of the Ultracade Multi-Game System has asked me to get some feedback about how you Street Fighter
players like to have your arcade control panels configured.
Do you guys like angled controls where the controls are turned 20 degrees
for more elbow room?
Do you guys like the 6 buttons straight across like the original Street Fighter II Champion Edition or like the Japanese Style cabinets with the medium buttons raised?
What type of Joystickdo you player like using on 6-Button Street Fighter
games? Happ 8 way microswitch joysticks? or Perfect 360 Optical Joysticks?
In the near future we are coming out with an awesome collection of 8 original licensed Street Fighter collection of games for the arcade.
I’d like to hear some feedback comments about the control preference of
of choice. Any feedback would be great.
Here is the list:
Street Fighter
Street Fighter II
Street Fighter Champion Edition
Street Fighter II Turno Hyper Fighting
Super Street Fighter II - The New Challengers
Super Street Fighter II - Grand Master Challenge
Street Fighter Alpha
Street Figher Alpha 3
i have a friend here in jersey who ll start looking for a cabinet once he gets back from his trip, i know for a fact if the price is right he d be willing to purchase a 3rd strike machine or multi system cabinet
when is your friend coming back home ? I am thinking about getting rid of my custom build cabinet if the price is right and we I am in NYC so your friend will probly be able to pick it up.It will be on ebay real soon(cuz I wanna bulid a bigger one with a 33" monitor:rofl:).PM or email for more info on the cabinet. customjoystick@yahoo.com
uh cuz ultracade is an emulator, and 3s isnt emulated except for the shitty dc version, which isnt good enough. another request, solid emulation would be nice. i just remember playing hf on the old ultracade and some stages the game was way too fast, some stages got super choppy, like rogs stage, and such. i hope this wont be a problem in the future
Dude, not to get on your case, but angled sucks. I’ve played on many an angled cab, and these problems always occur:
Accidental forward or backward jumps, accidental low blocks, moves not coming out due to the gayness of not having the machine set up like over 87% of all fighters in america.
And what’s the logic behind raising the mid buttons? They’re easier to hit without LOOKING for them if they’re in a row. I’ve accidentally hit Forward instead of Strong in matches due to this non-standard setup.
The only times ANYONE I know has ever had problems on a cab where the sticks and buttons worked fine was when the arcade operator got cute and gave us a good game in an oddball cab like the one you’re asking for. Again, not busting your chops, but I’ve been playing arcade since SF1, and I’m speaking from experience. Regular cabs are easier for everyone to enjoy, while the angled, raised buttons are more of a personal preference for less than a handful of people in a crowd, and they have no problem with regular, whereas everyone else WOULD have problems playing on THEIR preferred setup.
Yeah i know what ya mean, I’m down wit the straight buttons but for some reason i can react to shit faster with an angled button layout (just the Mid buttons.)
japanese angled button setup are more ergonomic and natural to your hand structure. but of course, US always has to be on a different standard as always heh. as for angled controls, that would be horrible, those are always disasterous
angled layout makes me want to be in the same angle as the buttons are layed so they seems striaght across to my right hand. Then that messes with my joystick motions and 1/2 the time im not blocking up when I think I am and accidental forward jumps, etc. Basicly it totally messes with my head because im not used to it. But for some reason I cant seem to untrain myself to use the angled joints. maybe I should qualify my opinion by stating I am somewhat of a scrub.
Question: do you people have custombuilt cabs for personal use or do you own arcades? I dont think I would ever be interested in buying a cab for personal use. But maybe I should qualify my opinion by stating that I have a bad back.
No angle. Straight up side by side. Or even better, step up and be the first to make a american versus cabinet.
US style 6 buttons straight across, only because I believe you guys don’t know how to make Japanese style (we have a ultracade with only the middle buttons raised, which doesn’t look good), and of course, the fact that america has been playing this style since the beginning. EDIT: I’d also like to mention convex buttons, but you can always the arcade owner if you’re serious about buttons.
why does everyone like 360s? Am I the only one that prefers 8ways to 360s? I’d say 8ways with convex buttons. Then again those can be replaced, so the only real concern is good emulation.
I like switch sticks more than 360s, but that’s probably because I have to pay for and replace a 360 if it breaks, which hurts more than a broken switch stick.
I hear hardcore charge-character players prefer switch sticks too.
I actually prefer the Happ Comp stick when it comes to American sticks, but I can work on P360’s just about as well and more people prefer them, so I just say that when it comes to this kinda thing. lol
