Street Fighter 3rd strike: Online edition

It’s going to be arcade version. All we need is that, training mode, and online play…oh yeah release it soon dammit!!

I’m sick of hearing about rebalancing the game. If it is rebalanced it is no longer 3rd strike. If you want it rebalanced obviously you don’t want to play 3rd strike. SO GO PLAY ANOTHER F***ING GAME!!! STOP WHINING AND GOODBYE!!:wgrin:

I can agree with the above. I’m really worried about the netcode, GGPO 3S is complete shit. I could document all of the broken things people are allowed to get away with. One time I was Alex against a trolling Ken player, I do sMP, it hits him, but he was able to immediately do crMP into SA3. So that’s what you’re dealing with.

I do hope that the training mode is intensive. My parry skills could be better, but I haven’t had much of a chance to train that in recent.

Another thing I’m worried about is that a huge chunk of the SF4 base will be playing this, and they will all be using Ryu/Ken/Akuma and playing like it’s SF4. Then a week later they will never play it ever again. So, it’s important to form some sort of group or something (and I think there’s a thread on this) where all of the intermediate and high level players can meet up.

If the SF4 scrubs leave after a week, to them I say good riddance.

The people who really want to learn 3S will stay.

Yeah I mean, I don’t know shit. I acknowledge that. I would love to play people who are at least decent at the game. I don’t mind getting my ass handed to me as long as the other person is willing to impart some wisdom and put up with me learning.

I understand the desire for a rebalance. It’s cool, it’s fresh, it’s something new but I and I think a lot of people who really liked 3S don’t want it to be messed with. Sure some characters have distinct advantages but we’re accustomed to those things. Changing them seems kind of pointless.

I’ve wanted this for a long time. SSF4 is just not my game, I don’t enjoy it as much and I don’t feel a strong desire to get better in it. The hitboxes especially piss me off. That and ultras which while I don’t hate them, don’t like them at all because they downplay supers entirely. Supers are like a nice bonus you occasionally use in SSF4. I don’t like that. I love that in 3S you can stock multiple supers and that they don’t change the god damn camera angle and play a final fantasy cutscene when you use them.

Back when this game came online for the 1st xbox, it had its own forum and a lot of the good players were more than willing to give out advice to the newer and intermediate players to improve. Despite not being a good port of the game, at this time was when I really started learning about competitive 3rd Strike. Trust me if you want to learn there will be people to help including myself because that will in time bring more competition into this game, and really this game doesn’t take that long to pick up on compared to a lot of fighters. I picked up blazblue the other day and I’m just like…??? Don’t see myself seriously playing…

Just curious, would everyone still get upset if the game is exactly the same but Sean and 12 are buffed?

Personally, I wouldn’t be upset if that were to happen.

As long as they only buff up the low-tier and don’t touch the mid or top-tier, then I’m fine with it.

But i’d still take no changes at all, rather than buffing low-tiers.

When you buff a low tier you kind of are changing the high tiers (in a simplified way). A better way of looking at it, is that you’re changing the matchup strategies. You can’t change one character without somehow affecting another.

There was an interview with Ponder about 3rd Strike OE.What he said was that 3s on GGPO isnt as good as it could be because they didnt have the official data from Capcom or something? They said that if they work together with Capcom it could be much better.

I would be

it would be like cps2 games, as super turbo. You can have 120+ms but its still very nice playable

GGPO DOESN’T DO 3S THE WAY IT SHOULD DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE LICENCE THAT FBA HAS DOESN’T PERMIT HIM TO DO CHANGES TO THE SOURCE CODE IT SELF WITHOUT PUBLISHING THE CHANGES. THIS MAKES IT SO THAT IF HE WAS TO ACTUALLY DO ADJUSTMENTS IN THE EMULATOR’S SOURCE CODE TO FULLY IMPLEMENT GGPO, HE WOULD PROBABLY HAVE TO GIVE OUT THE SOURCE CODE TO GGPO ITSELF AND THUS GIVING EVERYONE ELSE A CHANCE TO SEE THE GENIOUS AND COPY IT THEMSELVES.

god, when do people ever read what either ponder nor inkblot writes?

Nope.
Also, make remy’s disc’s build meter. That is all. I am happy with pretty much everyone else in the game (not every character HAS to be a cr mk to super kind of character)

The only thing with touching the less powerful characters if you really can’t do that without affecting everything. Since all the characters aren’t consistent you could accidentally make Sean ridiculous against Oro or something (who the fuck knows).

While it isn’t bad in concept to want to give the weakest members of the cast a little boost it just isn’t that simple at all.

That and we come back to it not being an arcade perfect port. In which case it’ll make the community pretty small. I don’t want to play a different version than the one that’s been out for 11 years. The one that everyone right now who plays the game plays. It just makes your pool of people to play and learn with smaller and I don’t think that’s good.

Like TDeneka said, not everyone needs to be able to cr.mk into super. When I think of 3S I think of how so many of the characters are weird hybrids of styles and input schemes from past games and that coupled with their inconsistency going as far as things like taunts is one of the qualities that makes the game great.

Capcom made some odd choices when they originally made 3S. Now isn’t the time to change things around. If they want to go on and do a successor to 3S that builds on that game’s qualities that’s when they should look at rebalancing things. I hoped that SF4 was going to be that game but that didn’t work out. Here’s hoping SF5 or SF3: ‘4th Something’ will be made some day.

For an online release they should get it out quickly and with all the online features we expect in as arcade perfect a form as is possible.

SF2THDRemix was actually a pretty good rebalance. It gave purpose to crappy moves by changing properties, speed and angle of them while slightly reducing damage from some of the stronger, more abusable moves. They could do the same in 3S. Seriously Yun is pretty broken in that everyone you have to be a master to not get owned during his custom combo rape. It’s fine that his custom combo does like 40% of your health but the fact that its such a short meter is pretty unfair considering some other super arts that are far less effective and have longer meters on characters with crappy normals. Seriously Yun is in custom combo mode like 66% of the time he’s fighting since he can charge meter after it wears off while he’s still juggling you.

I honestly think the ST community would have been more accepting of HDR if it didn’t have the re-drawn sprites and a couple of really unnecessarychoices like Ryu’s Fake Fireball.

The ignorance on SRK since SFIV came out is almost unbearable. Please deactivate both of your accounts immediately and do everyone a favor. I seriously hope that Capcom isn’t listening to these type of people for 3S Online. :shake:

I don’t think so only because 3S will sell to people who don’t know anything simply because it’s a Street Fighter game and it’ll sell to those of us who like 3S because it’s 3S. I doubt it’ll be touched, too much work for something they could release with online and cash in. SFII they had to spice up because it was ancient. They had to make it ‘cool’ and ‘new’ so it’d appeal to people who were not sure if it was worth the money. 3S online is post SSF4 so it should be an easy sell with minimal effort on Capcom’s part.

The ST community would’ve been more accepting of HDR if it wasn’t for that last “R”.

"Will Street Fighter III: Online Edition include new content?

Svensson: You’ll find out… next year (which, since we’re in November, isn’t THAT far away).

Unfortunately, we’re not yet talking about the features or content of the game, as excited as I am about it. I’m going to have to keep you in suspense a bit longer."

New content…? Hopefully he means like online stuff.
