Street fighter EX thread(EX, EX+, Ex+@, EX2, EX2+, EX3)

nah, thanks though… whats so bad about ex2? and nice website

Excels = teh gay :tdown:

i forgot, but what are those? super cancels?

Basically they are like custom combos. Only problem is they’ll blow through 99% of any ground based attacks, supers, etc. They also lead to ridiculously high damage combos and some easy infinites.

so only ex2 had that? anything bad on alpha or 3?

Cypher: Excels are no where as bad as they are in A2, A3 or CVS2 for that matter. Yes certain characters have infinites off of them but I diagree with Jester saying that they’re easy to or pull off for that matter. Alot of those infinite setups are situational and 9 times out of 10 you wont pull them off on a good player. On top of Excels can be blocked so its not bad.

Pretty much if you like standard technical style SF that relies more on fottsies zoning etc. play EX2. If you prefer more fast paced fighting that virtually rely’s more on execution and very little footsies play EX3.
Its generally alot easier to likk someone with a 80-90% combo in EX3 because all you have to do is land 1 foward to lead into a high damaging tag combo.
It all depends on your style of play!

btw Shinji Do you know where I can download the EX1 and or plus @lpha soundtrack from?
In response to your question no I never played Valle EX2, or anything for that matter!

C’mon now, any Rosso ground based excel can lead into his easy infinite. Simply end with QCF+P,P, then crouch LK, QCF+P,P repeat. All you need is one opening, if they try a poke, throw, unblockable, etc. you can blow through with the excel into it. And all that from one bar of super.

Off of an excel yeah Jester but like I said you wont land a typical Raw excel on a good player. Plus I dont think that the infinite is all that easy. Infinities are way easier in 3 because of the large stun factor in the game and the stun factor and hit frame timing is alot tighter in 2, taking into account that Rosso’s dealing with limited options like No Anti-Air and putting him in a guess position opens HIM up to a large variety of combo openings. Yes I will say that if Rosso knocks you down tha he has a liable option to mix you up but even then its not guarunteed!
The one way he can do ublockable is by a grab! But what if you break all his grabs or he try’s to grab and you excel? Then the Rosso player will more than likely counter ecxel to setup for the infinite right but then you just block and bait him to use his meter. See how it balances out!
Theres nothing broken about EX2!

Well a lot of those 80-90% combos in EX3 is assuming that you and your tag partner both have 3 bars, which isn’t too likely anyway. But a good combo should do 50-60% easy with one bar.

But that also depends on who you’re playing. When you played me I have virtually no match play experience. Much less against a good opponent. So all I had to rely on was my execution in which even then it was lacking in some ways those 2 days I played you (ex. I couldn’t get a string of momentaries with Hokuto to occur which normally I can do fairly well, and messing up some of my links, and rosso momentaries).

I got some from a website that was linked here a couple months ago. Something like Dark Symphony or something. Satome was promoting it a bit (IIRC), so maybe you wanna ask him. Or if you’re on aim or something I could send it to you via that or upload it to streamload, temporaily.

For Valle too bad, he supposively has a mean D.Dark with footies. With any luck I should be getting some footage of that in soon (though knowing my luck it’ll be as long as its taking you to send in the vids lol).

If it ain’t there now, then make a request and it’ll be up soon.

edit: i r dumass

Well at some point during a match there is bound to be a mistake, a rushdown gone bad, etc. and if Rosso has one bar it’s pretty much over. That infinite isn’t that dificult, when I had only EX2 to play I was able to pull it off at least 90% of the time.

As for EX3s infinites, THEY are hard to do. Chun Lis Lightning Leg one requires some serious mashing and timing, I think I’ve looped it once or twice ever in match play. Pullums only works on Darun and Zangief, has insanely strict timing, and difficult execution. Ace isn’t used due to the ridiculous DP loops, unblockable set ups, etc. Broken isn’t the word for him.

I guess I just don’t like EX2 due to the easy high damage factor. Even outside of infinites, someone like D.Dark can deal 80%+ damage from a single Dark Wire followed by an unblockable set up with only bar. I’ve seen high level EX2 matches and it always seems to be who can land the set up first, and if not it turns into a poke fest worse than a 3S Chun vs Chun fight. It’s a shame we never got to play at ECC that day, I’m sure I could have shown you guys that there is a lot more needed to win than landing a crouching MK.

Yea that was the site. Thanks Saotome… though it looks to be down unfortunately. :frowning:

For EX2, I can’t say from first hand exp. Though I’ve seen some hongkong vids and had talks with Jester and other well established EX players and most of it came down to Excels.

fixed =x

note to self: don’t post when you’re half asleep

Cant really play theory fighter too much but it really all depends on a player. Sanford has a really good V. Rosso (typical to his style) and he goes for all these dash mixups and yes V.Rosso is kinda scary with meter especially if he has LV 3 but once I start to limit his options it goes in my favor. This is for any V. Rosso player. He’s good but he’s not crazy! Excecution doesnt come into play if you cant get in!

I dont know much about the infinites in 3 but I do know that the game has very high stun factor. You can low foward someone and wait 50 years then do a super. I just wish it werent like that and the characters werent so huge! But provided the same people that made 1-2+ didnt make 3 so I guess its to be expected!
Im not shitting on 3, its just that there are certain aspects that I dont like nonethe less Its really fun just like all the others and I will still play it just because Im big on the series in its entirety and will play all of them competetively!
We have a good set of players that play EX here!
Omar, Arturo, Sayid, Justin, Sanford amongst a few. I realize you dont have as many players but much like us play amongst yourselves on a high level thats why I suggested to Shinji (aka higher EX) lol that we can set something up at this place called Anarcade one day. Its a real nice place in the city where you can just chill have your setup and play! If interested and you guys are ready maybe in Janurary, Februrary sice they have monthly tournaments we can do it again.
Alot of the guys would like to see this go down with us against you guys in EX3!
So I guess we’ll see ehat happens.

Thanks Saotome!

The wait on that c.mk is about the same as in 3s, so it isn’t that bad :-p But we’ll see I guess.

thanks for all the feedback about the games.

was wondering, can you roll, sidestep in this game? and what other techniques are there availabe to you? and are supers done by the regular double motions or is it like rival schools?

I co-sign with Jeron. EX3 is fun but I’m really turned off by the late cancels and large character sprites. excels are bad but are nowhere near as borken as they are in games like cvs2 or a2/a3. though they are a dominant aspect of the game. still, excels can be baited in other games a lot easier than they can in the 2D games cause of diff properties + you cant chip all day.

i actually started playing ex2+ a little again at ron’s house with sayid, but ron shuts down any EX play that we get :frowning:

Only specific characters can roll (Ken and Akuma), certain teleports can act like a side step if you will in previous games (EX-EX2+).

And supers are the regular double motions.

Sabin what do you mean that ron shuts down any ex play? Like after playing a bit he turns it off? Or how goes against your play styles and makes you play his style of EX?

Well either way, I’ve hated all things like CC, and excels aren’t any different for me. Perhaps I’m just too ignorant to learn lol. But I was glad that they took those out and put momentaries in, in EX3.

Yeah Shinji was telling me about that place, sounds good. January/February is kinda bad for me though, I have relatives coming up for most of January and in February I’ll be in the Philippines for 3/4 of the month. I really gotta get back into playing EX3 hardcore again, been on a 3S binge as of late. Nekki will be back in a few weeks so chances are we’ll be doing EX3 most of the time and I can get back into my groove.

which parts of this combo connect? I’ve been trying it but I can’t get it to loop because it won’t juggle. so do you have to launch them extra high or something?

also does chun’s infinite work in EX1? I’ve tried it but she keeps getting pushed too far back. are there any infs in ex1?

thanks in advance
