Basically an updated bang the machine. I see a story here about community, competition, honor, rivalry, love, hatred, and a lot that the mass public has no idea about, but if told with a plot they would watch. I mean people watched a 2 hr movie about donkey kong and classic gaming and that game just dumbfounds me. The main characters hooked em. Im pretty sure we have some characters here
lookin good. May I ask what you are shooting on? just wondering as I used to own a panasonic DVX100a with aspirations to do some film work but had shit in RL go crazy and had to sell the camera off. Good luck with this. Definitely something I’d watch.
Less retarded:
Listen to the man, and worship Daigo less, please. Hope for the day when the name JWong will be a mythical to idiot fanboys in Japan as Daigo is here.
Well, its understandable. He was the co-star in the most famous third strike video ever. It would be like if you were a gay porn star and then you become a serious actor, people would remember you as that guy who took it up the butt.
Anyway looks like a cool documentary, good luck with it :wgrin:
Man stop with JWong hate he reps America and we stand up we won’t be quiet to the Japanese anymore. Nobody eats till we done. NYC all day, East Coast all day. Old School, New School…We Cool!
this documentary wont just be about jwong… it just happens that he’s the only major player i have had contact with so far, so thats the trailer you get Im going to have to take a trip to Cali in order to do this documentary right. When i get back from my trip this monday ill start making arrangements. I think Im going for the angle of all the key players for EVO on their way to EVO. Hopefully everyone will be down and as much of a showman as Justin.
Can anyone email me combofiend and gooteks contact information. I also saw a short from 1up involving a residential arcade out west. I need the info on that and who runs it. If they’ll have me i’m going to want to take a trip there too. The wall with all of the pictures on it had me floored. I really think there is enough material here to make an interesting doc for both street fighter fans and the average joe.
I was watching some of bang the machine last week and loved the scene where the guys were watching Daigo winning a competition in Japan, and how much of a star he was over there. The camera keeps going back and forth between the tv and one guy on the couch (excuse me im not familiar with everyone yet) and the director made it seem like he was thinking about the difference between here and there, that if he was from Japan that could have been him up on stage with the crowd going wild. I was really impressed with the footage I saw and hope I can do something as special.
The scene has changed alot over the years and i think this documentary can say something that bang the machine didnt.
If theres something integral to the community that you would like to see, please post. Your help will shape the documentary. Thanks, you’ve all been great so far.
If you actually took the time to get to know Justin you would know he doesn’t talk trash most of the time. He is one of the nicest and most helpful people you could meet. I understand were your coming from though, because that’s the general thought of people here on SRK, and if you only read SRK you’ll always think that way, I know I did. Once you meet the actual players, all of the forum talk just goes away, and then you can make an informed opinion.
The Daigo worship I’m just tired of though. Yes, he’s an exceptional player, but most of the people here on SRK don’t know him at all, and will never meet him, let alone get to play him. On the contrary, Justin is here, and he helps the community directly. He answers every single one of the questions you ask him, he gives his honest opinion in interviews, he’s willing to do podcasts to share knowledge with the community, and he makes it his duty to be at every tournament he can, because he loves these games and the community. Whether you admit it or not, he is an asset to the community because of this, and the fact that since his standard of play is so high, he helps us level up by just playing him.
