I purchased a stock used Alpha for $20 locally as well as a xbox360 street fighter X Tekken TE fightstick pro for $45. I didn’t want to mess with brook accessories. Not a fan of having to update firmware every time Sony puts out a new patch and I have no peace of mind for how long they will continue support. Compability is not a guarantee. So I passed on the converters as well as a UFB. I’d rather do a padhack and save $80 bucks. Which a padhack might be a future project.
Saved me from having to do a arcade parts order online. I did have to go get a soldering iron ($2.50) solder $2.50, bag of small colored zip ties $1.00, Flux $2.50, heat shrink tubing $3.00, .110 terminals Sanwa branded $5.50 and I splurged on a good set of automatic wire strippes (Gardner Bender) for $20 that’s strips very small gauge. This was also my first time soldering which I spent a lot of research doing to know how to do it right. Overall my connections are very secure. I can shake and rattle the thing and nothing comes looks, Which is important as this is going to be a travel stick. I don’t look at the cost of the tools as so much a cost either, I got a lot of reusable things that I will need for other projects andthe reselling of the stick that I swapped parts for should recoup the majority back.
I did have issues at first I got the wrong .110 quick disconnects that local hardware shops carry. So I went on ebay and just got Sanwa branded ones.
