i’d much rather pay for the patch/DLC
i recall laswagga bitching about ppl constantly wake up srk online all the time. it was on 8wayrun.com too. he said he was going to quit the game, and was bitching about it too. and this was… about 3-4 months after the game came out lol.
edit: i found it http://www.8wayrun.com/f19/street-fighter-4-screw-it-i-tried-t3465/
You actually think that’s worth being proud about?
DLC ftw
Exactly. I’ve made this point before about Virtua Fighter 5 and many other games but they just won’t do it because they are clinging onto the old thinking that they must release it onto a disc because that’s how it was done in the past. These days, it’s cheaper to release a big patch, charge people for it which leads to more money being made and people who have the existing game feels that they aren’t getting left behind.
Guilty Gear is a prime example of how not to do updates. They had #Reload, Slash, Accent Core and by then, people didn’t want to pay 60-70 dollars for an import which contained very little updates and balance tweaks. It’s understandable that it was the only way they could do it but in these times they had better patch the game.
The problem with DLC and patches is it fundementally changes the game and punishes those who prefer the old version. If you look at SF2 and its updates, some people still think Hyper Fighting is better than ST. Many prefer Alpha 2 to Alpha 3. Many prefer Double Impact to Third Strike. Patching the game mechanics could seriously shoot them in the foot and alienate alot of players, whereas a new game makes more sense even in the DLC era. People hate buying game A and having it replaced with game B when they could have had access to both game A and B at the same time. Releasing a new game will not scare users away, they will keep playing the old game if they do not like or want the new game. Patching the game will potentially change it into something they do not want and will scare them away
Yeah Capcom is sorta gouging us, however as a player there are alot of benefits to having a new game. New game also means higher profit margin which means more time and money can go into it. DLC for SF4 should remain as costumes and maybe new stages. Stuff that does not actually effect gameplay but makes the game more enjoyable and personal to the player.
.
I’ve always wondered this. Especially with the new one since vick just became an eagle
hah thats crazy for a remake
Fuck I remember that. Honestly people don’t know how good they have it these days, the really good games were fucking expensive back in the day
I believe Star Fox was almost a hundred back then. You don’t even wanna know how much the NeoGeo cartidge games were. Considering how everything else has gotten WAY more expensive and consoles and games have stayed the same dollar amount or gotten CHEAPER, people need to stop complaining so much. Or if you don’t like the inflation argument… You pay like 20 dollars for a two hour blu-ray, paying 60 for a game you are gonna play at least 30 hours on is nothing.
Personally, I’d rather have separate games anyway just because I like being able to choose between different versions.
Alpha 2 and 3 were dramatically different games changing some things around and introducing isms, to the gameplay.
3 was a different game from 2 in many ways, sure the sprites were the same but the game was ultimately different. Also we got tons of characters in the sequel, so yeah it was a different game.
If people are only asking for 4 characters, 3 stages, and maybe the ability to get different music to play in the background, I’d say that’s more of an issue of DLC, also if it fixes the online and some defects of the original that’s fine.
You can’t keep having it, “it’s either this way or that way”.
adding characters and stages does not change the game.
^Glad this was bumped, gonna be making my nappydorf av soon

That lil bitch Laswagga gave my vid one star , I didn’t know the king of thieves was so sensitive
Uh yeah 3 or 4 characters does change the game.
Any new character does drastically change the game. See the Sanford/Dan match at Evo. Dan had no idea how to play against any of the console characters and got Schooled by Cammy pretty seriously. I think it was the best match at the event, Sanford’s Cammy is awesome.
Adding a new character completely shifts the tiers. One character can completely negate the validity of one other character, that other character may have been keeping another character in check…and so on. Completely new game.
Think of how a game plays on release in the arcade and how it plays on release of a time release character. First that character often dominates just because nobody is aware of how to react to them, second it completely changes the tiers.
One of the arguments of why the console exclusives are seemingly so weak is that Capcom was worried of the impact they would have. Home SFiv is a completely different game to arcade SFiv, not just an upgrade.
The only thing they should of did better was online part. Better netcode and lobby system but other then that I was very happy about the game.
yea i know right, and i see ppl bitching about how hard links are in this game when they are not that hard.
i wonder if its his secret butt lover.
