Street Fighter II #3 is out now( Spoiler & Discussion)

I enjoyed the Dhalsim vs Ryu battle most. Each panel featured such an accurate portrayal of moves found in the game, that one could duplicate that sequence while playing SF. Majestros’ little contest a while back was based on this.

Keep up the good work. Hopefully whatever caused the delays have been sorted out.

Is it a thing where story arcs are suppose to last for only a certain amount of issues? I feel Udon should drag its storyline if they have to. They shouldn’t be forced to squeeze a whole story arc within like 7 issues. Is it so that you can fit the whole story arc in one tpb? Just my opinion. I wanna see more issues!

This is really a hard topic for me too; Sometimes the arc is worth lasting for like 5+ issues, but because of schedule deadlines, stress of being an independent publisher, other obligations, etc. can put put a hamper on how long/short story arcs are dragged out. I’ve seen it happen in other books where story arcs would be fine if they lasted for about 3-4 issues, but instead they’ve been dragged out for 7-8 issues.

I’d also like to see maybe a LITTLE more in the book as well(I know it sounds a little selfish, but I just feel that sometimes the main plots are cut short to make room for the back up story—which i DO ENJOY, dont get it twisted—and lots of other fillers). Overall, I definately enjoyed this issue, and look forward to the next one.

i think i remember reading that UDON said the SF2 arc will be much longer than the SF arc. I think ‘x’

Maybe it was on one of the threads here. Sometime last year. aahh, so long ago.

But yes, I’d agree that I’d like to see the SF2 tournament go for a while. What will be interesting is how the tournament will be presented. How will be versus who, and who win the matches. Very exciting =]

Looking forward to see the great battles and new techniques the character use to get the upper hand. ^_____________^

wa? i got my honda foil at the el cajon Comics n’ Stuff
the national city CnS had it too, but i only need one.
i think Southern Comics received their’s too. call up n’ check. it’s a foil worth tracking down

Dude, I went to natl city CnS and was told they didn’t receive it nor did they hold for me despite paying for the mem. card. I also went to amazing al’s and they too, had not received it. odd. I’ll check Cv tomorrow to confirm what’s up. Thanks

wtf =[ the old lady that works in the national city CnS busted out a honda foil from her file cabinet
right in front of me too
it was a while ago, might’ve been sold already
but that’s complete bullshit, they received AT LEAST one foil cover.
i tried putting a e.ryu cover on hold a while back, they said they couldn’t do that. =/ bleh, i usualyl goto the one on el cajon anyways

well, i’m sorry for the inconvenience
either the people working there are clueless, or there’s a lot of bullshit going on over there

what’s Cv? amazing al’s?
try southern comics, it’s pretty hidden, but it has mostly everything
except RAWs, because i take them all =]

Pretty cool issue, I like the way Udon is depicting shadoloo as a dangerous and ruthless organization that will go as far as to assasinate immediate family at the drop of a hat. The game has never really conveyed just how bad ass the group is and its refreshing to see the comic is still aimed at a mature audience (just plowed through the US animated series, <shudders> its like Captain Planet for the most part). Hmm, I predict that Gen’s lukemia will have a negative outcome on Ryu’s fight with him.

On an unrelated note what is the deal with Sagat? I’m guessing Bison is aware that his right hand man has been off duty since the comic began and yet hasn’t really taken any steps to get him back. I highly doubt that Bison would allow Sagat to seek retribution given the way his character’s attitude has been construed over the past decade. Was there an altercation between them or what?

Ugh…I haven’t even been able to get issue #2 yet. I might have to order these online or something.

Is the correct spelling Gehanten or Genhanten of the restaurant?

I think that Sagat is more like hired muscle. He’s free to do what he wants until he is needed for an assignment. We don’t yet know if Bison is keeping tabs on him or not.

they don’t cram every character in every comic.

I’m pretty sure it’s Genhanten Bass. I dunno if I like Gen BEATING Akuma…

Sagat used to be one of the 4 grandmasters/lords/heros/Shi-Ten-Oh of Shadaloo, but that was before the Alpha retcons so I don’t know what’s going on there now.

Maybe they could just do a back-up that’s a copy of his SFA2 ending to show why he’s been away from Shadaloo for so long.

In the games Shadowloo agents are free to do what they wish, so long as they remain loyal and follow orders when they are given. Sagat is one example but Birdie and Mike Bison are another, who decided to investigate the Psycho Drives, it shows you that they were free to roam around at least. The comic Shadowloo seems a bit different, with them making Balrog(the ninja) a temporary leader. Don’t think in the games they would of gone to that extent. Maybe a high ranking officer (not one of the lords) would of ran things until they could bring their master back. I’d be worried to put Balrog in charge of anything, he’s kind of insane…(but it was cool in the comic, seeing him bitch about Cammy and the Dolls all the time ha ha!) but after Vega(cape) finally falls in SF2 Revival they do put Mike Bison(Boxer) in charge(course at that point their was no way for them to bring Vega/Cape back)until he runs it into the ground, prolly not a good idea… his SVC ending is pretty funny with him wearing Vega’s(Cape) outfit lol!

Vasili10 can put this better than me, taken from our CFE Bio and Quotes translation faq, using Japanese names - (second link in my sig, shameless plugging!)

"Sano: What does Urien’s quote to Vega - “I want submissive ones! Needless
for two arms three arms and so forth!” mean?

vasili10: Unlike Vega with his two or three chief subordinates working under
him but they’re (Bison, Balrog, Sagat) still free to act on their own
extent, Urien demands no leniency with anyone, he calls the shots himself
with no sharing of responsibility. Another way of looking at it:

Vega: Do what you want, but my order comes first.
Urien: You’re a mindless puppet that doesn’t move unless I make you move.

Vega will take loyalty as long as obedience follows it, Urien wants
obedience period."

Gen vs. Gouki(Akuma) in the games - When they fought in SFZ2 it was a tie. It is unknown what happened at the end of SFZ3 when they fought. However there is an ending in the game where Gen wins, there is no ending that shows Gouki winning this fight. So we don’t know what happened there, but there’s more evidence towards Gen winning, there is no evidence whatsoever that Gouki won the fight. Regardless of the outcome, Gen most likely died of Lukemia and not at Gouki’s hands, since the Shun Goku Satsu doesn’t work on him anyway.

The fact that Gen can counter the SGS does not mean Gouki can’t kill him. Gouki overall seems to be able to kill with just about any attack he’s got. Why couldn’t he just beat Gen to death? I understand that the SGS is his patented move, but the Hadouken is Ryu’s and I’m sure he doesn’t use it to end every fight he gets in.

Look at it this way. If Gen is skilled enough to avoid being killed by SGS, Gouki’s most powerful move he’s prolly skilled enough to avoid not being killed by all of Gouki’s lesser moves and dying by his hands. No matter how Gouki seems to you the two instances where we know what happened when he killed people, against Goutetsu and Vega(Cape) involved SGS(It is unknown how his second fight with Gouken went in the games, but even the comic went with SGS). There’s no known instance of him killing someone without it. Regardless, there’s no evidence of Gouki murdering Gen besides while there is some evidence of his disease doing him in - Gen’s SFZ3 ending.

I find it hard to imagine Gouki beating Gen to death unless Gouki was sure that Gen’s disease wasn’t holding him back. The guy probably isn’t going to kill Gen just because Gen is persistent when he already spared Gen because of Gen’s disease before despite Gen indicated that he wanted to die (assuming it’s like Gouki’s SFA2 ending).

I’m guessing Gen will say it was a draw, Or if he did it was when Akuma was just beaten by Gouken back in the ol’ days.

Nice issue by the way Udon. It cool how can even make some characters cooler than they are in the games!

I was under the impression that Gen could avoid the SGS because he knew the secret to clearing his mind of all the evil he’d done - blah blah blah. That’s really knowledged based ability, not physical ability. Plus Gouki’s raw power outside of the SGS is well known by now. Gen has never been portrayed as having that kind of power.

He could avoid the SGS because he knew the secret to nullify it, but what secrets are there to avoid a dragon punch/big fireball capable of destroying just about anything?

Not saying anyone is wrong, but the whole Gen victory is conjecture at best. On paper it looks like Gouki should obliterate him, SGS or no. Of course I like Gen, so I prefer him to die in combat (what I’d assume is what he’d want) as opposed to suffering from his illness for several years and dying a slow painful death.

CV = Chula Vista
Amazing al’s = comic book store in chula vista.
btw, i gots an issue off of the one in the shopping center in CV afterwards i hit up MvC2; tis dead, one guy playing and the other cvs2

[[I’d be worried to put Balrog in charge of anything, he’s kind of insane…(but it was cool in the comic, seeing him bitch about Cammy and the Dolls all the time ha ha!)]]

way to confuse people there (even though you did explain you were using the japanese names for an american production for some reason). why don’t you just use the names that the comic uses? its far easier on everyone.

I agree with DoTheMove. I just can’t see Gen being able to BEAT Akuma.
