Hi so i just created an account here in hope that someone here can help me with my problem. I just recently picked up street figher 4 ae for the pc and i’m having a problem setting up my wired 360 control. In the control options i only see keyboard 1 and keyboard 2. Is there something i have to do? Any help would be appreciated. thanks!
ask google for Windows 360 driver ?
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/xbox-360-controller-for-windows#details
and download/install them
i already have that installed. my controller shows up in all my other pc games except for this one. i can even use it in the gfwl menu.
configure it and place it in the game directory /Programm Files/Capcom/SSFIVAE/, both the ini files and the xinput.dll
I didn’t have to do any of that. It doesn’t show up as a controller option to me, I just started using it. Just opened the game and started using the controller to navigate. If you haven’t tried that already then you need to do what petran79 said. You might also have to re-install the controller driver.
this didn’t work for me either
at least is the pad recognized by the x360ce emulator?
also have you updated to the latest 2012 version? 2011 versions had some issues with controllers.if you cant do it online, you can do it offline manually.
have you also any other controllers connected? they might interfere with the game. try removing them, leaving only the Xbox controller.
you shouldn’t even have to start changing or affecting files of the game.
just download motionjoy. download the version that emulates xbox controllers.
using motionjoy, check to see if you pc recognizes the controller with a button check, once your controller is recognized by your pc…you are good to go.
it has nothing to do with the game, hence you shouldn’t fiddle with thoe SSF4AE files in the least regarding controller options.
check the motionjoy website and their vids if you get stuck.

I think I’ve solved this problem (or at least found the cause). Problem I had was exactly as described (drivers installed, pad works everywhere else etc etc).
It originally did work for me, but the one day stopped - had the thought it may be the patches (as Steam installs these for me).
In the SF folder (in my case: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Super Street Fighter IV - Arcade Edition) there are a load of patch folders. I just deleted the latest one (patch_1_07), restarted the game and - Oh it works again
Actually, just worked out what may be a better fix. All the patches apart from patch_1_07, have a UI sub-folder under them.
If you copy the UI folder from patch_1_06 (which I assume was the previous one) into the patch_1_07 folder, then the controller works still.
Not sure anybody even cares about this issue any more, but it was driving me nuts and all my googling just kept on taking me back to this page
Thanks man, that solved my problem. Not sure if this is Windows 8 specific issue, or if its a 1.07 patch issue, but am happy I can use my controller again. I did have to open the game, close it, and open it again for it work (after copying the UI folder).
hi guys
i bought SSF4 AE some years ago. I played it for a long time on my old win 7 notebook without any problems. I was usual to play with a ps2 controller and an usb-to-PSX adapter.
Now i upgraded to win 8.1 and the game doesnt detect the controller. I also bought an xbox controller but in controls options i see only “keyboard1” and “keyboard2”.
With my controller I can only open GFWL menu and navigate it.
Controller is fine detected and its visible in Windows hardware, only SSF4 AE doesnt recognize it, in fact i can play skyrim using it.
I tried x360ce, reinstall the game…
plz help an italian gamer
