If it were rebalanced, I wouldn’t bitch and moan, but I wouldn’t really play it as much as I’d play arcade version. Playing online is really boring to me. It’s great for people with no access to arcade but I’m not interested. I’ll sooner just move to Japan
The only way I truly wouldn’t mind a rebalanced version for 3SOE is if they released a new arcade version that has those changes. But that won’t happen.
Not like it matters, I’m pretty content with 3rd Strike as it is.
Now there isn’t a screen cap or such for proof, so take this with a grain of salt.
Personally, I think it sounds like the kind of response Seth Killian would make.
How many more years do we think authentic 3rd strike boards will be able to survive anyway? How do the Japanese keep them in good condition? And where the hell do you even find CPS3 boards outside of Japan and Ebay?
With good care and maintenance they can likely survive a good while longer. Minimum amount of turning on and off, keeping them clean and dust free, making sure they have a good supply of cool air, etc. extend the longevity of all electronics. There are some dealers who will find boards for you. Other than people like that and ebay/other bidding sites I’m not sure. You can find people on various forums though who are getting rid of their collections sometimes.
Don’t forgot, you can still get 3s carts revived.
Only you can’t send them in yourself. You have to ship them to a third party so they can send them to either Capcom of Asia or Capcom of Japan.
Any region can be revived into the Asia version, while only Japanese carts can be revived into the Japanese version.
I am not sure if other CPS3 carts like the Jojo’s, Warzard, or other SF3s can be revived.
Pretty sure you can, but there’s little reason to.
Getting a 3s cart revived costs around $150 for the Asia version and $180 for the Japanese version.
If it’s the same cost for all CPS3 carts, it’s probably cheaper and quicker to just buy another one.
Oh and leaving your CPS3 setup running will preserve the battery life.
While being powered on, the battery power isn’t used. That’s how some carts are still alive after the 5 year life expectancy.
really glad they didnt try and add characters they would have fucked that up so badly
little disappointed no new gameplay elements/balance changes
not a clue what they think is going to make this game so amazing.
he says it is going father than any retail game in some mystery way and that they are expecting to grab people other than hardcore 3s fans to buy.
:looney:
my only guys is this is more over hype BS regarding the online modes/features.
ps
i just had a though, i think an online league would be really could for a game like this.
a long game rather than on for a few fights a day for no real point or a little 8 bracket.
-An extended training mode for each character (including parries), sorta like SFIV’s only even more expanded.
-A user defined costume color option. I like to paint by numbers!
-All of the other SF3 stages and music + the remixed songs from the ports for the VS mode (don’t need it for the story mode, just keep that the same)
If I got all 3 of those things, which is not much work respectively: I’d be in love!
The game doesn’t need to be redrawn. The background could be livened up (not put in 3D, god no!). They could add some animation (figures) to the backgrounds. A re-balance would be good and is probably going to happen no matter what (Ibuki and Sean being near their former glory is my hope). I was really itching for 2-4 new characters. I know they are on a time/budget crunch, but 2 more familiar characters from the franchise would generate a moderate amount of interest and shake up the match ups enough to generate a different kind of interest than what they are now going to get. I’d love to see Fei, Cammy, Viper and/or Abel in this setting.
This quote from the article: and while I love you guys, we really need to bring more than the hardest core SF3 fans to the table to be successful with the title
Makes me think rebalance. Gameplay changes could mean anything so cue the bitching.
I figure they would fit around the Ken/Dudley tier level if they were put back to that respective power level (give or take), which IMO is just about what the character balance should strive to be at. I think Dudley is about the most balanced character, with Ken being a wee imbalanced due to the ease of landing SA3. Push down Chun/Yun and SLIGHTY raise Ryu/Akuma/Urien/Makato/Yang to Dud/Ken’s level, then fix the bottom chars.
Just my ponderings
Yeah they are gonna have to make it easier to get into for newer people who will play online which means kicking Chun and Yun’s teeth in. Having a guy from SF4 come play the game for the first day and get repeatedly beat by a random Yun from corner juggles will put off the average joe. I think they will implement a vast training mode to learn parries without spending time getting their butts kicked online. I honestly would love for them to just DITCH the car stage and take the parry stage and make that first and then add a new parry stage for the second bonus round. Maybe have Ryu in there throwing attacks you need to parry.
