All I’ve seen in this thread, so far, is ignorant replies talking about how Valve has something to do with SF4. Just setting the record straight here. :rolleyes:
Well hopefuly you understand when someone has ~100’s worth of games purchased on their steam account they want to err on the side of caution instead of blindly trying something that for all they know could get themselves steam banned - some random post on a forum stating you won’t get steam banned, when the post contains no techicle explination and for all I know could be speculation isn’t advice I always blindly follow right away.

I really, really hope we don’t get to the point of DLC cheating. Capcom is going to crack down on that quickly, I bet, if you use it online.
I don’t think you understand. The game has nothing to do with Steam, besides launching it. Valve has no idea what you are doing with SF4 or if you are even playing SF4 at all. This has nothing to do with Steam policies. Don’t assume crap out of nowhere, man.

I think you’re right, since the purchase info is registered on LIVE’s account, they can check to see if you’re using a costume that wasn’t legally purchased if you use it online…

Like I already said, I didn’t know this, for all I know/knew steam checks for memory injection from external programs such as cheat engine for any steam app (and it is a steam app, try closing steam while sf4 is running, it won’t let you), therefore I wanted to make absolutley sure I wasn’t going to loose 100 of software (along with my account) doing something I don’t care that much about.
And I’m sorry, 1 post on a forum giving no technicle information, from someone I don’t know, while helpful in allowing me to form my own oppinion, is not something I will instantly take as gospel. Especialy when what I stand to loose far outweighs what I stand to gain as is the case here. Can you really not understand this?
Also you are missinformed, steam does know when you are playing sf4, it displays it in your profile (and also records in your profile how many hours you’ve played), so you’re maybe not the best source on what will and won’t get me banned.
I think I’ve found the answer to the “Corrupt Save Game” problem. I got it for a few times first too. What I did was I unlocked everything in the “Options” menu, then went to “Versus” and fought a CPU. During the fight I went to “Change Character”, NOT “Exit to Main Menu” (this causes my game to freeze and remove my savegame when I restart it). Then, when at the select character screen, just go back to the main menu. It will save and after playing for half an hour, restarting the game a few times, I haven’t had the bug since.
Ok, so some alternate costumes have been hacked already. However, they can’t be seen by other players online, unless they too have installed this hack.

Hacked ? Are these by modifying the textures or something ( I never really looked on this , it’s not really a true way of getting the alternate costume for now ) ? If not , then I think doing this method of renaming files is very simple and not really considered hacking , unless it’s something I didn’t know like requiring hex and renaming names inside the file , yet that still isn’t hacking but rather modifying by hex…
