We can finally play this game legally on our PCs! Anway I assume you can paly it onlien (otherwise what’s the use), but what I want to know is if there is less lag than on Kailliera. Guess there’s only one way to find out (even though my internet connection sucks down here)…
Legally? Where’s the fun in doing it legally?
There is a free week long trial right now, they give you 5 games to play (SFA3 included) and you get to pick 4 more to play for 1 week.
Alot of randoms on there, World Heroes Perfect, Breakers, Ragnagard, etc…
Games play ok 1 player, the one guy I could find this time of night to play against was on SFA3. The sound was so choppy it hurt my ears, and the game moved at about half speed. I’ll update if during the week I have any smoother running encounters, but I think they will all turn out to be ass.
I haven’t played Kailerra in a year or more, but I remember it being way better for netplay. If they could fix the netcode to get this running nice, I would pay the $10 a month easy.
is it arcade perfect?
No idea, I don’t really play SFA3, but it didn’t have all the extra characters that PS had, and it needed a credit to play. Seems the CPS2 games are arcade ports with the little time I had, but I’m not sure yet, very little time on it. If they are, who cares, if the online is suck, MAME is just fine 1 player.
I think that they are the original CPS2 roms. Someone else with better knowledge would have to find out though.
I did have a couple matches that weren’t to bad lagwise, but most are horrid. I did find out that most people don’t have as bad a problem as me, most likely it’s that I live on an island 1000’s of miles from anyone I’ve played on there.
I have decided to go ahead and do the first month for 99 cents, by the end of it, I should have my x-box 360 and will most likely cancel.
Hard to find matches on the neo geo fighters, or even ssf2 or sf2 turbo. Everyone plays sfa3 right now, maybe cause it’s a new addition. I’m a scrub at the alpha series and I’ve only played 1 person better than me, so comp is sad so far, though the one guy I played was pretty damn good. Though out of 15 games I think he only edged me out by 1 or 2, if it was lag free, I would have had my ass handed to me I think. Though just the fun of playing someone good again made me decide to get a 360 instead of a Wii first.
When one of you more knowledgeable people are bored, sign up for the free week trial and let me know if you get lag as bad as I usually do. Just playing that one guy got me all happy inside, as I haven’t had good competition in over 10 years when I used to live near arcades. Ahhhh the good old days at The Yellow Brick Road and Mission Beach arcades…
Is there any place to check stats for games you’re interested in (like how many are typically playing other people online), or only after you’ve installed their software?
You can browse the games on gametap.com, if thats what you mean. I don’t think any fighting games are ranked or anything yet. I am now almost sure they are arcade perfect, as it lists what system they are from. All capcom ones are arcade.
They need to add ssf2 turbo.
If someone here is good at netcoding, get a job at gametap. With the arcade perfect SF’s and Neo Geo games, hopefully more to come, the lag is awful. If they can fix this lag it would be a godsend. The matching, buddy service, isn’t bad and you can use aim in it as well.
I’ll keep paying to play in slow motion until my tax return comes, then a 360 is coming, because at least then I can have turbo with less lag.
I don’t get the problem, since I live in Maui I figured it was the distance as the problem, though I’ve had fine battles on Zsnes and Kaillera. I had an almost lag free match today and instantly asked where he was from. Florida… So no fucking idea what the problem is most of the time.
But other than the lag issues, most people suck ass on the tap anyways.
No idea why Darkstalkers 1 and Vampire Savior have netplay, yet Darkstalkers 2 doesn’t?
Anyone else try the free week trial yet from the mainland, curious as how the lag was on that end.
Sorry, GameTap is not available in your country.
