Im glad they released the game, instead of testing for another 12 months to find all the problems we are aware of, then taking the time to fix them and I wonder if we would even be playing SFIV yet?
Unless its an MMO I think you should buy the updated version, MMOs should have DLC because you have a monthly fee. (Most MMOs still try and get you to buy anyway)

wtf, thats bull, i just joined this year and i’ve only dealt with one jerk and the rest of the people were really nice. If capcom does release a updated vers. of SF4, i think they should make it really cheap because in my oppinion, its not fair to the fans to charge full price for game we just bought and now have to buy again for a update.

1 year is more than enough for most people to save up $60 on something that will last them for a while.
There’s a lot more instances where i’ve spent $60 on things i’ve used far less or were gone instantly like food or taking people out to the movies, etc.
A couple people trying to fight the system aren’t going to win in this instance.
Like COD modern warfare 2 there was a similar gripe saying Actvision should give a discount to cod4 owners since WAW was so bad and obviously a stop-gap game. They got a decent amount of signatures but so what? MW2 has over a fucking million pre-sold already. A MILLION. They don’t give a fuck.** Capcom and Square-Enix are like the kings of repackaging the same shit to make money** so I don’t think you’ll ever see free or DLC for completely new content.
Street Fighter II, Then Champ Edition, Then Hyper Fighting, Then Super, Then Super Turbo, Then Anniversary, Then HD Remix
Street Fighter Alpha, then Alpha II, Then A2 Gold, Then Alpha 3, Then A3 Upper, Then Hyper Alpha
Street Fighter III, Then Double Impact, Then Third Strike
SFIV, then an update with tweaks and new characters is part of the existing way the series is developed. It is like arguing Milk comes from Cows…though I am reasonably sure your milk comes from Bulls.

Is it wrong to hope for DLC though? I mean paying 20 bucks for a couple of new characters, stages, and music is better than paying 60 bucks for the same game with few tweaks

To the people who are saying “well that’s the way it’s always been so wtf deal with it,” just because a system worked in the past doesn’t mean it makes sense now. That’s the way it was because there was no other alternative. These days, a DLC patch makes a lot more sense than releasing a new disk. The people that are saying that DLC will fragment the userbase, this doesn’t make sense either. As much as it might scare casuals away, releasing it as a new game would scare them away too, and it would probably scare more of them away because of the larger price tag.
I know it’s fun to rag on people but really? He actually does have a point. DLC/Patches are the way to go.
Capcom never stated that they would release a new version of SF4 on a disc…and if they do release a DLC pack (NOT PATCHES OR FIXES) expect to pay for them.
