correct
It might just be me, or infinites seem to be taken out of the PSP version. I’ve attempted Ryus and Sodoms and they wouldnt work.
Super responsive PSP D-pad!!!
Ok so I tried the plastic thing under the digital pad, and i wasn’t that happy with it. It did make the controls a little better- but not perfect. I couldn’t pull a shoryuken 100 percent of the time.
So I started experimenting.
I took apart a ps2 controller- and the digital pad fits nicely in place of the psp pad. It was too thick though. I realized it wasnt the pad- but the little rubber nipples that push the pad back up. On the psp- they are weak, and make it so you don’t get that roll feeling you do with a ps2 pad. So I tried putting the ps2 rubber nipples into the psp. They are too thick, and didnt work.
Sooo… I looked around for another digital pad that was smaller. And I found a GC controller. Smashed it apart, took the rubber nipples from the d-pad- which are perfectly spaced. They fit nicely, but still a little too thick. So I carved out the underside of the psp digital pad to fit the nipples snugly. Works perfect! The directionals pop back up nicely, and you can get some nice motions going on. I can do uppercuts on command, and now my Zangief is rockin the 360. The only problem is cosmetic. you can see where I came through the bottom of the dpad. I burrowed through the black to the transparent part of the inside of the dpad. It’s not pretty, just a white speck. But I’m sure the next one I do will probably be nicer looking.
some artist tape (masking tape) layered six times with 4 hole punches would have did the trick. You just wanted to take apart some controllers didn’t you?
I think it would be cool if they made a controller that you can plug into the PSP in order to have better cntrol when fighting.
i did the hole punch thing but after few games, the tape slides outta place and down or left will stop working until i take them out or respace them. Do you tape the pieces down or something?
How the fuck did you screw up the Konami Code?
Special thanks for TS for asking me to check this out. Try this -
Win a match with Birdie. As you win hold down the Roundhouse button. He sticks out his middle finger at his opponent for a win pose!
This was always available in the japanese versions but was taking out of the American versions, until now. Don’t tell Hilary Clinton and flip the bird with Birdie!
I think the original alpha 3 had the same birdie pose but instead of the middle finger they changed it to a fist. It’s a pretty cool bonus addition for the PSP version.
for all of you who might want to buy an addon that works, i bought one thats called HVG2 mini dpad crystal cover, it bascially covers the whole front of your psp, and screws into the top of it, but it has a small stick/knob over the dpad much like the kinds that are on ps2 controllers, but much stiffer, which allows for accurate inputs. I’m getting pretty good results from dp’s, supers etc. Just something you might want to try.
Would you happen to have a link for that?
Unfortunately i don’t, but i’ll take some pictures of the cover on the psp and also of the packaging and post it in a bit. i didn’t buy it online, so you may want to check your local stores.
pics soon?
LOL. You guys may know this, but I just found out that winning a match with Rolento and holding :mp: will make Rolento toss a grenade at the fallen opponents body.
and he grins and laughs, thats the best win pose ever made.
Try holding :mk: with Dee Jay or :hk: with Birdie (Japanese version only).
Hey, is network mode just for Local Area or is there a way to hook up to a ‘National Network’ of sorts; and if so how would one go about doing it?
I dont think the controls are too bad, I cans till execute all my moves and combos with ken flawlessly, but there is some instances where I want to throw a hadouken and it doesnt come out, my only gripe about the controls are how my hand has to be positioned on my PSP when playing, thats more frustrating then the D-pad.
I saw on 1up.com that they said just putting some tape over the original PSP d-pad then putting a quarter on top helps but since I dont have the game I cant put my own input about it.
Hmm… so I bought it today and it’s all very much fantastic for me since I never really played the Zero series.
I’m having hell of a hard time with dp, though. Kinda weird since I can hit supers with almost no problem. I guess the problem is to stop on the diagonals.
I’m prepared to take my PSP apart, but which (plastic or masking tapes) is the more responsive option? I’m asking this cus there hasn’t seemed to be an clear verdict in this thread thus far. I don’t own a glue gun, but I suppose I could borrow my friend’s if the plastic option is much superior to the maskng tape option.
Thansk in advance!
The game doesn’t appear to record new scores. Anybody else notice this?
