Capcom would be taking another huge gamble if they did this. History will repeat itself. What happened to 3S will happen to this game too.
Unless that “thing” fails to make the game more interesting. Now, I’ll admit that there is an upside to parry; namely, that it allows players with superior skill who main bad characters to more easily defeat worse players playing better characters. However, that one upside becomes irrelevant if we actually rebalance the characters.
Provide me with evidence that no one would play it. Prove that removing parries and rebalancing the characters in light of this would actually make the game worse. If you can’t, then you’re just blowing steam out of your ass.
I mean, if you can provide me with some convincing evidence, then I’ll believe you. I’m a mathematician, so, it’s sort of my job to look at the facts in an unbiased manner.
I wouldn’t play it… I’d play a rebalanced version but removing parries is fucking stupid. It’s like asking to remove FA in SSFIV or VC in SFA3…

You can’t take parries out of 3rd Strike. What’s next, taking juggles out of Tekken? Fatalities out of Mortal Kombat?
I’ve got an honest question: How many people here outright wouldn’t buy it purely if it weren’t “updated”? I can see not getting it if you’ve already got satisfactory comp on GGPO or just hate online, but I’m under the impression that while MvC2 on XBL/PSN didn’t really boost the scene, HDR isn’t exactly thriving itself. I could be wrong on that, of course.
Next-Gen Marvel didn’t revive the scene for a couple of reasons.
A) Real Marvel players don’t like the game because of the slight changes
B) Newer players are too lazy/scrubby to play Marvel
C) Marvel is really old, and has enjoyed a 10-year run already
How does this relate to 3S? Simple. Capcom has two choices. They can make it arcade perfect, which would please all the 3S players that still love 3S, but don’t get to play it so much because of hardware issues (who still brings PS2’s to tournaments? Who wants to keep their CRT TV for one game?).
They can rebalance it, and please the players that will play rebalanced 3S for a couple of months, then drop it.
If you think EITHER of these routes will lead to a 3S revival, I think you’re crazy. Too much new shit coming out for 3S to come back to life.
One of these routes will give people that actually like 3S, what they want, and the other will give some players a pastime for a little while. As for sales… I really don’t think a rebalance will boost sales. I think there are just as many, if not more, people that will refuse to buy a rebalance, as there are those that will refuse to buy it unchanged. I think the VAST majority of players won’t notice/care either way, and just buy it because they think they like Street Fighter now, and it’s a $15 download.
So why go through the effort?
And all you guys crying for a rebalance… I don’t get it. If you don’t like 3S, don’t play 3S (like me). A lot of people like it. Let them have it. Wait for 4th Clash or whatever the fuck. Maybe you’ll like that.
I think parry is one of the dumbest mechanics ever put into a fighting game. I just think it’s absolutely retarded. So, I don’t play SF3. It’s that simple. I’m not gonna force my desires onto a community of gamers that love their game the way it is. That’s stupid, and amazingly self-centered. Every game isn’t for me. I can accept that.

whether it would make the game better or worse is up to debate because if you dont like parries, then it would make it better, if you did like parries, then removing it would make it worse. however by removing parries, you remove the one thing that makes it totally unique compared to other street fighters and other fighting games (i am not sure if there ever has been parries in other games, so if i am wrong correct me). without parries, its like a supe’d up mix between sf2 and the alpha series, it would be very fast like alpha and you die really fast like sf2. while that might be a fun game, it wouldn’t be third strike therefore the title street fighter 3 3rd strike wouldn’t make sense due to the fact that without parries it isn’t third strike. what you are asking them to do is create a completely different game which could be done. if it would make you happy, they should just put in an option for no parries in the game settings so people who like them can play with them and people who dont like them dont have to use them. also you tell us to prove to you how parries make the game better, but why dont you give us legitimate reasons for why they should be removed. just because it creates risk involved in everything you do, does not make it a drawback. it makes the game more interesting in my opinion and adds to the excitement of 3s and i imagine the fact that there is so much risk involved in everything is why so many people play it still and love it.

Regardless, I don’t see a rebalance happening. This is already a waste of time and money for Capcom. A new release of 3S won’t bring in MvC2 Remix revenue, nor will it bring HDR revenue. Capcom will inevitably view it as a failure just as they did back in the late '90s. Which is kind of a good thing, because then they’ll stop rereleasing old games so we won’t have to see CvS2 again in any capacity.

I really enjoy playing 3s, but I do I think that chun-li is stupid good and scary? Yes. Do I cut myself because of her? No.

But did Ono not say to tell S-Kill what we want? Meaning that tweaking is not out of the question? Our job as fans is to buy the product and voice our opinions.
